Overview
Honeysuckle Cottage rings with the memories of its time as a silk mill workers cottage. Original features make this a characterful getaway with far-reaching views of the Cotswolds. Stepping out onto the terrace you will spot birds of prey in the vast skies and deer in the fields beyond.
Stone mullioned windows, Cotswold stone fireplaces and exposed walls bring the tradition of this region to the forefront. Spending time here you feel relaxed, watching the changing scenery from a window seat and dining beside garden views. Built over three floors the light filled living room with a woodburning stove is on the ground floor. Spot the stained-glass windows which add a unique touch to the bathroom, also on this floor. The lower ground floor has a dining area with the original flagstone floor and the well-equipped kitchen is tucked to one side. Both bedrooms are on the upper floor and you’ll see wooden beams and beautiful countryside views.
The terraced garden is beautifully planted with mature shrubs and roses creating a wonderful display of greenery. At the end of the garden is a dining area with a table seating four where you can watch the passing herd in the deer park beyond.

Perfect Cotswolds cottage

The cottage was even better than the photos
the view from the back bedroom is stunning .
The house was warm and cozy and welcoming and the one query we had was dealt with very quickly .
I highly recommend this cottage
parking was easy and a short walk into the local village which has a very lovely cafe.

Weekend stay in the Cotswolds

This lovely little terraced cottage in the Cotswold made a perfect base for our weekend break. The house had (almost) everything you could want, was very clean, well maintained and cosy. Only improvement would be to have a radio/smart speaker/some way of playing music, and to offer a slightly better welcome pack (the Bolthole Retreats website asked me for any allergies for my breakfast basket, but there was no basket), e.g. a bottle of wine, some flowers, some toiletries.

Beautiful little village! The Blockley Café dinner was amazing, lots of walks right from the village too.

Lovely Cottage in a Lovely Cotswold Village

Our long weekend stay at Honeysuckle Cottage in Blockley was woderful. The cottage itself is well presented and equiped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It is close to the centre of Blockley with its amazing church, pubs...and the amazing food at the Cafe which is thoroughly recommended.
We also chose the location for its proximity to great walks across the surrounding area, and we did walks to Batsford Arboreteum as well as a walk to Chipping Campden too...
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay

Weekend in Blockley

Lovely location and ideal for walks and sightseeing in the Cotswolds. The property interior and garden could be elevated from good to excellent with a few low cost improvements. The fake flowers that seemed to be everywhere (2 vases in the front bedroom, in the lounge, on top of the bookcase 2 bunches in the dining room) did nothing to add to the decor and felt cluttered and grubby. Similarly the fur throws on the back of the sofas didn't feel clean. The undersink cupboard was grubby and the bin was missing its lid. The garden really needed a tidy up and the bushes cutting back to access the table at the bottom of the garden. It was such a pity that the lovely view from the end of the garden was obscured as soon as you sat down. What a missed opportunity to see all the deer running past! All that said we had a great weekend with family and these were just our honest observations which can be ignored. Would recommend with the above improvements.

Nice character cottage for exploring the Cotswolds

The cottage is well situated - a short walk from the village centre and on a rise which means, from the back, you get wonderful views of the countryside. It light and nicely furnished. It is well kitted out, including with kitchen miscellaneous items eg dishcloth, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc; generally comfortable; had plenty of hot water at all times and adjustable central heating controls. I would suggest some small improvements to maximise comfort/utility such as a mattress topper on the main bed, kitchen towels, a non-slip bath mat and a handle to hold onto to exit the high bath sides after a shower. As a non-pet owner, I didn't like the very likely possibility that dogs (despite cottage requests to the contrary) had been sitting on the rugs which covered the settees. The cottage is well placed for exploring the Cotswolds.

We had a really lovely stay at Honeysuckle Cottage - it was everything we needed & more. Such a pretty cottage with a lovely garden in a beautiful part of the world.

