Archers is a sumptuously decorated, 4-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom, luxury holiday cottage, built between the 18th and 19th Century, just minutes from Sudeley Castle and the gorgeous Cotswold town of Winchcombe. The cottage has an elegant and cosy living room, with a woodburner, a dining room, comfortably seating 8, a fully equipped kitchen with breakfast table and a delightful garden with views to Winchcombe. The cottage sleeps 8 across 1 en-suite king-size bedroom; 1 en-suite super-king; and 1 super-king and 1 twin, sharing a bathroom, with a further downstairs cloakroom. There is free, easily accessible parking for up to 2 cars. Archers Cottage is dog friendly.

During your stay, you are entitled to free admission to Sudeley Castle and Gardens during the Castle’s open season (except for separately ticketed events).

Overview

Archers is a beautifully decorated and furnished historic, Cotswold-stone country cottage, formed from the renovation and joining of two cottages, one built in the 18th Century and the other built in the 19th Century. From the luxury wallpaper to the gorgeous objet d’art and artwork, all carefully chosen by Elizabeth, Lady Ashcombe (who oversaw the renaissance of Sudeley Castle in the 20th Century), Archers will perfectly suit a group of friends or an extended family.

The cottage has a wrap-around gravel border, which opens out at the rear into a pretty garden, with mature trees and a patio with BBQ and outside seating. The garden runs down to Beesmoor Brook, which feeds into the River Isbourne running through Winchcombe.

Ground Floor

Porch:
Enter Archers through the front door, protected from the elements by a pretty wooden porch, and head into the hallway with its original stone flooring. Guests will find this is a handy place to remove outdoor footwear and hang coats.

Kitchen:
The dual aspect, fully equipped kitchen looks out over the front of the property and to the rear garden, with its view to Beesmoor Brook. The kitchen features a range-style Cuisinemaster oven with three ovens and a five-ring hob. A refectory-style table comfortably seats four for breakfast or serves as an additional preparation space. A dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer is provided along with all the utensils, food preparation equipment, crockery and glassware needed for a luxury, self-catered stay.

Dining Room:
The cottage’s original flagstone floor, sturdy wooden beams and inglenook fireplace lend great character to the Dining Room, which comfortably seats eight around a long wooden table. The wood burner-effect fireplace provides a subtle background heat and gentle glow - without overheating diners!

Downstairs Cloakroom:
Under the stairs, off the Dining Room, is a handy downstairs toilet and wash basin.

Living Room:
The centrepiece of Archers is the beautifully bright yet cosy and stylish Living Room, with its wood burner fireplace, soft primrose coloured walls and delightful objets d’art and books chosen by Elizabeth, Lady Ashcombe. The Living Room is furnished with two sink-in sofas, two armchairs, footstools and a coffee table with a wide-ranging collection of colourful reference books. To one side is a desk with a chair and table lamp, making it an ideal place to make notes, do some research or write a postcard. A card table is located under the window overlooking the garden, and large, smart TV is positioned above the fireplace. Starter logs and kindling are provided for guests’ first fire. (Additional logs may be purchased from general stores and supermarkets in Winchcombe).

First Floor

Landing:
The fully carpeted landing is decorated with a rich blue, ornate, William Morris-style wallpaper, and features contemporary and antique paintings on its walls. There is a full-length mirror and large storage cupboard - ideal for placing luggage and where guests will find the travel cot, stairgate and highchair. At one end of the landing there is a one step up to Bedrooms 1 and 2, and, at the other end, one step up to Bedroom 3.

Bedroom 1:
At the far end of the Landing, straight ahead from the top of the stairs, is the ensuite master bedroom with king-size bed. The bedroom, with its restful duck-egg blue walls and accents of taupe, overlooks Castle Street from the bedroom and the cottage courtyard entrance from the ensuite shower room. The room is furnished with a king-size double bed, bedside tables, with touch-sensitive reading lamps, a double wardrobe, a luggage rack, antique armchair and a chest of drawers with a large mirror above. The ensuite has a large walk-in shower, with central and hand-held shower heads, a toilet, wash basin with mirror (and shaver point) and a heated towel rail. (Note: there is one very small step down into Bedroom 1 from the Landing).

