Prince Rupert is a dog-friendly apartment cottage, which sleeps 3 guests across one double and one single bedroom. The accommodation is arranged over two floors, with a living area, dining area and fully equipped kitchen downstairs and the two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. Prince Rupert is in the converted Old Forge, and has an outdoor terrace with table and chairs to dine al fresco and read a book on sunny mornings.

During your stay, you are entitled to free admission to Sudeley Castle and Gardens during the Castle’s open season (except for separately ticketed events).

Overview

This apartment cottage is named after Prince Rupert of the Rhine, a nephew of King Charles I, who commanded the Royalist cavalry during the English Civil War and made Sudeley his headquarters. Tucked away at the back of the Sudeley Castle cottages complex, Prince Rupert is a charming choice for exploring this historic area. The ground floor has a bright and light open plan living area, dining area and fully equipped kitchen overlooking the main courtyard. A pretty, divided staircase leads up to the double bedroom and family bathroom to the left and the single bedroom (with under-eaves space for a ‘folding’ bed) to the right.

Ground Floor

The living/Dining/Kitchen area is open-plan.

Stepping into the dining area from the decking and outside seating area, you’ll immediately be struck by the light and airy feel of this apartment cottage.

Dining Area:
The dining area is furnished with a round, oak dining table and chairs to comfortably accommodate 4 guests.

The kitchen has all the appliances, cookware, crockery and glassware you need for a self-catering holiday, including a, oven/hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine and a washer-dryer.

Sitting Room:
A comfortable sofa, sink-in armchair with a footstool provide plenty of seating for 4 in the carpeted living area. In addition, the living area is furnished with an oak coffee table, occasional tables and a smart TV. An understair cupboard in the living room houses a travel cot, stair gate, highchair, iron, ironing board, and airer, as well as the dog basket (with stainless steel bowl and blanket).

First Floor

There is a divided staircase to reach the first floor.

Bedroom One:
The master bedroom is furnished with an oak frame standard double bed, small chest of drawers, bedside tables and individual overbed lights with reading and room lighting. This dual aspect bedroom, with windows to the front and back, has a small hanging cupboard and hooks to store guests’ clothing.

Bedroom Two:
Furnished with an oak frame single bed, bedside table and individual overbed light with reading and room lighting, this is a cosy bedroom with views to the rear over the garden and decking area. Hooks in the main bedroom area are provided for hanging clothes, while an under-the-eaves extension off the main sleeping area houses a chest of drawers and hanging hooks.

Family Bathroom:

A Cotswold Castle

Verified Up Front Reviews
I was a volunteer for a couple of days on an archaeological dig at Sudeley Castle so needed somewhere convenient to stay. The Prince Rupert was ideal! It was spacious, well-appointed, quiet and comfortable and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It was only a short walk over the fields to Sudeley Castle and also extremely close to the amenities on offer in the delightful town of Winchcombe. The cottage was only a stone's throw from a network of footpaths including the Cotswold Way, so I enjoyed a wander up to the atmospheric Belas Knap Long Barrow on the Monday. A relaxing stay at Prince Rupert is highly recommended!

Good quiet location near to amenities

Verified Up Front Reviews
The accommodation was adequate for the short stay I was there. The kitchen is well equipped. Overall it was clean but there were cobwebs around the beams and windows. It did feel a bit shabby and ready for a lick of paint and a furniture upgrade. The bathroom has seen better days. The wi-Fi was terrible and I could barely get emails. There was no chance of working or streaming any films. The location is very good - quiet and peaceful but within walking distance to Winchcombe.

Super Location for Winchcombe and Walking

Verified Up Front Reviews
Winchcombe itself is just a short walk away from the cottage, so it made a perfect base for our short break, especially with easy parking available. Many 'day out' destinations were close by, but Sudeley Castle (entry included in the cost), GWSR steam railway and Winchcombe's lovely walks were all accessible on foot. The cottage's kitchen was excellent and very well equipped and the bed comfortable, but the bathroom and shower, paint finishes and table tops were a little worn and in need of some TLC. Overall, an enjoyable stay in an excellent location.

Great location, kitchen, dining area. Needs higher back settee and chair that are supportive. Sofa had lost any support. Shower hose and end needs replacing. Rail for stairs up to property needs to be continuous. Great to be close to good places to eat in Winchcombe and to many footpaths and to have access to Sudeley Castle. Would be interesting to have more history re building.

