Overview
Set at the far end of the owner’s garden with beautiful views of the hills beyond, Outbak is a charmingly appointed shepherds hut with a wood-fired hot tub. This peaceful spot is perfect for walkers with the Cotswold Way footpath less than half a mile away and a multitude of walks close by.
As you step inside, you'll find a light, airy and thoughtfully appointed space. There's a large, very comfortable king-size bed that fills one end of the hut along with two easy chairs, a sleek kitchen area with a Belfast sink and a shower room at the opposite end. Outbak has central heating with thermostatically controlled radiators so even in the coldest of weather you'll stay warm and toasty.
Outbak sits within its own private decked area with beautiful views and big skies. The wood-fired hot tub is screened on three sides for privacy, there's a bistro table for two and it's a lovely place to enjoy a quiet morning coffee as the birds soar overhead. The deck becomes a real suntrap in the summer months as the sun moves around and occasionally in the distance you might spot the single jet gravity fed fountain as it shoots 300 metres into the air at Stanway House.
Inside
A set of steps lead to a hinged stable door which opens into a delightfully appointed open-plan sleeping, kitchen-dining area. The white-washed interior is calm and peaceful, the pale wooden floor adds a hint of colour whilst a gentle glow comes from the decorative filament lightbulbs that provide lighting throughout.
Sleeping Area:
The super-comfy king-size bed is on a raised platform and there's a cunningly hidden step beneath. Lie here and enjoy the blissful, rural views through the large window. Early birds can also draw the blind and watch the sun rising over the hills beyond. Soft linens and plump pillows make this a cosy and inviting space. A wide shelf runs along the top of the bed and there's hanging storage space at the top of the bed, where you'll also find robes and slippers. A smart TV is mounted above the bed so you can just relax and catch up on your favourite box sets.
Living-Dining-Kitchen Area:
Two mid-century-style wooden chairs with cushions and cosy throws sit on either side of a small drinks table, against the other wall a fold-down table with two spindle back chairs provide a place for breakfast and easy meals. A jute rug adds a hint of colour to the space and there is also a multi-hook rack for hanging clothes.
The kitchenette area is fitted with pale grey, shaker style cupboards housing all the practical things needed for a shepherd’s hut stay. There's a microwave and fridge with a freezer box and a two-ring electric hob. Even washing up seems less of a chore when you're stood at the window of your own cute Shepherds hut, looking out at the beautiful countryside beyond.
Bathroom:
The beautifully appointed shower room is at the far end of the hut and comprises a surprisingly spacious shower cubicle with a rainfall shower, a vintage-style raised toilet cistern with pull chain and an oval handbasin that sits atop a cupboard with storage beneath. There is a good size bathroom mirror and natural light from the window to the side. The towel rail hangs over the radiator ensuring warm, dry towels every time.
Outside
The wood-fired hot tub is the perfect place to rest weary bones after a day of exploring, relax amongst the bubbles and feel your cares drift away. Outbak sits on its own private decked area and the hot tub is screened for privacy. On sunny days take a little time out for an afternoon snooze in the reclining loungers. There’s also a bistro table and chairs, perfect for morning coffees or evening sundowners. This beautiful setting is just under 3 miles from Winchcombe and the Cotswold Way footpath is less than 0.5 miles away.
Hayles Abbey Halt on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway is literally on your doorstep, watch the steam trains chuffing between Cheltenham and Broadway, or check the timetable and see if you can flag a train down and hop on. Hayles Abbey Halt is a request stop so you just stand on the platform and raise your hand (we can’t guarantee however that they will always stop)!

Really lovely place, the owner was very helpful we shall be booking here again in future. Nice pubs not far away by car. The Shepherds Hut was so cosy & log spa pool was excellent.

Thank you so much to the owner for our wonderful stay. The pictures didn’t do the lovely space justice. It’s a gorgeous view with a beautiful shepherds hut. It was super private but also had a nice amount to do in the surrounding areas. We definitely plan to come back in future and stay again. Everything was beautifully presented, clean and also explained to us. 5*

Everything was clearly explained by the owner upon arrival. The cabin was so cosy and exceeded all of our expectations. Beautiful scenery and a great base for hiking routes. Extra touches like bathing robes and an OS map were very thoughtful. Very private and walking distance from Hayles Fruit Farm. We enjoyed visited the farm shop and kitchen for brunch and local apple juice.

Fantastic, Peaceful Trip Away

We had the most wonderful stay at this charming shepherds hut in the Cotswolds. The hut itself was spotless, cosy, and beautifully thought out, with everything we needed for a relaxing break. The hot tub was such a treat perfect for unwinding in the evenings and the BBQ made for some lovely dinners outside.
The location is fantastic, tucked away enough to feel peaceful and private, yet only a short drive to lots of picturesque Cotswold villages. It was the ideal base for exploring.
Our host was absolutely brilliant so helpful, polite, and genuinely welcoming. Communication was excellent from start to finish, which made everything completely stress-free.
All in all, a perfect countryside escape we honestly couldnt recommend it more highly and cant wait to come back!

