The cottage is a semi-detached (alongside Anne Boleyn Cottage), two-storey property with a well-equipped open plan kitchen/dining area and spacious living room that leads out through French doors to a seating area with countryside views.

During your stay, you are entitled to free admission to Sudeley Castle and Gardens during the Castle’s open season (except for separately ticketed events).

Overview

This pretty, 2-bedroom, semi-detached cottage is named after Queen Mary (the wife of King George V), who visited the Dent-Brocklehurst family at Sudeley Castle in 1944. Guests enter from a covered porch into the open-plan kitchen/dining room area with a large under-stairs storage (housing baby and cleaning equipment). A back door opens from the kitchen out to a small seating area.

Off the dining area, and down two stairs, is the living room with two large double sofas, a coffee table, occasional tables, and a smart TV, and French doors out to the seating area. Upstairs there is one double bedroom with a large dressing area, one twin bedroom, and a newly refurbished family bathroom with a large walk-in shower.

We recommend the Sudeley Castle circular walk for a relaxing stroll; a 2-mile loop setting off straight from the cottage’s front door, taking you into the grounds of historic Sudeley Castle - a must-visit for any guest. The 2.5 mile walk to Belas Knap, a Neolithic chambered long barrow sat atop Cleeve Hill, is also a great walk to try from the doorstep, providing you don’t mind the incline.

Very comfortable cottage in an ideal location

Verified Up Front Reviews
This is an ideal base for a visit to this beautiful part of the country. The cottage is very cosy, with everything you could possibly need for a very comfortable stay. Slight downside is that the wifi is a little temperamental - ok for day to day use, but didn't make it easy to watch Netflix etc! Small price to pay for such lovely accommodation. Winchcombe is a lovely town, with many independent stores and plenty of good restaurants/pubs/cafes to visit. It is a short stroll across the fields to reach Sudeley Castle (although if it is wet, a walk through Winchcombe to get to the castle is not that much longer!), which is definitely worth a visit. The castle and grounds are superb, and the exhibitions are very informative. The Cotswolds can get very busy in Summer, but at this time of year we didn't have any trouble parking in the tourist hot spots, and the weather was very pleasant to wander round. A well enjoyed rest - hopefully we will be back

What a difference a couple of months made

Verified Up Front Reviews
A few months ago we stayed in the same cottage and everything was dirty even down to blood on sheet, seid I would never go back but needs must so had to return to see a friend, the cottage was spot less. I run a business ,the management at Sudeley Castle instead of sitting on there back sides need to get out there and check what is going on, because management that cares get staff that care.

Nice well equipped cottage, great location but in need of TLC both inside and out. Wifi very intermittent which affected smart tv and mobiles.

Lovely short break

Verified Up Front Reviews
The cottage was lovely and very easy to live in, the double bed is a little small but ok. Garden bigger than expected. Lots of very nice walks and dog friendly places to go. We enjoyed our visit to the castle which was very interesting and informative. A pity you are unable to walk the dogs in the gardens but understand why not. We would return but to a larger cottage.

A lovely cottage with plenty of thoughtful extras

Verified Up Front Reviews
Beautifully clean and well furnished, with please outside seating and thoughtful extras such as a welcome pack of biscuits, milk, etc. Some minor decorative issues (bathroom windowsill, for example) and small oversights (such as flashlight batteries being flat). The wifi was pathetic and we were not convinced the router was switched on. Overall an enjoyable and comfortable stay.

A comfortable stay in an excellent location

Verified Up Front Reviews
The property was very clean and very well equipped with everything one could need for a visit. I was particularly impressed by the little touches such as providing milk for the first night plus a supply of tea, coffee and sugar. Everything was very comfortable and there was plenty of information for our stay about the property and the area. I only have two complaints. One was that the back door needs replacing. It was ill-fitting and on one particularly windy day the draught was unbelievable. Secondly the lighting in the kitchen and the lounge was over the top. The ceiling lights were exceedingly bright giving the impression of a hospital operating theatre! It was all or nothing. The lamps in the living room were OK if watching television but not enough if reading so we had to use the ceiling lights. It may have conformed to Health and Safety but killed any atmosphere. However, despite these complaints we had a very enjoyable stay.

Lovely cottage for weekend away

Verified Up Front Reviews
What a beautiful group of cottages you have! In a perfect position if you want to park the car for the weekend, pubs restaurants and small shops literally 4 minute walk away. Beautifully situated for walking the countryside or if you want to see more of the Cotswolds you're right in amongst it. A well equipped cottage with extra touch of tea coffee, etc, along with fresh milk! If I had to be critical, the double bed is a little hard, but no way can it suit everyone. A hiccup with the shower, but the maintenance were soon there to solve it! A lovely weekend break! 100% we will be back!

Christmas in the Cotswolds

Have stayed at this cottage on the Sudeley Castle estate many times before. It’s an excellent location for exploring the Cotswolds, and such a pretty village. The real Christmas tree was a lovely touch. Excellent walking routes nearby.

Lovely cottage with couple niggles

Verified Up Front Reviews
Great little spot for exploring Winchcombe and the whole of the Cotswolds. Lovely little cottage with ample parking. It has a massive kitchen and I was impressed with the amount of supplies / utensils provided including jam, hot chocolate, milk and sparkling wine. The only issue we had was that the shower water was either cold or like warm at best and when you shower, water leaks through the ceiling into the kitchen (despite securely closing the shower door as we had been instructed). If these issues were resolved I’d happily stay again.