Excellent accommodation in a perfect location, within easy walking distance of the fascinating and historic Sudeley Castle and the town of Winchcombe with great character, good pubs and a fine selection of eating. It has been an amazing time! The cottage and the surrounding are gorgeous. It is an ideal place for a weekend away, birthdays ( my husband's milestones one ). It provides you with everything you need and there is a big table outside. Recommend it to everyone. Last time we rented Charles I.

We loved the location, how clean the place was and equipment in the kitchen. Free access to Sudeley Castle was definitely a bonus. Very slow Internet connection was bit of a surprise. I suspect that it might be a simple configuration issue and easy to fix.

Quaint little accommodation within easy walking distance from both the village and Sudeley Castle. We also found that when showing the key fob, we got free access around Sudeley Castle which saved quite a few pounds. Such an excellent place to visit - it took us 3 different days and we are sure there will still be more to see!!

Castle cottage’s staying at Sudeley

Verified Up Front Reviews
Before booking i knew castle was shut day before but was assured we would have access to some of the gardens around the castle but while staying we weren’t allowed. Building looked very nice on arrival with nice tea, biscuits coffee machine etc. Upstairs two bedrooms unfortunately my wife found a dozen dead flies under pillow and whiskers in shower. Ceiling were very low upstairs but only got scalped once in the bedroom. Kitchen well fitted out with washing machine and dishwasher. The area around Sudeley outstanding.

A nice property in an ideal location

Verified Up Front Reviews
An ideal property for a couple or a small family. It was very clean and had all amenities especially in the kitchen. It is an old building and that constrains the layout. So people need to be aware that the bedrooms are both small, with little headroom and little storage space. But that is also part of the charm. It is very close to shops and pubs etc. but far enough away to be quiet. Parking was easy. Sudeley castle is a must see, but there are plenty of other things to do in the area. We did some lovely walks straight from the front door.

Mike Conway

Ok but wouldn’t return

Verified Up Front Reviews
Unfortunately the whole cottage smelt of damp which for a summer stay was unexpected. The bed sheets for the double room had been left in the washing machine for too long and consequently smelt and left the smell on your skin after lying in it. The bedding is also well past its replacement date. Felt like a disappointing experience for a stay which is nearly £200 a night - but I understand it’s the Cotswolds so comes at a premium price. In their defence we didn’t bother complaining at the time as we were there for a wedding so was a quick stop, so they didn’t have the opportunity to rectify. However we wouldn’t return or recommend to people in the area. I’d probably stump up a little extra to stay in a local inn/pub where I don’t need to empty my own bins on exit.

Nadia Kebble

Very enjoyable stay

Verified Up Front Reviews
Just a couple of points, not criticisms but it would have been useful to know: To access the cottage there are quite a few steps and I'm not sure that we were made aware of this? Unfortunately every area of the country has different rules regarding household waste and recyling. It would have been useful to have had some guidance in the cottage itself so that we could comply.

Beautiful Cotswold Cottage

Verified Up Front Reviews
Beautiful Cotswold cottage in an amazing location. Exactly right for our visit 'back home'. We hardly needed to use the car. It's location on the edge of Winchcombe meant walking into town and into Sudeley Castle was easy, to say nothing of countryside walks. If you're looking for a genuinely peaceful location in a gorgeous setting look no further. The only slight niggle was the toaster didn't work - it blew the electrics each time we tried. I reported it but it wasn't changed for the following day. We used the oven grill instead so no biggie.

Deborah Major

Lovely cottage

Verified Up Front Reviews
Was in great location, lovely & peaceful place & loved Sudley Castle, cottage needed maintenance as there were a few issues especially the dust on the top of cupboards & wardrobes, but the worst thing was the bathroom when we arrived was full of flies which had travelled through the cottage, which took us ages to clear, ( we did not get there till early evening & my husband had been driving for about 5 hours throughout the day so we're both rather tired) we could not leave windows open for this reason & I do like to air the rooms of a morning, wether this is an ongoing problem I do not know, night light on stairs needed fixing as not very bright, curtains hanging off rails, did not report it as we were out all day, but I would stay again only If these issues were resolved, the cottage did get an award but did not live up to it for the cost for 4 nights in October, hence in my opinion they had just left all the issues as It was the end of the season possibly.

