Overview
Originally, The Granary was a yellow-brick barn used to house grain. Today, it is a beautifully renovated and restored home from home at the centre of the owners’ farm on the outskirts of Cheltenham, close to the village of Shurdington. The Granary is accessed along a country track, passing open land and neighbouring houses and farms instantly immersing you in this rural location. When you arrive you find yourself surrounded by farmland and open country with easy access to walks and beautiful scenery. The immaculately kept courtyard before The Granary has the owners’ property to one side and the parking area to the other.
The Granary has a fully equipped kitchen with a separate utility/cloakroom and a large dining/living room, featuring the original beams and fabulous wood burning stove. From here, step out into the garden surrounded by a wicker fence which is wonderfully private with a table and chairs and a BBQ to grill up delicious evening meals. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other with two 3ft single beds. The two bedrooms share a shower room with a large walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin.
The Granary is ideally located to explore the Cotswolds with easy access to wonderful places of interest, including Cheltenham Racecourse, historic Sudeley Castle in the village of Winchcombe, Cirencester and it's Roman heritage, and the towns and villages of Bourton-on-the-Water, Bibury, Stow-on-the-Wold and Burford. If you prefer to arrive by train and explore the area on foot or by bike, Cheltenham Spa and Gloucester train station are just 5 miles from the property.

Lovely cottage, very close to main roads, but also once at the property it is on a farm and very rural feel. Surrounded by fields and great place to walk the dog. Cottage itself had a really cosy feel. Wood burner in the lounge, which was lit on arrival and kept the room toastie. Two decent bedrooms, comfy beds and a well stocked kitchen. Had all the amenities, we cooked every night and found all we needed. Owner was a great host, always available and helped with anything we needed. Very enjoyable stay.

Our stay at The Granary, Hunts Court

We really enjoyed our stay at The Granary at Hunts Court. It was clean, comfortable and had everything that we could possibly need. The outdoor seating in the evening sunshine was an added bonus for enjoying a cup of tea after a busy day out. Stephen was most welcoming and helpful. The location was particularly peaceful, ensuring a good night's sleep. There was ample safe parking right outside the door. We hope to stay at The Granary again when we are in the area.

A lovely spacious home to stay in with all the amenities you would expect. Really nice place to stay out in the countryside with friendly hosts. Would visit again!

Great hosts, very friendly, we felt right at home. The accommodation is lovely, clean but also cosy and it was fun being on a working farm and meeting all the horses and sheep who were very friendly. The enclosed outdoor space was perfect for us as we were visiting with our dog, and we managed a little BBQ outside. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the twin room was ideal for our children (a tween and a teen). Lots of nice spots nearby, and our kids loved Climbing270, just around the corner, which was very well run and would highly recommend too. We had a lovely time! Thank you

Granary Review August 2025

We were greeted by host Stephen on arrival who gave us a very warm welcome and outlined the facilities and local area. The cottage was very well presented and we felt at home straight away. We explored some of the 25 acres of land that belonged to the hosts and met the sheep and horses who were all very friendly. We used the cottage as a base to travel around the Cotswolds taking in all the beauty the area has to offer. Should we visit the area again we would have no hesitation to book here again.

Beautiful, peaceful location with countryside on the doorstep. Plenty of footpaths for dog walking. Owners were friendly and helpful as needed. We enjoyed the proximity to the farm animals and chatting with the horses each morning. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. A perfect place to unwind and be together as a family.

We had a wonderful stay at The Granary, which was well set up with everything we needed, the surrounding grounds were beautiful and Stephen was exceptionally welcoming. The place was very dog friendly and there was even a secure paddock for the pups to run around. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Enjoyable bank holiday weekend in this comfortable house. 2 large bedrooms, and overall house spacious for our group of 3 adults and a dog. The enclosed, dog-friendly garden was appreciated. Nice wood fire. Stephen was very hospitable and also recommended a great pub for Sunday lunch (The Black Horse a short drive away). Would return.

Calm, comfortable stay that exceeded expectations

My spouse, teenage son, and I enjoyed our visit. The Granary was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen had all the utensils and appliances we needed. Stephen was a kind and unintrusive host. We loved the quiet and proximity to sheep, lambs, horses, chickens and cats. We were surprised at how large the cottage was. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a calm, comfortable place to stay near Cheltenham.

Perfect Place

The second time we have visited this lovely property which has everything we need. It is a spacious, clean and well equipped environment making it easy for our family of four to relax. The owner is very welcoming and on hand if needed. We will return.

stunning property in quiet location

Absolutely stunning property in a lovely, quiet rural setting.
Just a short drive to Cheltenham or Gloucester. Unfortunately we stayed during Storm Bert so were unable to take advantage of the nearby walks, but are planning to return again in the summer.
The owner could not be more welcoming. The fresh eggs from the farm hens were delicious.

Perfect

Excellent stay!
Accommodation was perfect, with all amenities necessary. We especially enjoyed the fire in the evenings. Stephen was really helpful and answered any questions straight away. Location great. Were a Family of 4 & a dog and had a lovely stay.

A very good, light and airy cottage, with very helpful owners and excellent for our dog.