This home was perfect for a quiet weekend exploring the Cotswolds. We spent our days walking, morning coffee on the patio and enjoying the local pubs for dinner.

a really enjoyable 4 night stay

really enjoyed our stay here. yes the it's small with narrow stairs but our 3 adults and 1 dog had no problems at all. cottage is full of character and well furnished and equipped. the decked garden was an enchanting place to eat out but some of the plants are overgrown and need trimming back from the walkways and views. We were blessed with great weather and Blockley is a beautiful Cotswold village . We enjoyed a quiz night at the Great Western pub. Great base for all of the Cotswolds. Would recommend Stow, Broadway, Chipping Campden, Cirencester, Adam Henson farm, Cotswold Wildlife Park, Bourton-on-Water and Burford.

Perfect base for our visit

My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights. We were so pleased with everything. The cottage is really cosy and the kitchen is very well equipped.
All of the places we wanted to visit were easily reached. Blockley is a very pretty village off the beaten track.

In need of repair and redecoration

Great location. However the property is a little tired and needs updating. Grouting in the bathroom and kitchen needs redoing. One of the fittings to the toilet cistern needs fixing. Carpets need cleaning or replacing. The decor is a little confused with ultra modern radiators and then vintage bathroom fittings and furniture. The kitchen units are getting very old and don't open very well.
The property does not live up to the pictures on the website and is expensive for the poor quality accommodation .

Cosy Cotswold Cottage

Very beautifully appointed cottage in a lovely village with wonderful shop, pub and cafe. Scenic views and walks. Close to lots of interesting villages and sites.
The hot water for the bath could be hotter. Such a lovely bathroom but tepid baths. Kitchen super well equipped and the cottage is just so comfortable, cosy and quiet. Shocked to find no mattress cover when I stripped the bed on leaving. Cleaning staff came the day before but my key in the lock meant they knew I was still there. They left the key safe open and with the number unchanged so I think everyone who passed must know it. Maybe time to change it?
Thank you to the owners for sharing their lovely cottage and I hope to come again. Everyone in Blockley so friendly!

Most Enjoyable Stay

Honeysuckle Cottage in Blockley could not have met our hopes and expectations more.
The village and the proximity of Honeysuckle Cottage to the heart of the town, Blockley Cafe and store, was perfect.
We loved being away from all the tourist madness. The locals were so kind and friendly.
The breathtaking views from the back of the house overlooking the sheep pasture hills, the resting deer below the house and the golden cottages in a distance were so beautiful and captured the essence of the Cotswolds. A visiting black cat greeted me on the patio overlooking all this. The garden was delightful.
A current list of taxis or hired cars would be helpful. The Coop employees provided one and assisted us. A real simplifed map of the town would be nice, too.
The owners and staff were very responsive to our needs making the stay perfect.
My only regret is that we could not stay longer.

Cotswold Stay

Our stay at Honeysuckle Cottage was for two nights.
The location of the Honeysuckle Cottage is perfect and the accommodation is cosy and well presented.
The kitchen and dining facilities were super and well equipped.
However, the front bedroom had been designated as a King Room, but was made up as two single beds! And unless otherwise requested, this should not have been the case and a king bed expected. The Cottage should be presented as marketed.
The carpets in the Cottage could be cleaner or even changed, the owners should certainly revisit this.
The rear bedroom has no clothes storage options, so be prepared to improvise.
Sadly, there was also insufficient toilet paper, and none could be found anywhere e.g. washing machine storage, kitchen, bathroom etc.
On the whole we enjoyed our stay at Honeysuckle but with some caveats.

Enjoyable w/e away

Good accommodation on 3 levels which was good for us but would not recommend for young children or the elderly as steep stairs and toilet not on same level as beds.
Beds made up incorrectly for us as we wanted 2 Kings and 1 bed made up as twins. In house info also says (as well as Bolthole retreats info) request for twins, so we thought we wouldn't need to request for Kings. Did not enjoy sleeping in a single bed.
In house info is out of date pertaining to Covid era. We couldn't find compost caddy and other colour coded bags for recycling, so took a lot home with us. Kitchen smells slightly damp/mouldy but well equipped. Scissors already broken in drawer on arrival.
Having said all that, overall the cottage was fine.
Cleaning charge of £80 is well over-priced for the size of the property particularly with no dogs.