Lovely Property in a Quiet and Pleasant Location

Verified Up Front Reviews
Prince Rupert Cottage turned out to be the ideal choice for a long weekend in the heart of the Cotswold countryside. Just a short stroll from Winchcombe's charming high street and town centre, the property is ideally located for exploring the local area. There are some lovely walking routes nearby, including the public footpaths surrounding the house and grounds of the Sudeley estate (to which guests staying at the cottage are granted free admission). Winchcombe is home to some very nice shops and eateries, and there is also the regular 'W' bus service to Cheltenham which departs from the war memorial bus stop just a short distance from the top of Castle Street. It's perhaps worth bearing in mind that the walk up to the high street involves scaling a bit of a hill towards the upper end of Castle Street. The cottage itself is also accessed via a series of ascending and descending stone steps, as well as a number of additional wooden steps which lead up to the entrance of the property. The cottage is very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Given the age of the property, some of the upstairs floorboards tend to be rather creaky in places, and the low ceiling beams mean having to be a bit careful when accessing one or two of the nooks and crannies in the bedrooms. Unfortunately, the pine chest of drawers in the single room was damaged to the point of being unusable at the time of our visit (October 2023) - an issue which can hopefully soon be resolved. Overall, a very pleasant and relaxing place to stay.

Beautiful cottage in a wonderful location

Verified Up Front Reviews
The cottage is extremely comfortable, beautifully furnished and VERY fully equipped. Such a great place to stay in the centre of Winchcombe and with free access to the wonderful Sudeley Castle. Lovely pubs, cafes, delis etc. in short walking distance. We recommend 'The Corner Cupboard' and 'William's' in particular. It's worth checking in advance what's open on different days of the week, though, especially out of summer season. Sudeley castle is amazing. It's really worth timing your visit to hear the talk, as it gives you so much background with which to explore the castle. Take a picnic!

The cottage was absolutely lovely, cute but also very comfy. Further everything you needed was provided. We felt very lucky to stay in this cosy perfect cottage and would always come back to it.Being able to visit Sudeley Castle during our stay without paying was a nice surprise. The pubs in Winchcombe are very open to visitors so that we had several chatty evenings. We recommend the White Heart Inn for its food, its ales and of course for its top atmosphere.

+ Lovely cottage and surroundings, Nicely done up with comfy furniture, books and paintings, Many kitchen facilities, Free entrance to Sudeley Castle (well worth seeing), Wide parking space, Winchcombe is a lovely place as well and has many to do and see nearby. (-) Would be nice to have different bins in the kitchen to sort the garbage, since there are different containers outside. And coming from Sudeley Hill it is likely to oversee the signpost of the site.

I stayed for 2 nights at the Prince Rupert cottage. The 3D tour on the website that I used before I made my booking was a true reflection of the cottage and helpful in my decision to book the cottage. I had no problems locating the cottage and accessing the property. The cottage is a short walk from Sudeley castle and restaurants. There is also a small supermarket nearby however a pint of milk and coffee/tea are provided upon arrival. It is in a peaceful quiet area. I was very happy with my stay and I am already looking at booking again for next year.

Nice cottage in a great location , cottage is a little dated in decor and does need a touch up with the decoration but was clean and had everything we needed .. great location for staying with pets although it would have been nice had the garden been fenced in . The deck outside was a nice spot for breakfast but in places was rotting so felt a little precarious and wasn’t very clean .. no seat pads for the table and chairs either and the table was old and very weathered . Overall it was a lovely stay as the walks around the property were lovely .

Short stay at Prince Rupert Cottage

Verified Up Front Reviews
Although the check in time was from 4pm we arrived early (midday) to find that the cottage had already been cleaned and we were able to use it right away. We were pleasantly surprised to see that it was a very modern interior, extremely clean and comfortable with a selection of essentials for tea/coffee/biscuits etc. but also included little things like dishwasher tablets, cleaning products and full set of kitchen items. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom spacious with separate shower cubicle. We were pleased to see that the TV was very modern and had apps installed for Netflix and Amazon Prime which were easy to log into and use. The location was ideal with it being a short walk to Winchcombe High Street and Sudeley Castle. In summary it was the perfect place to stay for a short visit to Sudeley Castle and/or the Cheltenham area and I would highly recommend it.

