Overview
One of the most popular Cotswold locations, Stow-on-the-Wold is a beautiful historic market town which embraces country life. At its heart amongst the honey-coloured buildings lies Little Elms. Overlooking the village green and the market square, the hubbub of Cotswold life is on your doorstep.
Dating back to the 1700s, this timeless townhouse is light and airy with nods to its past shown in the exposed beams. With a smattering of modern art and crisp décor Little Elms is a stylish retreat. Encompassing three floors there is ample space for four with the master bedroom on the top floor being a special treat. Here there is an emperor bed resting beneath the eaves so you have more than enough room to spread out and have an amazing night’s sleep. The master bedroom en-suite has jack and jill access allowing those staying in bedroom two access. The bunk room suits children or adults and there is a cosy sitting room which overlooks the market square through the elm trees. On the ground floor is a country classic kitchen with a dining area where you can stay in for dinner if you don’t fancy visiting one of the many pubs and restaurants in town.
Although Little Elms does not have its own outdoor space, you don’t notice as in the morning you can pop out to one of the cafes for a pastry and coffee to go and sit at the village green, watching the world go by. You’ll find everything you need in Stow-in-the-Wold and close by you can visit Sezincote House and Garden, Bourton-on-the-Water, Daylesford and Chipping Norton.

An original window seat is a lovely place to perch and watch the world go by as your chef gets to work. The property was a great stop during a family vacation in the Cotswolds. We thoroughly enjoyed Stow-on-the-Wold, and the surrounding area. Would absolutely stay again!
Eric
Wonderful location right in the middle of Stow on the Wold! Would highly recommend!

Very serious Damp Issues at the property. We got ill, stay away.

- Damp levels on another level. Toilet rolls buckle, dry towels become damp, jumbo wood lice roam the floors, mold on bathroom ceiling and blinds. No wonder the property is for sale. The moisture coming up from the basement room is insane and the constantly running dehumidifiers which you have to empty multiple times per day produce buckets of water.
- One front door key and no inside dead bolts so if one person goes out any others are literally locked in and are unable open the door to get out. Seriously fire and safety issue.
- Pre cleaning was terrible, hairs blocking bathroom sinks, childs greasy hand print smear on kitchen glass stairwell, visible dirt on the edges of all the floors. I fixed the provided vacuum cleaner after finding it was fully blocked with gravel.
- 2 week stay and no offer of fresh towels, linens or a mid stay clean. Just crickets for the whole 2 week stay.
- Welcome folder says moisture is normal for Stow. Not True. I have stayed at 5 other properties in Stowe and all were bone dry with no need for dehumidifiers. My retired Laing Civil Engineer friend said some serious work needs doing in the basement to deal with all the moisture entering the building and it wont be cheap. Perhaps why it is for sale?
- On arrival. 1/4 toilet rolls, 1/8 kitchen, roll, 1 spare trash bag etc etc. Had to go out straight away to the shops upon arrival to buy extras for pretty much immediate use.
- The location is nice but the tourists which arrive by the coach load throughout the day are too in your face, staring into property kitchen window. Stay one street back or off the square.
- Overall score 1/10 which is the worst score I have ever given by a mile.

Beautifully restored and equipped house with fantastic location.

This was our first time in the Cotswolds and we couldn’t have picked a better place. The location was perfect, easy access to everything and right on the main square. The house was so well designed and had so much space. We loved every room. We’d stay there again in a heartbeat.
Claire
Couldn’t beat the location. The home was spotless and was very comfortable for our family of 4.

Cute clean property. Great location.

Lovely property right in the centre of the village.

Lovely way to enjoy the Cotswolds

Two of us stayed here in January. It is a well equipped and well appointed location. Everywhere was very clean and tidy. Everything worked well. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom and shower were fine. The outside temperature was pretty cold so it took a while to heat the place when we first arrived but when we got it right it was comfortable. The location is perfect - right on the market square and the facilities in Stow are excellent - good places to eat and drink and some lovely shopping.

