Overview
A very short walk from the village pub in Naunton you arrive at Hope Cottage, a rural bolthole for two which fills you with comfort. After enjoying the surrounding Cotswold countryside, it is a delight to return to this homely Cotswold stone cottage for your getaway.
Stepping through the front stable door into the kitchen you can take off your boots at the wooden bench before popping the kettle on for a cup of tea out in the sunny and secluded garden. The kitchen has a wooden dining table where you can enjoy romantic home cooked meals together when you’re not wining and dining at one of the local inns. In the cosy living room curl up on the plump sofa under the wooden beams and relax to the crackling fire in the wood burner. The shuttered windows look out over the quiet lane, used more by walkers than cars.
Upstairs is the king-size bedroom where you can hide away in the mornings enjoying the tranquillity of your retreat. Perhaps your partner will even cook up a breakfast feast to fuel you for the day of exploring that’s ahead. The spacious bathroom has a shower over the bath giving you the option for a slow soak or an invigorating start.
The patio garden is fully enclosed making a private sun trap and there is a bench and table and chairs for you to spend time out here. From Hope Cottage you can join the Windrush Way or Wardens Way which passes the front door and takes you to Upper and Lower Slaughter and Bourton-on-the-Water.

Our stay at Hope Cottage was absolutely perfect! The location was great with only an 8 minute drive to Bourton on the Water. Naunton itself is a very beautiful town and so peaceful I highly recommend. The cottage itself was so clean and really cosy, I couldn’t recommend Hope Cottage more!! We will be back.

Summer week in the Cotswolds

We have stayed in Naunton numerous times and this is a cottages to which we would happily return. Mary, next door, was welcoming and friendly, regularly checking we were okay. The cottage has everything you would need and is perfect for a couple. We highly recommend the Black Horse which is really close. Welcoming, good food with very large portions. The courtyard outside the cottage is lovely and catches the sun making it a lovely place to have a morning coffee or a bbq at night. We would definitely recommend it.

The perfect couples country retreat!

We had such a lovely stay at Hope Cottage the perfect little escape right in the heart of the peaceful village of Naunton. The cottage had everything we needed, from a well-stocked kitchen with plenty of utensils and store cupboard basics, to a cosy patio where we could sit out and enjoy the sunshine. The location was brilliant for long countryside walks, and were already thinking about coming back in winter to make the most of the log burner! We also popped into the Black Horse pub nearby for a drink friendly atmosphere and a great-looking menu with clearly marked gluten-free options, which was really reassuring for us. Overall, Hope Cottage was the perfect country retreat and exactly what we needed to relax and reset.

Great location

The cottage is very comfortable and in a really good location for exploring the Cotswolds. Very quiet and pretty village, with a beautiful church and historic dovecote down by the river. My only complaint would be about the kitchen layout - the sink is directly below a wall cupboard, therefore quite difficult to actually do the washing up! But this is a minor issue. I really enjoyed my stay!

Hope Cottage

Hope Cottage is a beautiful property in the village of Naunton. It is close to the local
Pub and the Wardens Way footpaths. There is a lovely private outdoor space to the rear and parking to the front. I would recommend staying here. The only things that could be improved would be a more comfy bed and sofa and a few touch ups to the decor. The stair bannister also needs attention. Overall, a lovely stay.

Beautiful village

Beautiful village, nice accommodation for 2 people, but cottage a little tired in places but a perfect location for exploring the Cotswolds. Our 2nd Bolthole Retreat in what is becoming our annual February trip to the area. Personal opinion, sofa very low down which we both found uncomfortable, TV small to view with limited channels.

A wonderful Cotswold cottage

Its perfectly situated with Bourton on the Water, Broadway and Stow in the Wold all nearby. The cottage is tastefully decorated with a wonderful log burner, fully equipped kitchen and comfy bed. Lovely pub just 1 minute away.

Nice cottage, lovely location. Heater in living room didnt seem to work but the wood burner gave plenty of warmth (but no kindling glad I brought my own!). No batteries in radio was a shame, couldnt find any spares.

A perfect Bolthole retreat

A beautiful cottage and a perfect location to explore the Cotswolds. Comfortable cozy romantic and would completely recommend if you are looking for a romantic break or to explore the surrounding area. The village has a lovely pub which on our stay was vibrant and nicely busy.
The village is peaceful and very quiet, in fact we had more horses pass the cottage than cars.
We definitely will book again

Hope Cottage review

Great location in a beautiful Cotswolds village with a friendly local pub in strolling distance. Cottage is charming and comfortable but could just do with a bit of tlc when it comes to furnishings and decor, for example the curtains in the bedroom and handles missing on a few cupboard doors. The oven/grill also needed a clean. We appreciated the log fire and bathroom was nice and spacious.

Our stay at Hope cottage

Hope cottage is a beautiful home in a beautiful area. The kitchen was fully stocked ready to use. However, for someone who suffers from dust and animal hair allergies, this was where it went wrong. There were many spider webs with spiders and dust particles on the floor and by the window. On the sofa when I went to use the pillows and blanket, it contained a lot of animal hair which gave me really bad allergies preventing me from breathing properly and clogging my throat.
The check out time is 10am and check in time is 4pm which leaves 6hrs to clean and leave the place in a dust free and animal hair free however this was not the case. I also asked to check in earlier and I was denied this due to the busy holiday season. I would have expected it to be alot cleaner but it wasnt. So if you have dust and animal hair allergies like me, be careful to book it as youll be like me with a tight throat, blocked nose and constant runny nose even with allergy tablets!!

Beautiful cotttage in an excellent location

Cottage was comfortable and well-equipped. Great local pub and lots of good walks from your doorstep. Cleanliness and condition of cottage was outstanding. Would stay again.

Excellent cottage, more spacious than photos suggest

We loved it here - the little village is extremely picturesque. The cottage is on the road but there is no through traffic and the village is tiny so it's not a problem. The cottage is more much roomy than the photos suggest, especially the bedroom - we were quite surprised! Would definitely stay again.

Cozy cottage in rural town

Such a beautiful cottage in a tiny and picturesque Cotswold town. Its very well equipped and comfortable, although some further amenities such as body wash/soap, shampoo and conditioner would make it a better experience. Close to bourton and stow but peaceful with horses as the only traffic passing by.

Hope cottage.

Lovely location in quiet pretty village ,pub very friendly.
There was no heating on when we arrived and the cottage was cold. There were no extra blankets, the blanket on the bed wasnt big enough to cover both of us and it was thin, for the bed and we spent a cold 1st night.
Some lamps would make the cottage lounge more cosy as the bare bulbs were harsh an too bright consequently someone before us had unscrewed some of the bulbs.
There is a prominent sign in the lounge with a fictitious wi fi password on it ! My husband was able to figure out how to connect from the hub but without him I would have had no idea.

Short summer stay

Pub nearby was nice, but closed much earlier than advertised. Great for walking and for peace and quiet. Village could have done with a small village store.

A lovely little get away

We stayed here for 2 nights. Its a lovely quiet little location and the cottage is fitted out to a high specification. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. My only concern was the cleanliness - the trays in the oven hadnt been cleaned and some of the kitchen plates etc had to be washed again before we used them. The sofa in the living room was a little smelly so could probably do with a steam clean but on the whole we had a really pleasant stay here and would recommend it.