We all enjoyed our weeks stay in Queen Mary cottage ,it was clean, spacious and having the bonus of an enclosed garden perfect for our dogs .The only downside being the gravel round the garden was very weedy and I had to clear an area for the dogs ..

Comfortable stay

We had a nice stay despite the weather. The car parking is excellent and the cottage well equipped. We thought it a little expensive but probably about right for the area. We have never had to pay a cleaning charge before. Free entrance to Sudely Castle is an added bonus.

Great litte place for exploring the Cotswolds

Verified Up Front Reviews
Easy to find and with ample parking available, this was a great little place for our family weekend away to explore the Cotswolds. The free entrance to Sudeley Castle was a bonus. The cottage was well equipped and well presented. Our only observation was the prior water leak from the shower that had come through to the ceiling below. It would be great if this could be sorted out.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Queen Mary. The cottages are in a lovely quiet location and the inside space is very comfortable for us and the dog. A short walk into the village provides great pubs and places to eat. Love being in the grounds of the Castle and there are so many lovely walks to enjoy. A couple of niggles, we needed to wash the kitchen floor with us and the dog traipsing in and out and I couldn't find a bucket and mop. Plus not enough toilet rolls supplied. 🙂

A lovely cottage especially if you are travelling with dogs. The enclosed courtyard was ideal for the morning and late night wee without having to put on their leads. The cottage was fully equipped with everything you could possibly want. Only a few minutes walk to Winchcombe town centre and a short drive to many other Cotswold towns/villages. Also a couple of minutes walk to be on the grounds of the castle with loads of walks for the dogs. An added bonus of course, was free access to the castle itself. The area was very quiet and we scarcely saw another person. We cannot wait to go again.

Wonderful Cotswolds stay

Verified Up Front Reviews
We absolutely loved our stay at the Queen Mary Cottage. We had everything we needed, as everything was catered for (even toiletries, and extras such as cling film, torches, a fan, cleaning equipment, teas and milk etc). Full facilities if you want to cook, do washing, iron (not that we did!). The cottage was spotless, which we were so pleased about. The location is perfect - beautiful spot. Included in the stay was free access to Sudeley Castle, which was fantastic. So much more there than expected, and a brilliant play area for the kids. The cottage is so close to Winchcombe centre, with a great pub just up the road (White Hart Inn). Parking space just at the rear of the property and you have access to the cottage at the back, so easy for uploading cases etc. Nice little courtyard area with table and chairs (if you choose a warmer time than we did). We would definitely recommend staying here, and would look to come back (or try another one of the cottages).

Winchcombe 4 night break

Verified Up Front Reviews
We are previous guests at Sudeley Cottages albeit from some time ago and we have also stayed at Queen Mary before .Cottage has been refurbished since then to a very good standard and on arrival cottage was very clean and well presented all round..Cottage is spacious and with a small but adequate sitting out area. Winchcombe town pubs and restaurants just a short walk away. Plenty of nice walks nearby and, particularly if you have children, take a trip on the nearby heritage steam railway line to Broadway or Cheltenham. Only criticism is that whilst very clean on arrival, as it is dog friendly the vacuum cleaner left for guests use to tidy round had not been cleaned out and was full of very smelly dog hairs etc which unfortunately pervaded the cottage for some time after use,, Needs to be emptied and disinfected as part of the pre-arrival cleaning regime. That is why have given 4 on condition otherwise would have been top marks..

QUEEN MARY COTTAGE

Verified Up Front Reviews
Stayed at Queens Cottage for a month in November 20 and most recently Queen Mary Cottage Jan/Feb 21. Queen Mary Cottage was very clean and comfortable, but very cold even with the heating on full blast (lots of draughts from windows and under doors). The fridge is very small (I have seen bigger mini bar fridges) and does not work as well as it should. Up stairs shower is in need of an upgrade as the water pressure is very weak and the shower door is in need of repair. My booking was initially for 14 nights but I needed to extend for a further 2 nights, which I arranged with Bolthole Retreats. The lady dealing with my request was very unhelpful and rude and is in need of some customer service training. Boltholes retreats charged me a further £392.20 for 2 extra nights which I thought was excessive, I asked for a small discount which was denied.

A Cotswolds Delight

We recently enjoyed a fabulous 5 day stay at Sudeley Cottages staying in the delightfully charming Queen Mary Cottage. It was superbly located being a 2 minute walk into the beautiful Winchcombe village, a 5 minute drive to Cleve Hill and a 20 minute drive from most of the wonderful Cotswold villages such as Bourton-on-the-water, Stowe-on-the-Wold and Broadway. The cottage was amply stocked and a perfect winter getaway for a family of 4. The bottle of Prosecco was also a lovely touch. Thoroughly recommended!

A three-week stay in the Cotswolds

Verified Up Front Reviews
The cottage is in a great location, and looks great, with plenty of parking. We had booked it for three weeks with our two dogs, so the fields just around the corner were a real plus. The furniture was very comfortable, as were the beds. Unfortunately there is no washing machine in the cottage. The cottage had great lighting on the first floor, but is very dark downstairs, even with all the lights on. The vacuum cleaner that is provided may be ok for a week's stay without dogs, but was not up to the task for a full three week stay with two Labradors. There were some maintenance issues which we have passed on to the management company. A great place if you're only staying for a few days.
