Beautiful place to stay

Verified Up Front Reviews
This was a beautiful place to stay for a short break with friends. The hot-tub took a little while to get to the right temperature on the first day but was lovely to use once warm enough. The view was amazing and we loved having the cows right next to the cottage. It was lovely to be able to walk just around the corner and get fresh milk and ice-cream! The house itself was immaculately presented and had everything we needed. We couldn’t walk far in this holiday due to a friend on crutches but I imagine the walks would have been excellent from the house. All in all a great place to stay.

Gorgeous short stay

Wallhope Retreat was beautiful. The property is done to very high standards and the building itself is interestingly characterful and in a fabulous position. The hot tub and the view were the cream on the cake and we very much enjoyed relaxing in the garden on the comfortable outdoor furniture whilst enjoying the view towards the bridge. Lots of walks immediately from the property or a short drive away. Hosts were very welcoming whilst respecting your privacy and we were able to relax completely. Highly recommended.

We loved the place and surroundings. We were there with 2 kids and they had a blast. We strongly recommend the jacuzzi with fantastic views.

My friend and I had a very peaceful and restful stay at Wallhope Retreat. The cottage was very clean and fresh. We enjoyed watching the cows in the field from the hot tub (worth the extra payment). We would recommend a stay here, very relaxing, and beautiful surroundings.

We couldn't have asked for more, wall to wall sunshine and peace, quiet and beautiful views - just our cup of tea! Plus the friendly helpfulness of Sarah and Paul - I, at aged 88, and my daughter just loved it. I've been to the Wye Valley several times and am convinced it has some of the loveliest scenery in the country.

Had the best stay at Wallhope Farm. The house is beautifully decorated with everything you need. Modern, clean with very comfortable beds. The view from the garden is beautiful and you really feel like you are away from everything in the countryside even though you are still close enough to everything you need. The hot tub in the garden is the perfect way to spend the evening and the farm shop down the driveway has delicious milk and home made ice cream. We didn't want to leave and would love to return one day.

Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful, delightful and comfortable cottage. We loved it. Thank you for helping us sort out the TV!! Your fresh milk and gelato were first class. Such a treat to have it on tap so to speak!! The location is fabulous for exploring the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean and so many gorgeous pubs/restaurants too. We loved sitting up in bed with the window open with a view at night time of the lights along the Severn and the Bridge. Very atmospheric. Lovely to hear the owls and the cows. You've lovingly created a real gem.

Beautiful house with beautiful views

Verified Up Front Reviews
A really beautiful house with the most stunning of views from both the house and the hot tub! Easy to find and as you walk through the gate to the front door your breath is taken away by the view across farmland and to the Bristol Channel and Seven bridge beyond. The house itself was immaculately presented, both stylish and comfortable, with many of the windows framing the view perfectly. The hot tub adds an additional bit of luxury. Lovely walks from the property but you will need a car if you to go out for something to eat. We did walk into Chepstow but decided the walk back was going to be too far and up hill all the way!

Fantastic stay at Wallhope Retreat

Verified Up Front Reviews
We had a wonderful week in the very beautiful and very well converted part of the farmhouse, Wallhope Farm. A cottage fully equipped both, inside and outside with a lovely lounge and jacuzzi. Where, due to the beautiful weather, we enjoyed every evening outside enjoying the view at the Severn, the farm's cows and the surrounding countryside. Respect to Sarah and Paul, and how they work hard with passion and love for people and nature to keep their beautiful farm running. Delicious milk from its own cows and about their ice cream, incredibly delicious…. The location is also excellent in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean, with the Brecon Beacons, Cardiff, Bath and the Cotswold nearby. Our stay was far too short to visit all that. This is a place we would definitely return to, but there is so much more beauty to see in England and Wales.....

This property is located on a working farm with views to die for. The ice cream and milkshakes produced and sold on the farm were a daily delight. Hosted perfectly by Sarah and Paul who are there if you want them but let you get on with your stay unobtrusively. The property is immaculate, comfortable and furnished to a high standard in all areas. The hot tub is recommended as an extra to relax after a day’s sightseeing. Surrounding area is full of hidden gems just waiting to be discovered. We would highly recommend a stay anytime of the year. Tim Jackie Dave.