Bedroom 2:
The soft-yellow walls and contrasting exposed beams make this bedroom a delightfully calm and inviting room, featuring a super king-size bed, bedside tables and touch-sensitive reading lamps, a double wardrobe, luggage rack and antique chair. The ensuite has a large walk-in shower, with central and hand-held shower heads, a toilet, wash basin with mirror (and shaver point) and a heated towel rail. Bedroom 2 can be set up as a twin on request.

Bedroom 3:
The creamy ochre walls of Bedroom 3 create a warm and inviting ambience. This bedroom has views out over the garden towards Winchcombe through the Velux window, set in the sloping celling with its original oak beam. Bedroom 3 features a super king-size bed, hand painted, antique bedside tables and touch-sensitive reading lamps, luggage rack and an antique armchair. Bedroom 3 can be set up as a twin on request.

A second door leads through to a dressing area, with double wardrobe, to another door that leads into the bathroom shared with Bedroom 4.

Bedroom 4:
Archers’ twin bedroom features twin beds on original Victorian metal bed frames with a shared bedside chest of drawers and ornate reading lamp. A striking block print wallpaper with hares and thrushes creates a feature behind the beds while a rocking chair beckons you in to sit and rest. (Note the beds are slightly higher than beds on standard frames.)

A second door leads through to a dressing area, with double wardrobe, to another door that leads into the bathroom shared with Bedroom 3.

Family Bathroom:
Sitting conveniently between Bedroom 3 and 4, the private, Shared Bathroom features a large walk-in shower, with central and hand-held shower heads, a corner bath with hand-held shower for hair washing, a toilet, wash basin with vanity unit and extendable mirror and a heated towel rail.

Outside

From the front of the cottage, a gravelled border wraps around the side of the cottage (overlooking Castle Street) to the rear where guests have access to a large garden laid to lawn, with mature trees and a patio with outdoor seating for eight. A path leads down to a wooden picket fence, which borders Beesmoor Brook that feeds the River Isbourne as it runs through Winchcombe. Please note that the fencing provides a secure barrier to prevent children from accessing the brook. However, the side garden is raised and open, which is a potential fall hazard for young children. Therefore, please ensure children are not left unattended in the garden.

Archers at Sudeley

Verified Up Front Reviews
We love the setting of the Sudeley cottages and the access to the castle. Very comfortable at Archers cottage and ideal for a family group. Winchcombe has good pubs and great Indian restaurant. Cottage well equipped- only suggestion we have is that for size of cottage and number of guests then a larger fridge would be useful. We will return next year!

Great stay for a wedding at Sudeley Castle

Verified Up Front Reviews
Stayed here for a weekend as part of a wedding at Sudeley Castle. Ideally located and very comfortable. My only small piece of feedback was that the beds were very hard and could have done with a topper mattress. Otherwise brilliant stay and would highly recommend to anyone.

Good and bad

Verified Up Front Reviews
The cottage was clean with a well equipped kitchen, nice bathrooms, warm and comfortable. However the bed in the ‘yellow bedroom’ was very uncomfortable the mattress had lumps and springs coming through although the maintenance guys tried to remedy this it needs to be changed for future use. Also the garden was overgrown and I had to request that the lawn be cut. Dog mess found even after that. Clearly in need of some garden maintenance both front and rear.

I stayed at Archers cottage with family of varying ages for my daughter’s wedding. The cottage was clean and tidy on arrival. There was a starter pack of essentials which was great. Fully equipped kitchen. Fresh towels in all rooms which were all good sizes. Plenty of bathrooms. Would highly recommend.

Excellent would book again

Verified Up Front Reviews
A most pleasing welcome with the milk, coffee, tea, biscuits, washing up liquid, it’s all there ready and just feels so warm and friendly to walk into after a long journey. Disappointed unable to use air fryer. I think one should be put in the kitchen. It did take a long time to cook for so many people. Wanted to spend time with family not in the kitchen. The garden needed more maintenance. There were many brambles in the garden and we had to watch the children. The garden furniture was the worst part of the cottage. The furniture was old, very uncomfortable and one chair was broken. We all loved eating in the garden and sitting out until quite late. We had great weather and it was idillic to sit there. Overall we had an absolutely fantastic time. I just felt for the money we paid, those extra touches would have been addressed. Everyone of us did have an absolutely wonderful and exceptional week and we all look forward to seeing you again next year. Thank you

All is well - and good

Verified Up Front Reviews
Everything about Archers Cottage was terrific, and the advertised features were completely accurate, very comfortable for our family group of six. The only fault was the condition of the garden furniture: It will soon need to be replaced. It was especially helpful to have a full notebook of user instructions for the electrical appliances - especially for Americans whose appliances are often different.