Ideal location in the heart of Stow. The cottage has all that you could need. The rooms, particularly the main bedroom and sitting room, are very generously sized. Great property.

A historic house with modern comforts

Our original booking was cancelled on the day we travelled due to electrical problems! Not the best start but Bolt Hole swiftly came up with an alternative which turned out to be perfect. Best position in Stowe. Close to everything we needed.
The house is wonderfully old and quirky but with a modern feel. Theres everything youd need in the kitchen including two fridges.
Main bedroom has an enormous bed which was soooo comfortable. Dont hesitate just book it!

Two night stay at Little Elms at Stow

The house was ideally located in a quiet spot on Market Square with free parking outside and a short walk to all of the local amenities. The house was clean and comfortable and equipped with everything needed. We had a nice stay with no issues.

Great stay at Little Elms

We really enjoyed our stay at the Little Elms.
It's such a beautiful and comfortable apartment
Catherine would have liked some blinds on the kitchen windows for privacy but otherwise everything was first class

Perfect location and charm

Great location and charming home. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything that you would need. The main bathroom is nicely refurbished. Now for the issues, The living room chair is torn, dirty and the sofa is worn. The main bathroom sink was clogged so water filled the basin. Sammi reponded right away but it took two visits to correct the issue in the only sink on the two floors. The 1st of sheets fit the bed, the 2nd set appeared to be for a smaller bed so a couple times of night you would have to adjust the bed linens. Larger dehumidifiers would help so you arent emptying the reservoirs every 4-5 hours. I would also recommend redoing the information binder for the property, pages are torn out and it was in order so we put it back in order.
Even though it is in a perfect location the condition of the home in my opinion is overpriced.

Brilliant location! Great main bedroom and kitchen! Second bunk bedroom ideal for kids.

Lovely location right on main Market Square and loads on your doorstep. The large kitchen is all new, well equiped and works really well. Lovely big dining table for leisurely breakfasts. There are no blinds or curtains so we felt a bit on show in the evenings in there. The main bedroom (very large bed!) is on the top floor next to the shower room, both lovely. The living room has a huge brown leather sofa and mega size TV which lacks some charm but overall the decor is good and very clean. There is no toilet on the ground floor but one in far end of basement, down some tricky stone steps - this house is not for elderly people who struggle with stairs. Bunk bed room, very cute and cosy, good for kids but too small for adults. Nice for a short break in the depths of Stow.

A nice property

Very nice property in a great location with all facilities as described, no where really to dry bath towels and needs a tray as lounge is not on same floor as kitchen, but small complaints considering it is a lovely property.

Wonderful home in the heart of the town

We arrived to the property on a warm sunny day and found the property to be lovely and cool inside. Though it was busy outside it was quiet inside. The facilities throughout the property were excellent. Very comfy huge bed in the master bedroom.
We were able to sit on the grass outside the property and enjoy the late afternoon sunshine. We managed to park on the little lay-by outside the house which was a bonus as meant we werent moving cars around.
The only missing for me personally was a bathtub! After a long walk a soak in the bath would have made this the ultimate relaxation stay! Excellent location for drinks, food, walks and a handful of shops. Will definitely return.

Beautiful cottage

Beautiful cottage right in the centre of Stow on the wold. Beautifully decorated and lovely and clean. We didn't manage to park outside the cottage as someone was there already. However this didn't matter, as literally 5 mins away a 72hour free car park. The people in the area were really friendly. The shops and restaurants were lovely. Had an after tea and went for a lovely countryside walk. Totally switched off during our family stay. Will definately be coming back soon. Thank you x

Are stay at little elms

Lovely cottage, great location and very spacious
It would benefit from having the blinds put back up in the kitchen and on the front door, did feel it lacked privacy especially during the evening .
Couldnt find some of the manuals on how to use heating, cooker etc .