Prince Rupert at Sudeley Castle, Winchecombe

Verified Up Front Reviews
Very spacious downstairs, and nicely decorated. Well-organized bathroom. Very nice that this lodging comes with free entry to Sudeley Castle. In a lovely courtyard with the other castle rental cottages. I was worried about one bedroom being up the other half of the staircase (halfway down, then up again to the bathroom), but it worked out better than I thought (you can gain momentum going down, that carries you up the other side!) A chair in the second bedroom (at the foot of the twin bed) would be helpful, for either sitting or holding a suitcase. Winchecombe is a lovely town. We spent four nights there, taking walks, visiting the castle, learning the town's history, eating at the local pubs/bakery/restaurants, etc., all without a car. Although the last block up to the town from the cottages is a bit of a climb, for those of us not in the best of shape!

Excellent stay in a lovely location!

Verified Up Front Reviews
We really enjoyed our stay at the Prince Rupert unit at Sudeley Castle and so glad we booked this place! Wonderful location - quiet with deck facing greenery where one of the footpaths were located, behind some shrubbery for privacy. This is super close to downtown Winchcombe and easy to walk to shops, restaurants, bakery, and market. The unit itself is much larger than we anticipated. The kitchen is updated and included all the amenities we needed for our 2-night stay. Felt really spacious and clean. We appreciated the espresso machine and pods, electric water heater, and pots/pans, serving ware and silverware. The only thing that didn't work perfectly was a leaking kitchen sink faucet that dribbled water continuously. Nice big table in kitchen to have our breakfasts. The living room is small-ish but since it's next to the kitchen, didn't feel cramped. There is a love seat and a side armchair with ottoman that are both comfortable. Bathroom upstairs is nice with only a shower, which worked for us. We slept in the main bedroom (small-ish) with larger bed. The other bedroom with single bed we used as a "closet" to store our luggage since the main bedroom didn't fit these. The only con are the lengths of beds - my husband is 6ft 2in and the beds were too short for him (and there is a foot and head board), so sleeping was unfortunately uncomfortable. Super quiet location for sleeping. Nice restaurants and bakery nearby. Perfect location to access several different footpaths. We did a short 5 mile loop - via the Cotswolds Way to Belas Knap and then back on the Winchcombe Way, which was great. We're glad we rented this unit rather than the Gate House as this felt like it had more privacy. Highly recommended.

Beautiful cottage with own small decking area outside. Very clean and well maintained. Surprisingly warm and modern inside but with the character you would expect. Big wooden beams along with a rain shower! Perfect for our family of 3. Location excellent with footpaths into the town and only 5 or 10 minutes away (although worth noting quite a steep hill) Some great antique shops and a Nisa local for shopping. Lovely walk through the field in front of the decking to Sudeley Castle which is free for cottage renters. We had a fantastic and peaceful stay and would return again.

We arrived on Saturday afternoon. As we tried to put the code number in the lock one of the number stuck. We called few times the mobile emergency number which was given by the booking office. It rang and kept on getting disconnected. I called their other mobile number few times and kept on leaving messages. Nobody got back to us. I was lucky that my son arrived later on and somehow manged to sort it out and we could get to the room. we were at the cottages for 3 days. Nobody called me back. On the wall in the cottage there is a certificate for the Best Customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder if they have actually tested the system before award them the certificate

Great location for the castle and the town.

Verified Up Front Reviews
The location was wonderful. Do not expect restocking of anything during your stay. It makes travel with children more difficult. During times of higher heat the bedrooms can become hot and will not cool until late into the night of early morning. I was not very sure how to contact staff. Not being a custom to touch less stays I was not sure how to best approach issues with our stay.

The cottage was lovely, very clean and well presented. We also went up to the castle which we really enjoyed and is included for people staying in the cottages. One downfall personally was when we arrived we were carrying our cases across the car park which is all loose stones and there is a lip across the middle and I tripped going headlong across the stones badly damaging my hand and elbow do please be careful.

As a long term solo traveler without a car, I look for spaciousness and pleasing accommodations, comfort, close proximity to all necessities, peaceful surroundings, beautiful walks from the doorstep, and good communication with the property. Prince Rupert cottage checked off everything on my list and more.