Return stay for the third time!

Verified Up Front Reviews
Archer Cottage is a beautiful place to stay at Sudely Castle and perfect for our group of friends attending Fantasy Forest. The large garden with barbecue, lots of space and en-suite bathrooms makes it perfect for our group so we can spend social time together without getting under each others feet all the time! We have noticed a few items of wear and tear on our third stay, which I hope will be addressed having sent separate feedback, when we return next year. The only slight niggles, which I see have been addressed in other reviews, are the very small fridge and hard mattresses. Otherwise the place is perfect!

Archers at Sudeley Castle April 2025

Verified Up Front Reviews
We had a most enjoyable stay at Archers. The cottage is spacious and extremely well equipped; it had everything we needed for our visit. The cottage is warm, homely and clean with plenty of hot water. The provision of a coffee machine and pods was a bonus. Accessibility to the castle is a short, pleasant walk across a field, close to the cottage. The village of Winchcombe is a 2-3 minute walk down the lane. Archers is very convenient for exploring the Cotswolds and was always lovely to come back to. I would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

We were looking for a cosy cottage in which to spend Christmas with the family and Archers was perfect. It was exactly as described in the listing and just what we were looking for.

A fantastic house for a weekend with a group of friends.

Verified Up Front Reviews
The house was perfect for a weekend celebration. In particular there was lots of space downstairs so we could spread out. A well equipped kitchen with plenty of plates, cutlery etc was a bonus as we ate in a couple of times. We went out walking in wild weather and on our return felt that a shoe rack and more coat hooks in the hallway would have been really helpful. The only downside; we felt the quality of the bedding and bedlinen could be improved to make the bedrooms more luxurious.

Weekend break at Archers

Verified Up Front Reviews
The property is part of a small development very close to the town centre. Access was easy and the house was lovely and warm when we arrived. Kitchen facilities good and downstairs rooms comfortable. The bedrooms were nicely furnished. I found the beds quite hard personally but the pillows were good as were the showers. I marked cleanliness down as the windows were quite dirty and the shared bathroom had clearly had a leak from the roof which we were unaware of at time of booking. We visited in November so were unable to make use of the outside area. The garden has a pathway through it to the main road from the car park so itis not entirely private and may cause some issues for dog owners

Comfortable stay and great location

Verified Up Front Reviews
We had a lovely stay at Archers celebrating my husband's 60th birthday. Winchcombe is delightful with lovely shops, lots of local walks and the free entry to Sudeley Castle was a great day out. The cottage is well equipment although the fridge is small for 8 guests and some larger serving bowls would have been useful. The dining table is also on the small side for 8 with the table legs getting in the way of a comfortable seating arrangement. It was a shame that the ironing table, clothes drier and high chair were stored in the inglenook in the dining room as it would have been nice to have them out of sight. The beds were comfortable although a topper on the superkings would have been nice so that the join in the mattresses wasn't so evident, but we slept well. It was beautifully warm and cosy throughout and the large living area was ideal for 8. Other suggestions for improvement would be an extra bedside lamp in each bedroom so that there is one each side of the bed and the front garden was rather neglected. Customer service was excellent however - a broken tin opener was replaced within the hour. Thank you for a lovely stay and we would definitely consider returning again.

We used the cottage as accommodation for our bridal party before my wedding and we were so pleased with how clean, quaint and lovely the cottage was. The kitchen was well equipped and the information regarding check in and check out was great. Only thing that could make it easier would be more precise address to give to taxis as they did struggle to locate the cottage.

A perfect stay - great layout for a group of friends, particularly ground floor with the generous linked kitchen, dining and living areas. Very close to the village centre, and several long walks from the door step. Everything you could need - very comfrtable and relaxing.

Great stay, we hope to return.

From the moment we entered the cottage we loved it. It was very clean, beautifully decorated and in a great location. The rooms were plenty big enough for our group of 7 friends and the kitchen had everything we could have wished for, the welcome pack for an initial cup of coffee or tea was most welcome as were the logs for the log burner (with a shop selling more kindling and logs within a 3 minute walk). The beds were very comfortable and the showers terrific, we could not fault it. My wife and I hope to return to one of the smaller cottages next summer to take advantage of seeing Sudeley Castle and Gardens which unfortunately are closed from October to March. Overall a great stay at a reasonable price.