Was just OK, not spectacular.

Location is superb, cannot be beat! But the house is clearly a rental property. It was clean.....enough, but this house needs someone to oversee it. Kitchen sink has the usual issues as in the sink drain was just dirty and every time we ran water into it, it smelled of decayed food wafting up into our faces. Seems the drain needs a deep cleaning. Master bedroom windows open to let air into the house but the windows have rot and mildew on the frames and they don't quite close properly as the window hardware is loose. Clearly there is a moisture issue in this house as there were dehumidifiers in the master bedroom, kitchen and also the basement. The basement.....is the original basement from when the house was built in the 1700's or 1800's. It has a bathroom there also, but the entire space is so damp the toilet tissue was actually soaking wet (not kidding!) and totally unusable. Dehumidifier in the basement but not plugged in, probably because it would need to be emptied every day by someone unless it was direct drained into the sink in the bathroom, or somewhere. There seems to be no real plan to deal with the moisture in this house on a serious, ongoing level. So, it was a great location, and OK to stay in if you stayed in the kitchen area. And there is only one bathroom that was usable given the dampness in the basement bathroom, so using the bathroom that was in good order required trips up to the 3rd floor of the house every time. There is no bathroom on the main level of the house at all. House has an alarm system but no code information or operational information was given to us to use it during the stay.

Fantastic stay for 2 adults and young children

Lovely base for exploring with a well equipped kitchen. Our 2 young children fit comfortably in the bunk beds. We had an issue with the water temperature but good communication and we were happy with the outcome.
Would definitely recommend Stow on the Wold and this property. Looking forward to visiting again.

Perfect location

We had a lovely stay at the Little Elms. It was perfectly located right in the market square. The home was fully equipped with any kitchen items you might need. Our only issue with the place was with the shower. We were unable to change the temperature of the water so it was extremely hot the entire time. Other than that, it was perfect for our family of 3. Would certainly recommend to friends and family.

Character house in a fantastic location

We spent a week staying in Little Elms and it was fantastic. The location is sensational, right on the square in the heart of the village and the house has everything you need. Parking was never an issue for us as we were almost always able to get an unlimited parking space right out the front (at least overnight) and there was usually plenty of space in the square. Failing that, it was only a very short walk from the Tesco supermarket long-term parking. Stow on the Wold is a great, central location for exploring most of the Cotwolds and it suited us perfectly. We did a walking tour of the village on Sunday offer by the local civil society which was well worth doing. Overall, a fantastic place in an absolutely wonderful village.

Wonderful Stay

We rented Little Elms for 7 nights and used Stow as our base for exploring The Cotswolds. Little Elms was perfectit had all of the amenities we needed and its location on Market Square puts you right in the middle of the shops and pubs. We would highly recommend a stay here!

Superb location in Stow

Beautiful townhouse within the Market Square and close to all the amenities that Stow has to offer. Very spacious kitchen, lounge and master bedroom and great addition to have a basement. High spec facilities made our stay in Stow a memorable one!

Home from Home

We had a lovely week away in Little Elms.
The bed is huge and very comfortable, the shower is hot and powerful. I was worried that the bunk beds might be a little small for my tall children (9&11) but they were very comfortable in the their beds.
The cottage is a well placed base for day trips around the Cotswolds. We visited The Wildlife Park, Sudelly Castle, Blenheim Palace and even had a day out in Oxford.
The restaurants nearby are all of an excellent standard, but you do have to book in advance particularly during peak season. There is a small co-op two minutes away and a large Tesco 10 mins walk away.
We managed to park outside the property every evening sometimes we had to park in the Tesco car park but were always able to move the car by the early evening as the visitors left Stow.
There was a bit of a damp smell in the property, probably not helped by the damp weather we had but there is a humidifier to help counteract that.
All in all we were very comfortable here for the week and had an incredibly relaxing getaway.