We had a fantastic stay at the Shepherds Hut! A great host from the start – even recommending somewhere to visit before we checked in. The wood burner for the hot tub was already lit when we arrived, so it was ready to enjoy straight away – such a thoughtful touch! The owner gave us a warm welcome, showed us around the beautiful hut, and explained everything clearly. The views are stunning and it’s so peaceful. The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway passes by during the day – Hailes Abbey station (which you can see from the hut) is open to walk on year-round, but trains only stop there for boarding and exiting during March, April, and October. Toddington station, which operates more regularly, is just a short walk away. The Pheasant Inn is the nearest pub and serves delicious food – they do take walk-ins, but booking is best. I highly recommend this unique and relaxing getaway! Thanks for being such a friendly and thoughtful host! We really loved our stay!

A dreamy solo break for peace & quiet!

My stay at the Outbak shepherds hut was just a DREAM! I am a 26year old personal trainer/ fitness instructor and this was a break to take a breathe and have some calm time as life at home is very chaotic! This was just the perfect place to stay!
The weather was perfect! Beautiful and PLENTY of local walks and footpaths to venture off during the day! I was only 15 mins away from cheltenham to visit a gym I know well. The fruit farm was a walk away to visit and was a perfect coffee break and to pick some fresh fruit for my breakfasts and a visit to the farm shop to buy some lovely gifts for those back at home! I visited Bourton on Water which was just a 20 min drive away and what a beautiful place to go! I would have loved to have stayed longer to visit more of the recommended places in the extremely informative booklet in the cabin!
The stay at the cabin was perfect! It had everything I needed. The hottub was set up easily each day to be able to use with clear instructions! It was lovely to have a table and chairs outside as well as the sunbeds too! Inside the cabin the bed was so cosy, plenty of pillows, lovely chairs to sit and chill on as well as the dining table to eat from! Having wifi and a smart tv was perfect to still be able to have contact online and chill out with my favourite programmes!
The kitchen area was perfect to fit for my dietry needs; I did not eat out or local as I just wanted to be in my own comfort in the evenings but there were lots of choices to eat out even though I chose not to and the cooker was perfect and then having the toaster and microwave too! Dish washing facilities were great with plenty of utensils! It would have been handy to have a pair of cooking tongs and scissors though! The bathroom was perfect and clean and lovely pressure with the water. Lovely towels and gowns provided for the shower and hottub too!
I am very refreshed since getting back and I am without a doubt going to come back for another visit!

Perfect!

What a gem of a property. We had the most wonderful weekend. The hut is so beautiful and well done, the location is lovely and the hot tub was just brilliant. David was such a good host, there to greet us and set the hot tub up each day. We will definitely be returning.

Luxurious Stay

A lovely stay in a beautiful location. David was so welcoming and friendly. He has done an absolutely fabulous job of the Shepherds Hut and the hot tub was just divine. Would love to return in the summer because I can imagine the exclusive decking being a right little sun trap. The bed was so comfy and the duvet was cosy and kept us warm. Stayed in many Shepherds Huts before and this is by far one of the most luxurious ones.

Fantastic 4 night break

This is the second year we have stayed here and yet again had a fabulous stay. The shepherds hut is in a beautiful location with the steam train virtually at the bottom of the garden. It is beautifully maintained and the hot tub is to die for. Beautiful and quiet location convenient for many of the local attractions. David, the owner, was extremely helpful but very respectful of our privacy. His local knowledge was invaluable. 10/10 will definitely stay again.

Bets escape you could imagine!

This little shepherds hut is a perfect escape to the Cotswolds. It was clear, well kept, with everything you could need. The hot tub and the view is excellent and made it a delight to come back to every night. The village is quaint and peaceful, with excellent historic churches to visit. The host went above and beyond to accommodate us and make sure we enjoyed our stay to the fullest.
Thank you for having us, we recommend this location very highly and hope to be back!

An amazing Cotswolds getaway!

We loved everything about our stay and cant recommend it enough! The cabin was perfect - cosy, beautiful and well-equipped. The hot tub was an excellent addition and well worth braving the cold for. The location was also great, very peaceful surroundings and easy to get to many of the well known Cotswolds villages. The experience was made all the better by David who was the perfect host! Kind, welcoming and helpful throughout the duration of our stay. We will definitely be back!

A perfect place to enjoy the silence

The best accommodation we ever had. Lovingly and tastefully furnished. With a beautiful landscape around, a BBQ, the marvelous hot tub and steam locomotives passing by, the hut is the perfect place for taking a break from daily life. And not to forget the owner, always charming and happy to help.

A little place of calm

David the host was there to great us, familiarised us with how to use the hot tub and told us about the local area.
The shephards hut was clean and incredibly comfortable, the king-size bed was a perk, and the TV perfectly placed for resting after a long day. The hot tub was glorious, a 4 seater so incredibly spacious. The hut had everything you needed, including bathrobes and towels for both showering and the hot tub.
The local area was lovely, with some gentle walks surrounding. It was very peaceful and could see a full sky of stats at night. Seeing the occasional steam train go past was cool too!
Would definitely come again!

The location of the property was very good and easy to find. The layout was compact and bijou and had everything needed for the weekend. The hot tub was a great way to relax after a day walking and the bbq worked a treat. It was within easy walking distance of Hayles Farm Shop and cafe which is well worth a visit.
Overall a great place to stay and would highly recommend it. Thanks