Great place for a friends getaway

Verified Up Front Reviews
This was our second visit to the same cottage. It's location is ideal. As a place to stay for 3 couple it's super, each having a bathroom. Winchcombe has everything you need, free entry into the castle is bonus. Welcome pack could be better, generic tea, coffee and packet biscuits. An acknowledgement as a repeat customer would also be quite nice. The cottage still had the same maintenance issues as the year before, mirror in the bathroom very loose, kick board under the dishwasher catching and the dishwasher was loose. Cottage looked a little tired, marks on the walls. We were 6 adults, the ironing board and childs high chair really could have been put away instead on inside the fire place.

Lisa Cook

A delightful stay.

Verified Up Front Reviews
We took our 2 grown up children plus the family of one and the partner of the other. So 8 in all and 2 dogs. Lots of space for all of us in this very well equipped cottage. The cottage was in excellent condition although the bedroom doors can be a bit creaky and there is some traffic noise for the 2 front bedrooms. We had some problem getting the heating to work initially. The boiler was in the roof and the pressure was low. But on a Sunday night 2 cheerful maintenance men turned out and fixed the problem. If this cottage is typical and I’m sure it is, then it is an excellent choice. The Castle and town are only a few minutes away with lots of walking opportunities from the doorstep.

Family getaway

Verified Up Front Reviews
Great place to stay literally in the town but didn't feel like it loads of space in the property so you weren't on top of each other. Glad we could take dog as there was loads of walks around the area, garden was great but not fully fenced in so needed to be mindful when dog was out in garden with us. That being said it was a great place to stay and the town of Winchcombe was lovely with nice pubs to eat and drink but the kitchen in the property was brilliant if you want to cook for yourself. 3 double bedrooms with ensuite and a room with 2 single beds so that was great as well as you don't get that in many places.

Beautiful cottages

Verified Up Front Reviews
We love staying in those cottages , have been for each Fantasy Forest Festivals, from smaller ones to the larger ones. They are beautiful and the location is ideal. Very practical with parking, love the BBQ and garden . Each decors beautiful and in keeping . Only little negative, for a cottage for 8 people such a tiny fridge, same size as a cottage for 4 people, also there is never enough loo rolls but at least we remembered to bring some along . Last feedback : miroirs, one in each room would be so useful, especially for the rooms that share a bathroom . Stunning place to stay and cannot wait to return . Checking in is also super easy.

Love Winchcombe

Verified Up Front Reviews
We absolutely loved Winchcombe, all the history, picture perfect setting and wonderful small shops, cafes and pubs. The Archers suited or 8-person, 3 generation family perfectly. Terrific walking all around including into Winchcombe, all the local trails and free access to Sudeley Castle and the grounds. The large back garden was perfect for us and the character of the house has been well maintained. The house needs attention to just a few minor areas: Each of the 3 bathrooms need a shelf or at minimum a soap dish, bending down for soap etc. at floor level was no fun. As a family of 8 there needed to be more crockery and cutlery, at max there is 10 of each and we had to run the dishwasher twice per day. Other than that, and a little more bedroom storage we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Archers.

Andrew Nixon

Good location

Verified Up Front Reviews
When I looked at some of the recent reviews, I did wonder if we had rented the same property or my expectations were higher. Then I looked back on some of the other reviews, and they pretty much mirrored my views and sadly nothing has been done with anyone’s previous feedback going forward. This was a weekend away for a special birthday and we had a nice time and glorious weather. The cottage is a reasonable size and caters for 8 people. It has a good sized garden with a padlocked gate, however the other end of the garden is pretty much open apart from a loose chain effect, so wouldn’t be suitable for young children or animals unless strict supervision, as this is easy access to the front of the house and the road! The cottage is in a great location, walkable to Winchcombe and lots of walks on your door step, even a steam railway 30 mins walk away. The cottage is old which is nice but is in need of some TLC, maintenance and a refresh of furnishings ( also prev mentioned a year ago!) the kitchen is nice and modern but the fridge is a very small one considering it caters for 8 people and the dishwasher is quite lose on opening. The beds are very hard and some found uncomfortable. Two of the bedrooms didn’t have mirrors in them, which is difficult for women and make up etc, and one blind was covered in mould. The outside bins for the area were overflowing with bottles and rubbish and not a good sight to look out of from one of the bedrooms. The door latch to the back door was broken and we lost hot water. Once we realised they did send someone out within 10 minutes but, it was too late to shower before going out for the evening. The garden was big and lovely, but the outside furniture was very uncomfortable wooden slat table and chairs, as they don’t have any cushions to put on them. Outside front and back door lots of cobwebs and some weeds growing, which is not a good look for guests on arrival. Would of liked to give it more stars but unfortunately, a lot of these minor issues could be so easily rectified to give guests a better experience, and with a little money spent on it, has the potential to be a fabulous 5* cottage. We did however have a nice weekend, and appreciated the free entrance to the castle, which was a bonus, thank you!

