Lush green hills peppered with honey-hued houses form a breathtaking backdrop for The Old Tractor Shed - a spot that invites you to indulge in Cotswold living like a local. Undeniably cosy with its crackling wood burner and thick rustic beams, we love the serene ambience that weaves through this beautifully renovated tractor shed, once a place where the owners would store their farm vehicles. Situated on the edge of Cheltenham - a pearl of the Cotswolds, and a popular spa town where rows of gorgeous Regency terraces complement Georgian crescents - The Old Tractor Shed is just footsteps from the famous Cotswold Way, a 102 mile long-distance footpath running along the Cotswold Edge escarpment of the Cotswold Hills.

Overview

Simple elegance meets rustic charm when it comes to this cosy Cotswold hideaway. Situated in the heart of Gloucestershire, and just a stone's throw from Cheltenham, where centuries of history lie waiting to be discovered, The Old Tractor Shed is your bolthole for an unforgettable Cotswold stay. Whether you're an avid walker, keen cyclist or seasoned foodie, this special spot offers the best of both town and country life.

Set over two floors, The Old Tractor Shed welcomes you with a light, airy entrance hall before you're met with a charming living/dining area that forms the beating heart of the home. Here, a dining table for twelve sits under a thick beam that only adds to the charm of this place - complete with a bar and open fireplace, this majestic room only gets better. The kitchen is bright, airy and classically Cotswolds complete with a breakfast table and ample space for rustling up local produce or sipping on organic cider from nearby farm shop and taproom, Dunkertons. Spend evenings in the sitting room, perching in front of the finely crafted wood burner - the most comfortable spot to sink into a book or chat with friends and family to the sound of crackling flames.

Just a few footsteps from the property lies direct access to the breathtaking Cotswold Way, which you can follow for miles of majestic walks through The Cotswolds' symphony of scenic woodlands, weaving pathways and vast common land. When you get peckish, grab a drink and food at one of the glorious pubs in the area where popular spots include Winchcombe, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water - all within a short distance from The Old Tractor Shed.

Superb Barn

Verified Up Front Reviews
Wow, what a beautiful property with high end furnishings etc. We have just returned from celebrating my Mother's 90th birthday will all the family at The Old Tractor Shed - absolutely ideal for large family gatherings. The barn was tastefully decorated for Christmas, with a large open fire in the huge dining area, which also included it's own bar with 3 fridges! Emma was extremely easy, helpful and friendly to communicate with and on the Saturday night cooked us an amazing three course meal which she served to our family. I discussed the menu with Emma prior to our arrival and she gave me a price per head which was very reasonable in comparison to going out to a restaurant and in my opinion much more relaxing. I have rented quite a few holiday homes over the years (I have a reputation for being fussy!) and this one is most definitely up there with the best. Thank you Emma for making Mum's celebration such a memorable occasion.

Family stay.

Five adults and five children had a wonderful week together. The Old Tractor has plenty of room inside and out, for 'spacing out' and so we were not all on top of each other, all the time. Easy access to various places for day trips out. We took up the option of catering for our first and final evening. Emma provided a choice of delicious home cooked food which had generous portions and we felt, was very fairly priced. Do look at this as an option if you stay here, as well worth it. Emma is easy to communicate with to arrange this.

We stayed for a long weekend at The Tractor Shed and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is perfect - secluded enough and within easy reach of town with awesome places to eat and drink. The property was clean and tidy and with all the amenities listed. We felt right at home and will definitely be booking another stay here in the future.

Brilliant and quaint property

We had a great time at the Old Tractor Shed. Everything was in mint condition and the immense dining/living area was stunning. The secluded location (but still at an arm's reach to Cheltenham) was also a plus. We totally recommend this to a group of friends with/without kids.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay

What can we say other than our stay couldn't have been anymore perfect. We had 12 people staying and everyone was blown away with how modern and beautiful everything was. The barn was kitted out with more than enough kitchen products, cooking products, glasses and mugs. The cleanliness was top notch and everything in the barn was of super high quality. Emma was an amazing host with exceptional communication and super helpful. We literally have no bad comments or feedback to give. We are looking forward to booking again next year.

Wonderful luxurious country escape with walks on your doorstep

We booked our stay over the Xmas break and what a fantastic place to come too. The beautiful renovation of The Tractor Shed is amazing, the space, the beautiful interior styling & everything & more you could wish for in a self catering stay. So many lovely touches to welcome us here we’re so well thought so many lovely Xmas decorations & lots of lovely treats waiting for us. We really loved the log burner in the evenings & the space in the kitchen was amazing for the 6 of us. The bathrooms were so spacious & we could have stayed here indefinitely. Lovely walks on the Cotswold way right outside, we would have loved to walk more but not enough time too. The owner of the property was very nice & allowed us to check in earlier as no one was staying the previous days before us arriving which was kind. The farm was quiet and we loved the daily walk up & down the drive with the dog past the fields & horses. A short drive to lots of nearby Cotswold towns. A car is needed to get about unless you like to walk everywhere. You can probably get buses a few miles away but we didn’t need them . I definitely recommend staying here for a luxurious peaceful break in a lovely setting.

Loved it

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The home was spotless and beautifully maintained, making it easy to relax and settle in. The location couldn’t have been better—lovely, scenic walks right nearby and the most charming fluffy cows as neighbors, which our family adored. It was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy quality family time. Visiting in autumn was magical with the stunning colors all around. Thank you for a memorable getaway; we hope to return!

10 stars!

If I could this rental 10 stars I would! The home was absolutely beautiful, you could tell the owners put great thought and care into the property. It truly felt like a home away from home, with small thoughtful gestures like a baby gate for our small children and fresh eggs! The owners are extremely nice and accommodating! We will 100% be back! Great location to Cotswolds villages as well.

Excellent Cotswold home

The Old Tractor Shed is a beautiful barn conversion, comfortable and well-equipped. The owners are welcoming and friendly. The location is really good for exploring Cheltenham and the beautiful Cotswold villages. Good walking on the Cotswold Way and Cleeve Cloud. Easy walk to Dunkertons cider centre. A great place to celebrate my birthday with friends.

All We Could've Hoped For

Verified Up Front Reviews
We had a wonderful 10 night stay in The Old Tractor Shed which does not feel at all old when you walk through the door. Everything is very fresh and new. Fabulous sized boot room for all the coats and shoes which is very necessary considering the vagaries of the British weather this summer. Several times we came back to the house with dripping coats and soggy shoes - thankfully we did not need to trail anything through the cottage. Well appointed kitchen with all that we needed. Extremely sharp new knives which were a delight to use. Usually have to sharpen the knives wherever we stay. Bedrooms were lovely. Very comfortable beds. Bathrooms beautifully fitted with good sized showers and good-sized towel radiators. Very sheltered and pretty courtyard for sitting out on the days that were good. Close in to Cheltenham and all the restaurants there. Loved discovering the cider and other produce at Dunkertons Cider Shop which is just down the hill from the cottage.