The wood-burner wasn't very efficient at heating the room, hence 4 for comfort above. However the bed was the most comfortable in any cottage we have hired for years, the owners' fields made exercising the dogs the easiest it possibly could be, and the every 10 minute bus service into Cheltenham from the end of the lane was an absolute boon when we both needed to go in and out of town at different times during the day and evening.

Excellent cottage. Very comfortabele

We enjoyed our time in this cottage. All very comfortable and practical. The owner was very friendly and helpful with directions and tips. We enjoyed the quiet location. Chrltenham and Gloucester on the doorstep. The Farm Shop next door has excellent EV charging facilities as well as a nice shop of course. Catching the sun on the patio was very much enjoyed.

Nice week in the cotswolds

The cottage was excellently equipped. We had a lot of space.
The owners were very nice and greeted us with eggs, milk and a bunch of flowers.

Easter Break and the warmest of welcomes

What a warm welcome we all received - us and our dog! The hosts Stephen and Jess are experts at being very available when you need them at the same time never interfering - so we felt really looked after as well as feeling all the independence of holidaying in a separate space. The Granary is beautiful - well equipped, great wifi signal, warm, the shower is pipping hot, the beds comfy, carpeted throughout and the log burner makes the place so cosy (and Stephen lit it for our arrival). We wished the rain might have made walking a little easier as the ground was sodden (you need wellies!), and we wished that there would be have a pub to be able to walk to across the fields...but, there is a farm shop within reach...and frankly those things have nothing to do with the actual property, which we would return to in a heartbeat. And the dog even got to make use of a warm shower outside post walks, so she was happy and we liked having the downstairs utility room to store all the dog and walking gear! We are planning to come back - if this gem isn't fully booked the whole time - thank you so much!

A wonderful weekend away

Great access to the town and activities. Lovely log burner and incredibly welcoming & helpful owner.

Just perfect!

Our stay at The Granary was perfect. We were moving out of our house and it was so lovely to have such a cosy sanctuary to go back to at the end of busy days. Stephen was so welcoming and helpful. We could not have asked for more. Everything you need is provided. The kitchen is well equipped, the sofas comfortable and the wood burner is fabulous. The bed was comfortable with lovely linen. The Granary is at the end of a long and pretty bumpy lane, and the first time it is a little daunting, but we soon got used to it and looked forward to the views opening out when we got to the property. Stephen was kind enough to let us walk our dogs in his fields, so they loved it too! When we need to stay in Cheltenham again, the Granary would be our first choice. Thank you Stephen.

Wonderful stay

We have had a wonderful stay at the Granary. Stephen is a very friendly host, the house is spacious and very comfortable and the location is perfect for exploring the Cotswolds and all its walks. If you are looking for a quiet stay, but not far away from a few big cities, this is the place to be.

Perfect Stay at Christmas

We were welcomed by our host, who was friendly and informative. The house was of a good size and had comfortable sofas and beds. A nice log burner kept us warm and cosy. There was also a large area in which to walk our dogs as well as a small self-contained garden. Just perfect!

A beautiful place, excellent host and wonderful location

We loved our stay at The Granary; Stephen is a true gentleman who welcomed us into his property and put up Christmas decorations for us! It felt really homely and the location is beautiful. Stephen was only next door if we needed anything and was happy to provide local advice, it was great meeting him.
The Granary has plenty of room and has so many original features and a great deal of care has gone into the property.
We will be back.

A perfect cottage

Granary Cottage was absolutely beautiful and even more spacious than shown. It was immaculate, very well equipped and the owner Stephen was so very friendly, welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. The views from the bedrooms were fabulous and the countryside location was spectacular. A truly fabulous holiday in a perfect cottage and really accommodating for our two labradors so that we could relax and enjoy them

A lovely family short stay

Stephen and Jessica are very welcoming hosts. The cottage is very comfortable and located in the middle of fields with many lovely walks to do in the area. We had a great family stay!

Wonderful Christmas stay

Welcoming owners just next door showed us where everything was and the best places to dog walk, including a large field on the farm so secure.
The property was beautifully decorated for Christmas and they even lent us their rolling pin so we could make our annual gingerbread house!
Beautiful wood burner in the lounge, with a giant TV for those festive season films.
Useful utility room for muddy boots and storage. Kitchen small but everything you need for a holiday.

Well located, clean cottage for a Cotswold break

The Granary, provided a clean, well located base for a Cotswold getaway. Plenty of space and good parking. The Owner is extremely hospitable. However, we felt the cottage was overpriced in comparison to others weve staid in.
Annabell Crabtree
Granary stay

A few flies around windows on arrival which I hate. No milk shower gel or shampoo as mentioned in booking. Grill in oven dirty. Not sure what the £70 cleaning fee is all about as cobwebs around still and windows need a good cleaning apart from that a nice stay with comfortable bed
Guest
Excellent place to stay

A lovely place to stay if you want rest and relaxation. The Cotswolds in general are closely available and lots of walking in the area. The granary is a lovely old place full of character. Two excellent local pubs who serve food and welcome dogs.

Definitely recommend staying here.
Perfect to exploring the Cotswolds .

Such a relaxing break

Brilliant value for money. So simple to book and the nice touch of owners contacting prior to arrival was nice.
Great location for visiting the Cotswolds. I know the cottage is in a farm but driveway could do with a little TLC but other than that cannot fault the property.