Our second stay in Archers. It suits our group of 4 old school friends now in our 60s very well. It’s a convenient location with everything you need within walking distance. Off street parking for our 4 cars and some lovely country walks to take from the doorstep along with free entry to the fascinating and interesting Sudeley Castle. The property was spotlessly clean and although there were only 3 bathrooms, the layout of the upstairs made sharing one very easy. I am sure we will return next year.

Lovely friend retreat

Verified Up Front Reviews
Lovely cottage with the addition of Sudeley Castle on the door step. Winchcombe has all you need for a small getaway. Its location is excellent for exploring the Cotswolds. Cottage was clean and tidy, although a couple of “attention to detail” repairs need to be made, not sure where to report these. Wonky / unusable bathroom mirror in family bathroom, baseboard on dishwasher and dishwasher need fixing in place, light switch in one of the bedrooms and some cosmetic touch ups. Bedrooms could do with mirrors for makeup, hairdryer use.

Fantastic location in a charming Cotswold village

Verified Up Front Reviews
We adored our stay at Archers! It's a charming cottage with enough rustic "character" to give us a quaint Cotswold experience but enough modern amenities to make for a very comfortable and easy stay. It was the perfect size for our group of four, and we enjoyed making meals in the lovely (large!) kitchen. The garden is very nice, and the location within 5-minute walking distance to Winchcombe (and an easy walking distance to Sudeley Castle) was perfection. One thing to note is that the cottage is attached to other cottages in a little courtyard, so it's not stand-alone. We liked that setup, as the neighbors were quiet and it felt very safe. Our only minor complaint was that the mattresses were a little firm for our taste. Otherwise, all was great and we would certainly recommend and stay again.

A beautiful and comfortable base

My favourite so far of the Sudely Castle cottages. Very roomy and comfortable, beautifully fitted out and having so many bathrooms worked perfectly for our little group of friends attending an event at the castle. The only slight criticism was the fridge size, for a house accommodating 8 people, the fridge was very small!

Walking and chilling in the Cotswolds

A lovely property in an excellent location. Park the cars on arrival and no need to use them again until you leave. Archers is very well equipped and has some “extras” not found in most holiday lets. Mirrors in some of the bedrooms would be useful, hairdryers need a very long lead to see in bathroom mirrors! Free entry to Sudeley Castle is a fabulous bonus. We’ll be back.

Walking group holiday

Archers is a lovely cottage with all the amenities you need. The garden is a lovely place to relax after a day spent walking. The lounge area was very spacious. The only minor problem was a lack of space to store food supplies. We cleared one cupboard of cooking utensils so that we could put our food away. The barbecue was an added bonus and much bigger than we expected. The cottages are very well located in the heart of Winchcombe and within walking distance of shops and pubs. A great location to be based for walking.

Well located and appointed place to stay

Verified Up Front Reviews
The house is charming - well appointed, with basics and some luxuries provided. Lots of space for family to gather, eat, talk. Kitchen was large enough to manage making meals for six adults. Bedrooms were comfortable, distinct and charming. Lots of oak beams and olde worlde features as you'd expect but careful modernisation. The location is excellent in terms of walks from the doorstep and going into the heart of the village (good range of pubs but watch restaurant opening days). Parking was plentiful. Only slight negative was the at the garden is not fully enclosed so we had to keep a careful watch of our lab. But that was a minor point. Everything else was fab and we will be back.

