Fantastic house

The house is really beautiful, the grounds also are lovely, lots of space. It is pretty far from the village, a solid 15 minute walk. And the village is tiny. But if you are looking for somewhere off the beaten track then this is it.

Sunny days , chilly morning walks with the pheasants and sheep. Beautifully decorated house, I need the name of their interior designer. Peaceful setting. Oxford day trips- punting, walking tour and botanical gardens. Much fun. Returning to our cottage for a cup of tea on the patio was a real pleasure.

Beautiful place! Surrounded by fields. The house itself is modern with an appearance of an old house. Spacious rooms, well-equipped kitchen. We received help from the owners when we arrived late. Amazing experience. We loved everything.

A beautiful and peaceful retreat only 10 minutes from Oxford. House is beautifully finished, very comfortable and surrounded by lovely landscape. We watched sheep, hares, rabbits and even a deer coming into the garden. Perfect place for family gatherings.

We have stayed at many rental properties all over the US and abroad and this was one of the loveliest places we’ve ever stayed. The house is wonderful: located down a private driveway and surrounded by moors and fields of sheep. There’s plenty of space for parking and some wonderful outdoor space for dining or just enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. The house is beautifully decorated and beautifully appointed, and it could not have been more comfortable. Every amenity you could think of was available. We cooked many meals in the kitchen and had everything we needed to do so. Our host was flexible, responsive, friendly, and accommodating. The house is full of light and the beds are super comfortable, with thick duvets and soft pillows. Even though we stayed for 10 days, we would have loved to have stayed much longer! Do not miss the opportunity to rent this fabulous property. You will not be disappointed!

Otmoor House is a must stay!

We had an absolutely lovely stay at this property! The grounds are beautiful and peaceful near the Otmoor Reserve in late May--think wildflowers, bird watching, green wetlands, cattle, deer, muntjac, pheasant, and hares. Pastoral countryside at its best. The farmhouse was just as lovely. Every room was so well appointed and comfortable, and suited our family of 5 perfectly.
John and Jo are inviting and communicative hosts, even providing us with some special treats to eat and drink upon arrival. My husband is still talking about how much he enjoyed staying here. We would go back in a heartbeat. Highly, highly recommended!!

The highest standards

Otmoor house has been recently refurbished , decorated and furnished to the highest standards of any of the self catered accommodation we have ever stayed at in the UK. The setting and nearby village (including pub) are also beautiful. The beds are very large and extremely comfortable. What more can I say? I can find no fault !

Lovely house in quiet location

This lovely house is tucked away in a peaceful location surrounded by farmland. The rooms are large and comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped. We enjoyed our (all too brief) stay immensely.

This was probably the most perfect place we have stayed. The location was idyllic and peaceful and close enough to explore Oxford.

A weekend away

Such a wonderful weekend away at Otmoor house. The location was perfect, remote and quiet with lovely walks from the doorstep. The house was beautiful inside with everything you needed, and very comfortable for all of us staying there! The Talkhouse in Stanton St.John did a very good Sunday lunch, and would definitely recommend!

Lovely Weekend Stay

We had a great weekend stay at Otmoor House. It's such a beautifully designed property and very cosy. We all went away wishing we could own it, so that's a big thumbs up to John and Jo for how well they have made it! Thank you.

A Dreamy Country Christmas

We couldn't have asked for a more ideal cottage in which to spend Christmas with our families. We were 3 couples in the house and the set-up was perfect. The kitchen was a great social area when meals were being prepared and cleaned-up and the living room was a wonderfully cozy nook in which to crowd around the fire with books and crosswords. Everything we needed was there. The location was well suited for getting away from the craziness of life. A little bit of a drive to get more firewood or butter, but just a short walk from the lovely Abingdon Arms pub. The remoteness of the cottage and its location at the edge of the RSPB sanctuary meant plenty of options for muddy walks, bird-spotting, and stargazing. It was a cozy hideaway for a lovely festive season and am sure it is even more delightful in the mostly sunny Summer months. A very helpful book of local tips and recommendations was provided on site (as well as on the booking page ahead of time). Our hosts were incredibly welcoming and quick to reply to any questions that came up.

Otmoor House was such a wonderful place to stay!
A really lovely location, the house was so well equipped and finished to such a high standard. Every last detail was thought of and we couldn't fault the property. John & Jo were quick to respond and made sure we had all the info up front. Now we just need to find an excuse to visit again!!

If you are looking for a retreat that is peaceful, well equipped and a touch of country elegance then this is the place for you. Cant wait to return!

We absolutely fell in love with Otmoor house, and found it very hard to leave. Not only does it provide you with the tranquility of the area and beautiful views, but a lot of effort has been spent on the interior decor with so much attention paid to every detail. It was a real treat living in the cottage, and cannot recommend it enough! Our hosts were absolutely lovely and incredibly helpful. There is a lovely walking route starting at the door, around the fields and RSPB reserve where you could do bird watching at the bird hideout over the moor, taking you back up through a forest to the local village where weve enjoyed lunch at the local pub which has a spectacular outdoor space with views over the hills. There is a local farm shop where you could PYO fruits, veg and flowers and other lovely local produce. We cant wait to return soon, a true gem!

An idyllic retreat in stunning countryside, but also only 20 mins for Oxford

We had a fantastic holiday at Otmoor House, the house was spotless, beds were hotel standard and you could get lost in the exceptional view.
The views of the filling countryside and wetlands made for a stunning backdrop best placed in a national geographic photo shoot!!
The local farm shop, pick your own and even the historic city of Oxford were all close by, so we were never short of things to do.
The owners/hosts were so welcoming and accommodating it felt like we were family!! The only downside we had was not staying longer, so would recommend to anyone looking for an idyllic escape from their busy world and looking to unplug for a week or two (dont worry there was very good WiFi!!)

We now declare Otmoor House open!

It really is as good as it looks in the photos. Superb, quality furnishings throughout. Wonderfully quiet. Amazing, isolated location with fantastic views. What you can't see on the photos are the lovely hosts, John and Jo, who looked after us so well. Apparently, we were the first occupants and we were very privileged to be so. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