Experienced the most amazing short break

Verified Up Front Reviews
What a wonderful cottage, stayed at Prince Rupert Sudley Castle, amazing location and amenities in the cottage and what a location, we also had good weather, a real bonus. Worth the wait we had to wait two years due to COVID and a big thank you to Boltholt Retreats for being so flexible we had to re-schedule 4 times as my friend was joining me from Copenhagen. Also booked an extra night so my husband to join me at the end of our stay. We would all definitely go again.

Apartment not checked before we arrived

Verified Up Front Reviews
We had another great weekend, but there were dead flies in the single bedroom on the carpet when we arrived and more flying around the apartment.

Lovely relaxed weekend stay.

Verified Up Front Reviews
A lovely relaxed stay ay the sudley Castle cottages, clean and well equipped and some lovely finishing touches, warm and inviting as we entered. We will love to stay again.

A comfortable cottage and beautiful countryside to enjoy.

Verified Up Front Reviews
Spent a thoroughly enjoyable week at Winchcombe, a great base for walking, lots of lovely walks straight from the cottage, no need to use the car which is always a bonus. The cottage was clean, well presented, the heating worked and there was plenty of hot water and an efficient shower. The kitchen was adequately equipped, no clutter and unnecessary items which can sometimes be the case in holiday cottages, the cooker heated up quickly and cooked food in the expected time. A quiet place to stay, no noise from other guests and no noticeable traffic noise. Happy to recommend Sudeley Castle Cottages. Something for the owners to consider is installing an electric vehicle charging point which may broaden the customer base, as far as I could make out the nearest charging point was in Stow at least 20 minutes away. If there are any nearer to the cottages it would be helpful to have this advertised on the website.

Lovely little break. Felt like a little treat.

Verified Up Front Reviews
Lovely little break away from normal routine. We live in Chipping Norton, only 40 minute drive but felt like we were on holiday as country side and castle grounds felt very different. Loved Winchcombe as so historic and classic Cotswold feel. No wonder foreign travellers crave the architectural beauty and rolling countryside. Would like to visit Sudely Castle and grounds in the summer as October viewing was abit dormant but still beautiful.

Very enjoyable stay

Verified Up Front Reviews
We very much enjoyed our time in Prince Rupert, and so did our dog! There could have been more kitchen utensils, kitchen cleaning equipment (such as a scourer and washing up brush and more cloths) and a better frying pan, but other than that everything that was provided was good quality.

A charming perfect place

Verified Up Front Reviews
Absolutely wonderful, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The cottage is in a ideal location for walkiing the beautiful areas in the Cotswolds. The cottage was clean and welcoming plus very well equipped, especially the kitchen. The space in the cottage was a good size with a excellent bathroom and shower. Overall the cottage is of a high-quality and a perfect place to stay.

Lovely week

Verified Up Front Reviews
Nice week in Winchcombe. Accommodation smaller than I had anticipated but I am 6’5”. Great walk for the dog access into the caste grounds is lovely. Choice of food in Winchcombe is superb. Daughter loved the free hot chocolate - thank-you. My only concern would be sectioning off the decking area to allow dogs outside while owners relax on the decking also. Would definitely return.

Another enjoyable stay

Verified Up Front Reviews
We really like the Cotswolds - lots to see and do, and whenever we visit we stay at Sudeley Cottages as they are so convenient and the accommodation and facilities are of a high standard; free entry to the castle and gardens is also a welcome bonus as they are beautifully maintained.

Perfect place

Verified Up Front Reviews
Me, my husband and 7 month old baby had a wonderful stay in this cottage. It was perfect location for exploring the area. It had everything we needed and more. We were very warm during the night so bring a fan if you tend to get warm and visit during warm weather. Highly recommend and would stay again. Very professional, thank you!

Very good standard

Verified Up Front Reviews
We booked 2 cottages for a family break combined with Giffords Circus. The accommodation and facilities are faultless and the location is just perfect with access the Sudeley Castle grounds and a quick walk to Winchcombe village with its shops, pubs and restaurants. We couldn’t ask for anything more.