Wonderful relaxing weekend for a family celebration

Verified Up Front Reviews
We booked the cottage for a family celebration - it was perfect, everything went to plan, even the weather. The location was spot on - we went round the castle and gardens - and the cottage itself was very well equipped with plenty of absolutely everything for eight people. The only thing we would have liked was more fridge space as we had a few extra guests during the day on Saturday! Winchcombe itself was picturesque and we found everyone in the town to be welcoming and friendly. We would defintely book again. The Welcome Pack was really informative!

Lovely cottage in a perfect spot

The house is clean, well equipped and tastefully furnished. It also has a large attractive garden. It is located a very short walk from both Winchcombe High Street and Sudeley Castle, to which entrance is free if you stay here. Both Winchcombe and the castle are charming. A lovely place to stay, with much to see in the area. Highly recommended.

Great house, close to glorious walks, with the benefit of free entry to Sudeley Castle and grounds. My sisters, husband and I thought it an excellent place for a short holiday.

A Beautiful House in a Superb Location

Verified Up Front Reviews
We had a wonderful family get together at Archers. The downstairs rooms are ideal with a sizeable dining area and an attractive, spacious living room. The kitchen is well equipped, the kitchen table means that this is yet another lovely room to enjoy a cup of tea and cake! Upstairs there are comfortable bedrooms and 3 bath/shower rooms. The location is excellent, we could walk from the front door. The town is just a couple of minutes walk up the hill and we enjoyed a wander round, the deli was particularly inviting. In the evening, we had a lovely meal at one of the pubs.

Stay at Archers cottage

Verified Up Front Reviews
A comfortable cottage sleeping up to 8 with 3 doubles and 2 single beds. Heating is very good and keeps the cottage nice and warm. 2 dogs can be accommodated. There is a lawned garden at the back which would be lovely in the warmer months, however there is a drop to the road so young children need to be supervised. There is a chained fence but it is not adequate. Comfy sofas inside the cottage which is quite spacious. The kitchen does not have enough storage space for 8 people. The fridge is small. Cupboards are full of pans so you have to fit dry food alongside. There is a pantry but it is full of crocks. Wooden and stone floors downstairs, carpeted upstairs. I would stay again as it is very comfortable and because of the location.

Derbyshire friends getaway weekend

Verified Up Front Reviews
We were a group of 4 quite picky couples in our 50’s and 60’s but despite numerous cobwebs around (that must’ve been there some time…) we found the property very clean, comfortable well maintained and equipped. Lovely spot and took advantage of free entry to the castle which was very interesting. Couple of niggles were lack of mirrors in bedrooms ( only one in bathroom but tricky drying hair) and insufficient comfy seating for 8 adults ( 2x3 seater sofas and one armchair leaving one unlucky person on a hard dining chair)

Beautiful house, inside and out. I have stayed in a couple of properties on the Sudeley castle estate and none have ever disappointed. The property is maintained and furnished to a high standard without losing the relaxing feel of a holiday break. This property has only one negative. It is located adjacent to a lane leading out of Winchcombe past the castle entrance. This lane is busy and you will hear the cars (morning rush hour, evening coming home) especially in the two bedrooms that look onto the lane. If you are used to hearing cars-fine. If you have come for complete quiet-this may not be the house for you.

I wasn’t able to go into this cottage

Verified Up Front Reviews
We booked two cottages via Bolthole in Winchcombe for a family celebration. My wife and I, with one of our daughters and family, were in one. My other daughter and family, my son and partner, and my brother and sister-in-law were in the other (14 Vineyard Street). The guidance we were sent in advance of arrival was quite clear that we weren’t allowed in each other’s house, so I’m afraid there is nothing I can say really about Archers cleanliness, comfort or condition (- and this form won’t let me leave them blank). Customer service was good (- this was a rearranged lockdown booking) but, as with the other cottage, our three day booking meant we only had access to the cottage for 42 hours in reality, hence the vfm assessment.

Archers cottage in Winchcombe

Verified Up Front Reviews
Archers cottage at Sudeley Castle is a truly lovely cottage, spacious, great location, a short walk to Winchcombe with its good range of independent shops and cafes. There is a bus service into Cheltenham and it is easy to drive to many other attractions and there are many walks with good views. The cottage was well equipped, clean and suited the multi age family group - 3 months, 2, 30's and 60's. The garden was lovely to sit in and parking was easy. The bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms were comfortable and showers/bath provided good hot water with plenty of towels for each guest. My only comment would be that each of the adult guests did not find the mattresses on the beds comfortable and where available had to put spare duvets over the mattress toppers. I would recommend this cottage and would stay there again.

