If you’re looking to get away to a peaceful retreat in the heart of the Cotswolds where you can enjoy leisurely strolls through the countryside and days out visiting quaint villages filled with honey stone cottages, then Bill’s Cottage brings you the epitome of country living. Set on a working arable farm you are surrounded by stunning far-reaching views. This comfortable cottage will allow you to feel at home so you can enjoy your time with family and friends. The large living room has space for everybody to spread out and play board games into the evening in front of the wood burning stove and the cottage kitchen has a spacious dining area. Each of the three bedrooms have plump bedding and blankets and surround you in peaceful silence. All of your needs are catered for in this well-equipped cottage and you will enjoy spending time in the garden with the children and family pet looking out across the views in your rural setting.

Despite being in a rural location, Bill’s Cottage is perfectly situated for exploring the northern Cotswolds, from Cheltenham to Burford, north to Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold, you can reach a number of highlights in less than half an hour.

Overview

You arrive at Bill’s Cottage along a quiet country lane, passing farmland on each side with glimpses out to the hills in the distance. It is set on a working farm just outside Turkdean and Northleach and has been renovated to a high standard while keeping many of the original features in place. The cottage is the perfect setting for a family get together, or a reunion of friends who just need time away to reminisce and build new memories. You will find wooden beams and an original fireplace with its exposed stone surround, stone flooring and window seats and images showing the restoration process of this old farm cottage. Providing a base to explore the surrounding area you have everything you could need for your time in the Cotswolds.

The heart of the cottage is a large sitting room which looks out to the garden. Gather here in front of the fire for long conversations, planning trips and competitive matches of charades. If you’re staying during the summer you can take your meals outside to the lovely garden where you are enveloped in the scent of lavender, but if not the kitchen has a dining area for serving meals made from the ingredients you bought at the local markets found that day. Upstairs three bedrooms give you the rest you need after days spent laughing, walking and marvelling at the Cotswold countryside.

In the garden you may hear the hum of farmyard machinery which adds to this rural setting. With an outdoor dining area and a couple of loungers you can bring a book outside, watch the children and dog race around the lawn and take advantage of the BBQ for slow cooked meals. You are spoilt for locations to visit here, Cheltenham is around a thirty minute drive where you can meander through the regency town’s streets. Much loved Bourton-on-the-Water and Burford are nearby and you have a choice of National Trust estates.

Fabulous stay

Verified Up Front Reviews
From the moment we arrived we knew were were going to love our stay. Could not fault the cottage for its postion, cleanliness, well equipped kitchen and very large lounge which accommodated 5 adults and an 'one the go' toddler perfectly. I have marked comfort down by one mark as the sofas were not the most comfortable. Every activity we wanted to do was within 10 - 20 mins away - perfect. We loved our stay and would definately recommend it. Thank you so much Mary for the delicious cake and eggs x

A wonderful retreat in the countryside

Verified Up Front Reviews
The cottage is on a very quiet rural lane with pleasant walks straight from the door. it is right in the middle of open countryside - we saw partridges, pheasants, deer and Red Kites as well as the smaller birds who fed at the feeder. We were very impressed by the cottage itself - the rooms were all good sizes, it had all the facilities that we needed, and the heating kept it very warm (we went in Oct). There was a big television in the lounge, and a fast internet connection. The welcome goodies included a lovely touch of a sponge cake, along with bread, milk, eggs from the farm, and logs for the fire. The owner was very helpful when we met her. All in all, we thoroughtly enjoyed our stay here.

We had a fantastic stay at Bill’s Cottage. The cottage was spotless and the homemade cake and fresh eggs were delicious! The location is great for walks, pubs and also popular nearby places such as Bourton on the Water. A great host, very responsive and always happy to help. Check in was simple and explained in advance. The garden was secure for our dog and lovely to sit out in and Finn the horse always came to say good morning. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

A few minor niggles but overall a lovely stay at Bill's

We had a lovely stay at Bill's Cottage. Unfortunately the address provided by Bolthole is incorrect which resulted in us having to make a 30 minute detour so please double check this with the owners when booking! The welcome cake, eggs and milk was a lovely touch and we thoroughly enjoyed our tea and cake upon arrival. Place was very clean and homely. Kids loved feeding Finn the horse next door. There is a nespresso machine but no coffee pods provided so bring your own if you want this. Unfortunately the smoke alarm battery went off multiple times on the last night resulting in disrupted sleep but no one's fault.

The hostess has everything in tip top order. The welcome was very warm with flowers, cake, eggs and bread. There is a special pet that comes by every now and then to say hello (the hostess had treats ready for this occasion). It is wonderfully quiet and it is very private. The location is beautiful, what beautiful surroundings!

Another wonderful stay at the beautiful Bill’s Cottage. Location is superb: close enough to local villages and towns, but secluded enough to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area. Plenty of great walks close to and from the cottage. The cottage itself is very well appointed and a superb host. It was the extra touches that helped make it so good: from the homemade Victoria sponge, fresh bread, eggs and milk, to the pack of polos left to treat the horse who poked his head over the wall to say hello. All in all, Bill’s Cottage makes a wonderful, homely retreat!