Winter weekend at honeysuckle cottage

It was a wonderful stay at honeysuckle cottage. The only thing Id recommend is providing a few more cooking basics such as olive oil and some spices and maybe some small bottles of body wash/shampoo/conditioner. We came without these and had to go and buy some provisions. Other than that couldnt recommend more.

Not really suitable for pets

Lingering terrible musty smell in every room
No dog facilities, towels, outdoor hose, no access direct to rear of property so if you've been on a long, wet, muddy walk, you have to go through the lounge (with beige carpet) to get to downstairs kitchen and outdoor rear area .... not ideal
No private parking but parking on road was ok, rear is decked and overgrown
Very small overall with low level ceilings on stairs, very narrow stairs to upper floor.
Sofas and carpets could do with a good clean.
Toilet seat clashes with large bathroom cabinet.

Stunning and comfortable little cottage

We loved our time in Blockley. Plenty to do around the area. The early check out and late check in times were a shame - for the amount paid it does not seem right to lose half a day (especially when you are asked to do your own cleaning). But all in all a great experience with spot on recommendations, and lots of well thought out touches. Thank you.

Very Enjoyable Stay

Lovely cottage with fabulous views. The deer that visited the field at the bottom of the garden was an added bonus!
All in all a lovely cottage. The weather was very warm and sunny, sadly the absence of a garden parasol meant we werent able to enjoy sitting out in the garden as much as we would have liked. I think as with all other cottages we have stayed in a garden parasol is something that would be very much appreciated, particularly during the summer. Perhaps this is something which could be considered for future guests?

A cute farm worker's cottage in Blockeyl

Honeysuckle Cottage is a cute farm worker's cottage from the mid 1800's built over 3 levels. The upstairs bedrooms were comfortable & had lovely views of Blockley village. The lounge & the bathroom on street level we're also comfortable, although the heated towel rail was not functioning and the bath was quite high to get in and out of. The lower ground had a charming dining room overlooking the back garden with views over open fields. The kitchen was well appointed but being built into the back of the slope had no external windows and had a very unpleasant musty smell which was worse when the kitchen cupboards were opened. The downstairs area was not as clean as the rest of the cottage and looks in need of a good spring clean. The washing machine needed to be cleaned before use.
Louise OKeeffe
Lovely place, surrounded by some of the most stunning areas the North Cotswolds has to offer.

Everything you'd want from a Cotswolds stay

Honeysuckle Cottage is little treasure and highly recommended. Neat tidy, very comfortable, incredible views, we appreciated the attention to detail. Great location and brilliant for a weekend stay. Thanks so much.

Lovely cottage

Lovely cottage lots of character features but also warm and cosy for a winter's stay, especially with the woodburning stove (only had four sticks of kindling provided though so maybe worth taking your own as quite pricey from the local shop). Comfortable beds and two good sized double rooms. Kitchen well equipped (though some of the utensils/pans did need a clean) and a good selection of books/local info to browse. Great location on the edge of Blockley with lovely views out the back (and a nice terrace for summer) which has a decent sized shop and cafe as well as a couple of pubs around 5 mins walk away. Altogether would recommend.

Beautiful Cotswold cottage

We had a wonderful time at Honeysuckle Cottage. It was spotless, lovely and well equipped. Views are gorgeous - including stags in the field behind early in the morning. Location is great. All communication easy and helpful.
I think we all wished we could stay longer / move in!!

Brilliant stay in a wonderful Cotswold Cottage

We stayed at Honeysuckle cottage for four nights. The cottage was spotless when we arrived and we appreciated the milk and other essentials that were provided. The log burner fireplace was a lovely touch and was great to sit in front of after the trip to the local pub (do try to the Blockley café for both evening and breakfast, it is great!). We had enough wood for a couple of days, though if you run out the local supermarkets sells it. The views are fantastic with roaming dear on the back. The rooms are good size and the beds comfy. You also have a decent sized garden though we didn't use it given it was early Feb. In regards local walks, there are plenty, and you can easily drive to local villages. We didn't have an issue parking, on road, though it was quiet with generally plenty of spaces. We'd definitely stay here again one day in the future.