Beautiful house in pretty little town

Verified Up Front Reviews
Four days spent in the beautiful property, Archers in Winchcombe. The property was spotlessly clean, with lovely soft sheets and towels in spacious bedrooms. The kitchen was well equipped but the broken shelves in the fridge made storage for 8 guests a bit tricky. Parking for a large group was very generous and a free visit to Sudeley Castle included in the cost of rental made it extremely good value. Would highly recommend a visit to this lovely old house.

Super location and the potential to be an excellent property with some additional features.

Verified Up Front Reviews
As a family of six, we stayed in Archers at Sudeley Castle for one week in August. The location of the property was excellent, with free access to Sudeley Castle, and overall the property was good with plenty of space, however we felt that there were a few points that could be improved on for people wanting to rent the property for more than a couple of nights. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped but there was no cupboard space to store food and the fridge was very small if you are trying to cater for eight people. The beds were all firm, and whilst there was some hanging space within built-in wardrobes the storage space for clothes was very limited, again not a problem for a short stay. The showers were all excellent with plenty of hot water. The garden was lovely, plenty of parking nearby and lots of walking trails on the doorstep. One other minor point was there was only one key for the property. We would happily stay at this property again as overall we had a great holiday in this home.

Lovely cottage close to the village centre

Verified Up Front Reviews
We have had a wonderful stay at Archers Cottage. The cottage is very clean and tidy with newly updated bathrooms and lovely powerful showers. Good size bedrooms, very useful to have our own showers and toilets too. The garden is a good size with a huge bbq which we put to good use on a sunny evening! Only area for improvement would be that the garden is not fully secure to the side so we had to keep an eye on our dogs/put them on lead whilst they were outside. Fantastic location, a short walk into the village town centre with a tasty bakery, pub, fish and chip shop and quaint shops for souvenirs etc. Fantastic that you can get free access to Sudeley castle and gardens included in the stay, which is a lovely touch. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would certainly recommend to others. Thank you!

80th Birthday Celebration

Verified Up Front Reviews
We stayed at Archers to celebrate my Mum's 80th birthday and it is a wonderful cottage. As it was a very hot weekend we spent nearly all the weekend outside in the garden. However, there is a path that has gates either side at the bottom of the garden and we later discovered that this was used by people in the village on a regular basis. We had 2 dogs with us so this was not ideal and there is no mention of this in any of the details. I have emailed the company and have not had a response - I would seriously consider not booking here if you have children that may be in the garden as it is clearly not acceptable to have "strangers" walking through the garden.

A lovely cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this cottage. It was spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable. The location was superb = close to local shops so everything nearby, complete with easy access to some wonderful walks too. The local restaurants were excellent and it was great to be able buy fresh items from the bakery each day. A cottage we would highly recommend and one we look forward to returning to.

Family Celebrations!

Verified Up Front Reviews
The Archers was the perfect location for our family celebration. No need for a car as all amenities in walking distance. A bonus to be able to visit the castle on the Sunday morning after we left the property. Spotlessly clean and so welcoming especially as it rained all weekend from start to finish! Could possibly do with a larger fridge? We had fish and chips from the local Layton's which were good and on the Saturday evening we hired the services of Paul Evans, the chef from The Season Kitchen after reading a review about the Archers. Very professional and thoroughly enjoyed an excellent meal, you would not be disappointed! A memorable family weekend was had by all in beautiful, welcoming, homely surroundings

Beautifully appointed with everything you need - superb

Verified Up Front Reviews
Too often a holiday home in the UK feels like camping out in somewhere with a lack of identity and the bare minimum. Not so at Archers. The house is very well appointed for eight, of the highest quality and with lots of space. The furnishings are of a high quality and have an individual touch, no corporate imaging here. The bedrooms were all of a good size and quality, bathrooms were well-decorated and modern. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The living and dining rooms were more than ample and we also enjoyed the gardens. This was only a short break but we enjoyed time at Sudeley Castle, well worth it, Hidcote, a very impressive garden and still time for some walks. Hopefully we'll be back at some point.