Pamela

Beautifully appointed cottage in a great location for the Cotswolds. Watching the swifts and the bats in the evenings was a highlight. Thank you for being such a fab host.

Katy

Very good property for a short or long stay.

We had a wonderful weekend staying at Bills Cottage, surrounded by the beautiful Cotswold's countryside. It was peaceful setting, with a lovely garden, comfortable beds, a relaxing sitting room and well equipped kitchen. It was interesting to stay in a house with such rich farming history, we loved seeing Finn the horse from the kitchen window and lots of wildlife around us. Would really recommend. Perfect base to visit Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water etc. Excellent coffee and brunch at the Old Prison in Northleach in only a 35 minutes walk / 5 minute drive too.

Bills Cottage is perfect, the views from the cottage are just wonderful. Mary who owns the property was lovely, a lovely cake and other goodies made for a nice welcome. The cottage is very clean and comfortable, the kitchen ahs everything you need for your stay. We walked to North leach which is about 35min walk through a lovely village and across beautiful scenery. We loved our stay at Bill's Cottage, a beautifully converted farm house warm and spacious with all the facilities you could think of in a gentle countryside. Mary thoughtfully had a lovely Victoria Sponge , Fresh Eggs, Butter, Loaf of Bread & Milk left for us in a well equipped kitchen. Not to mention Poly Mints to treat Fin a very gentle & friendly neighbouring horse. Bright & spacious Sitting Room with 3 sofas, a Large TV , free WiFi, great choice of Books to read and Board Games to play with. Relaxing Bedrooms with comfortable beds. We had the most wonderful long weekend at Bill’s Cottage in April. The cottage is extremely clean and well equipped, with absolutely everything we needed. There’s plenty of space and everything is well laid out. The homemade cake and local treats on arrival were very welcome and we loved Finn the horse visiting over the gate each day. A truly wonderful stay, amazing host and great location for lots of Cotswold days out. We hope to return soon!

We stayed with 2 children & our dog. The cottage was well equipped, a few lovely touches such as a home made cake on arrival. We had the log burner on a few times which gave the cottage a real cosy feel. Fin the horse was a big hit with our kids! Lovely quiet walks right on our doorstep, & well situated to visit the local Cotswold towns & villages. Would happily recommend & would stay again. 5*

A v nice long weekend

Bill's cottage was a lovely property, v well equipped and ideal for our short family get-away (parents, daughter, grandchild and dog) and in a v quiet location. The owner was v friendly and helpful and provided some introductory food items such as bread, milk, eggs from the farm and a delicious home-made sponge cake. She even provided a packet of polos for us to give to the horse in the adjacent field who would come for his treat over the fence in the early evening. There were lots of interesting places to visit nearby plus plenty of pubs for meals in the area. It made a v nice venue for a family get-together for a long weekend.

Bills cottage is in a perfect location. Rural views all around, peaceful & quiet but not far off the beaten track & easy to find. It is very central for the whole of the Cotswolds. Clean, cosy, comfortable and well equipped. Hard to beat. Some very welcoming finishing touches (fresh flowers, homemade cake etc). The owner was very friendly, welcoming and informative. Highly recommended.

We are a family of five adults and the cottage was perfect for us - good layout, clean and comfortable, very well presented and equipped and has plenty of hot water. Bills cottage was just perfect for my family and I. Mary the host was super useful and friendly when we arrived with some home made touches such a freshly baked cake, eggs and bread. The cottage itself is in a fabulous location, Northleach, Bourton on the water and stow on the wold all very close just a few miles drive. The cottage was super clean, welcoming and cosy - we are already talking about our next trip to the cottage next year.

Everything you could hope for in a property

We had the most amazing week away at Bill’s Cottage. The house was absolutely immaculate, very well equipped and Mary had provided such lovely treats (beautiful sponge cake, fresh eggs, milk & bread) on arrival. We had our toddler with us and Mary had thoughtfully put up a travel cot with lovely fresh blankets which our daughter loved and slept in beautifully. The house is fantastic if you are visiting with small children (lots of plastic bowls, cups, cutlery etc for children, as well as a stair gate, fire guard, highchair and travel cot). It was such a joy to stay in the cottage, which is very well positioned for exploring many areas in the Cotswolds. We will definitely rebook when visiting the area. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Perfectly placed cottage for a family get together. Clean and comfortable accommodation for 6 adults, a toddler and a large dog. Lovely welcome touches with milk, bread, eggs, tea and coffee and a super cake. Lots of walks and places to visit within easy walking or driving distance and a well equipped kitchen for family meal times. Thoroughly recommend the cottage and its friendly owner who lives next door.

Lovely stay at Bill’s Cottage

Verified Up Front Reviews
We were a family of 6 (3 generations) with a baby and a dog and found the space in the cottage really good. The main living room and kitchen having lots of space. The utility room with washing machine facilities was an added bonus with a small baby in the party. The garden was fabulous to sit in, especially during late evening. The surrounding area was perfect for exploring the Cotswolds. We loved Northleach and in particular the Sherborne Arms has to recommended as an exceptional place to get food, in a lovely relaxed “pub setting”. We loved our stay at Bill’s Cottage!