Would return BUT

Verified Up Front Reviews
Lovely place to stay with Winchcombe an excellent town and base. Found the stairs outside quite hard and when the temperature dipped the heating did not come on (set at 28! whatever that might mean) Thought the place was a bit high tech-3 remote controls for TV seemed a bit incomprehensible

Spotlessly clean

Verified Up Front Reviews
Had a 2 day break in this lovely little cottage. Location is fabulous, nice and quiet but only 5 mins walk into Winchcombe, which has some lovely shops and restaurants / pubs. The property had everything we need, including a welcome tray and fantastic towels and toiletries. Plenty of parking and just down the road from Sudeley castle, which is well work a visit.

Well equipped for all your needs

Stunning scenery and tranquil setting. Cottage is very well maintained minus the creaking floorboards! Facilities and utensils are well thought out for self catered meals. Slightly pricey but redeemed by the free entry into the castle grounds which is well worth a visit. Ideal location for dogs and anyone doing the Cotswolds Maverick trail race series!!

Great location to explore the Cotswolds

Verified Up Front Reviews
Prince Rupert cottage is a spacious, comfortable property equipped to a very high standard, with many additional touches to start your stay. The cottage is in the heart of Winchcombe and is a great base to explore the Cotswolds. There are a number of pubs and restaurants nearby, as well as lovely deli and food shops within the village if you want to cook in the property. The cottage has plenty of parking and free entry to the Castle is a great bonus

Beautiful accommodation in a great location

Verified Up Front Reviews
Prince Rupert did not disappoint. It was easily accessed, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We really appreciated the extras like the welcome pack and the Nespresso coffee machine. The location was also ideal. Winchcombe was a fantastic base for our walking holiday and we found lots of lovely places to eat out on the doorstep.

Wonderful week away

Verified Up Front Reviews
We have just returned from a great week away in Winchcombe. The location is superb being a 2 min stroll to all the village services, numerous wonderful walks from the cottage and next to Sudeley Castle. The accommodation was of a very high standard. Very clean and tidy and kitchen very well equipped. Cottage was more than large enough for my wife and I and our 11 month old. Very special place to spend a week. Fish and Chip shop in the village was great. Very quiet and peaceful and we will be returning. Very limited interaction with the staff on site which was fine however we had expected a few more supplies to be there but not a huge issue. Accommodation was great value for money and we had a week to remember there. Look forward to returning .

A lovely, hideaway in a glorious setting.

Verified Up Front Reviews
Prince Rupert cottage was a wonderful base for a short summer break. Winchcombe is a beautiful little village with a great selection of shops and eateries. The cottage has everything anyone could need for a stay; well planned out and furnished. A number of great little foodie comforts were available on arrival which helped us to relax immediately. The only issue we had during the stay (an issue for anyone over 6 foot tall) was that the bed was a little short; I slept the nights we were there with my feet and legs hanging over the end. A relaxed and very enjoyable stay.

Comfortable cottage, with all facilities that we needed.. Took a while to warm up as heating wasnt on and probably hadn't been for a while, heating set to come on too late when it's so cold. Luckily we had with us some WD40 as door look so stiff we couldn't shut door or open easily, the very wet weather hadn't helped. Otherwise a good restful 2 days .

BOLTHOLE TREASURE

Verified Up Front Reviews
A very comfortable cottage for two people , plus dog. Free entry to Sudeley Castle appreciated. Room for improvement through : .An acknowledgement of final payment would have been nice, . Review additional charges as feel a charge for cleaning and a charge for a dog is excessive, .not replacing carbon monoxide monitor before expiry date meant a disturbed nights sleep when battery alarm went off. Batteries in torch were also too low.

I wanted a cottage for my visiting family, that was also near enough to meet up without need of a car. With me living in Winchcombe, the Sudeley cottage was ideal. The Prince Rupert cottage was good/excellent in all aspects; a memorable w/end break. I may also add, that the online description of this cottage was matched by the reality -- well done.

Honeymoon with family!

Verified Up Front Reviews
We booked four of the Sudeley castle cottages to spend time with family who had traveled from New Zealand for our wedding. We have stayed in the cottages a number of times before, so we knew the location was perfect, but this was our first stay since the cottages have been refurbished and we were incredibly impressed. The bathrooms are now fantastic, previously I couldn't stand up in the shower, but that's not a problem now. The kitchen is very well equipped and the cottages are beautifully furnished throughout. Will definitely be returning.