A Great Break Away

Verified Up Front Reviews
We were drawn to the property as it looked very inviting and it was appealing to stay on a farm for a long weekend. When we arrived, not only was the house as per the images online, it was even better, the views were amazing, seeing not only the farm and the cows and calves but we could see both the bridges over the River Severn too. The property was very clean, well equipped, furnished and decorated to a high standard. We chose to use the hot tub as well which was lovely, especially looking out over the farm and the River Severn from it. The owners were very welcoming and the added bonus of fresh milk/milkshakes and gelato on tap was brilliant. Staying over the weekend we also had the luxury of the Ice Cream Trailor being open for business so we could try out all the varieties of gelato that were on offer. The negative side to this is that we left with a dent in our funds as we had to bring back 5 tubs of ice cream and two bottles of milkshake home with us LOL. So glad I packed the cooler bag and ice packs!! Its been a week now and we are wishing we had brought home more! Lots of local walks on the doorstep, local farm shops near by and great places to visit and eat. Tip: if you are going to stay, make sure you do take a cooler bag and Ice Packs!

Last year my sister had a little boy. My sister and I normally go away every year for a week’s holiday in the sun, along with my best friend. Not wanting to be away from her little one this year, we decided on a staycation over Easter. My mum also joined us with my little nephew. We were not disappointed in our choice of accommodation. The cottage is beautifully appointed with stunning views. Every room is tastefully decorated with a homely feel. The kitchen is well equipped and having the hot tub was an added bonus, especially with the uninterrupted views over the fields and the river. We had a wonderful stay, and the owners were very friendly and welcoming. We loved the addition of the milkshake, milk and ice cream vending machines. I would definitely recommend Wallhope Farm to anyone wanting a restful break, with rural views and plenty of places to go sightseeing and walking. The town of Chepstow has some good restaurants if you want to venture out, otherwise the cottage has everything you need for a self-catered holiday. We will be back!

My wife and our two daughters wanted to get a few days away after a very busy and hectic October. We found Wallhope Retreat, it ticked all the boxes, looked stunning and it was available! We booked around 10am and arrived the same day. Once we arrived it was clear that not only did it live up to the website but in fact it exceeded it! Beautifully furnished and decorated, exactly to our tastes. Sarah was available but left us to ourselves, the perfect host. We will be back, no doubt about it

Wallhope Retreat- New Year 2024

Verified Up Front Reviews
We stayed at Wallhope Retreat over New Year 2024 and had a brilliant time. The farmhouse is excellent, furnished beautifully throughout, and the owners Sarah and Paul have clearly catered for all eventualities. The free-standing bath in particular was lovely! We were looking for a relaxing family New Year break after the Xmas rush, and this was perfect for us. The location is great, situated within the dairy farm, and the kids loved popping round to ‘Moo HQ’, 30 seconds from the front door, to top up with fresh milk and milkshakes! The views over the farm down to the River Severn are fantastic, especially from the comfort of the hot tub! We also enjoyed lots of great walks direct from the house, with the Gloucestershire Way and Offa’s Dyke routes passing directly through the farm. Sarah was always on hand too if we needed anything, and checking in on us during Storm Henk, making sure we had everything we needed. We would absolutely recommend Wallhope Retreat to others.

We loved our stay at Wallhope. We were greeted by a spectacular view which took in the countryside and the Prince of Wales bridge. The cottage is beautiful - lovingly furnished and very comfortable and cosy. The perfectly placed hot tub in the garden is a real x-factor. Sarah and Paul were also fantastic hosts. We were even treated to a brilliant tour of the dairy farm which our little boy loved!

Absolutely insanely perfect

This is called a retreat and it really is. We arrived exhausted from work and left feeling completely revitalised. We are two mamas and a toddler. The bedrooms are MASSIVE. The cot was perfect for our 2 year old (the sides were super high which put our minds at ease) and the high chair was really easy to use and wipe clean. We had fun giving her a bath each night. It was beautiful. The moment we walked in we were hit with the most incredible fresh smell and greeted with homemade scones, fresh butter and local jam. We even sourced the hand soap and had it waiting for us when we got home! The house is so bright due to the many incredible windows that look out to the fields. The first words our daughter yelled each morning was moo moo cows! as she raced to find them from the many windows! I can’t tell you how many times we played hide and seek including in the garden with her teddy bear. It was truly magical. The hot tub was easily the best we have used. Easy to take the lid off and pop back on and the views were amazing. There were beautiful little lights in the garden which made it feel even more special. Sarah was a lovely host and you could see she took pride in the Wallhope. She has staged the house perfectly. We visited the surrounding towns which were lovely (the Forest of Dean had a fun walk for our daughter) but we didn’t feel the need to leave much more as we were so relaxed there. This really was the most perfect retreat!

Sarah and Paul have made a wonderful little retreat on their diary farm. They are both great hosts very hospitable, kind and helpful. The same goes for the dogs and cows . Certainly take the farm tour with Paul he is an excellent story teller. The whole place is very nicely build, spotless with a high standard finish. The kitchen is really outstanding equipped in regard to other places we have been to. The beds are excellent. Outside you have a great view over the fields and in the far the river. We enjoined the Hottub and the provided BBQ. It was a perfect stay.