Mini break

Verified Up Front Reviews
I stayed here with my 82 year old Father, very comfortable, home from home, well equipped. Problem with heating when we arrived but I rang the office and engineer arrived within the hour to sort it out. A great base for exploring locally especially the steam railway.

Jane Ellis

Overall excellent - but a few pointers for improvements.

Verified Up Front Reviews
We very much enjoyed our stay - but had a few issues with the cottage. The main problem was the heating - the instructions provided were poor and it seemed random whether it was on or off. The lack of hand towels was unhelpful. Also a large pan would have been useful. We still had a lovely time - what a great location.

Sarah Hudson

Perfect location to visit Sudeley Castle,Winchcome and other places of interest.

The cottage was perfect a mix of olde worlds charm and modern comforts nothing on the place jarred, the attention to detail second to none, look forward to a return visit.

We needed a place to stay in the countryside and with a new baby, this was ideal. enough space, all the amenities and requirements available, the countryside on your doorstep, locally sourced foods, away from the hustle and bustle of big cities, but close enough if needed. Our stay at Sudeley was great: convenient check-in, clean facilities, perfect location, friendly staff. We had a great day visiting the castle and used the other days to visit the many surrounding villages. I’d highly recommend this location for a Cotswold stay!

A lovely place, but....

Verified Up Front Reviews
A lovely place...just missing a few things. Only one tea towel is not sufficient. Also only 1/2 a roll of toilet paper. I understand it is self catering but for the high price we paid for our stay that was a little cheap. Salt and pepper would have been nice too. Visiting from Canada it isn’t feasible to bring from home and just would have pushed our stay from good to excellent all round.

John Staring

Really lovely place to stay

Verified Up Front Reviews
A song-thrush was in full voice soon into our first evening. It is so peaceful with just the sounds of the country. The cottage is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. In particular the kitchen had everything we needed for self-catering. The bed was comfortable, the water was hot. As you can hear, we liked it a lot

Chris Cain

Ideal cottage and ideal situation but

Verified Up Front Reviews
We were not given directions to the cottage, and not given the code for the front door key. We got in after using the emergency phone on site but it is not what you need after a 250 mile journey!

Disappointing as not as advertised nor booked. Mislead overpriced rude unhelpful host

Verified Up Front Reviews
Arrived at the cottage to find a double bed and a single not what we had booked which was a double and a twin. We were a party of 4 adults and after a 4 hour journey on a hot day we found this very frustrating. After a conversation we were provided with a very basic camp bed!!!! Not acceptable. The property was not as described and was over priced. The whole week was an inconvenience only 3 chairs on the balcony only one two seater sofa and one armchair. No hand towel in the bathroom nor kitchen. Quite a basic cottage and to top it off there was no salt nor rinse aid in the dishwasher and the blind was broken in the bedroom. The toilet also had hair in it!!! A lovely period cottage that could be so lovely. Really disappointing especially when I had emailed to clarify that the cottage was indeed suitable for 4 adults.

A good place to stay in Winchcombe

Verified Up Front Reviews
We were using the cottage as overnight accommodation for a family celebration nearby. Recently refurbished and updated, it was a convenient and comfortable base - once we had mastered the heating control (the first night we overheated). The cottage was described as sleeping 3 but the second bedroom is, we discovered on arrival a twin and not a single. Access is via a number of steps and stairs.

Great Location - Recently Refurished

Verified Up Front Reviews
I stayed here as base accommodation while working in the area. The little hamlet the cottages are situated in is lovely and very 'quaint'; like a number of the cottages I have stayed in here they all seem to have little quirks in layout but this only adds to the overall charm. Cottage was overall nice and clean and all staff were a pleasure to deal with (kept my lost property back and personally delivered it to my place of work). The addition of dishwashers to the newly refurbished apartments is a real bonus but I wished I had looked around more to find the fact that they had provided a couple of tablets before going out and purchasing some. Walking routes in the guide are good as well. Highly recommend going out to the roman mosaic the fact that it is so excellently persevered under a tarp in the middle of a wood is pretty amazing. One minor thing with the cottage was the fact that the dressing area within the twin single room is optimistically sized at best. However, I imagine it would be perfect for young children who enjoy dressing up and such; I cannot see an adult fitting.
