Overview
The warm golden glow of the Cotswold stone of Appletree Cottage welcomes you as you arrive at this traditional home. Dating back to the 18th century you find a balance between the old and the new creating a contemporary but characterful cottage.
Inside you find an exposed stone inglenook fireplace, beautiful soft furnishings, wooden beams and a comfortable atmosphere. There is a touch of luxury in the ornate décor making Appletree Cottage that bit more special. You instantly feel at home and are drawn to make a cup of tea and put your feet up in front of the fire. There is space to dine together, and family meals can be prepared in the modern kitchen which is complemented by traditional focal points. Each bedroom is a haven for relaxation with a focus on quality bedding and linen so you gently drift away after family days out.
The rear Mediterranean-style garden is perfect for dining alfresco on the terrace. Potted shrubs line the walkway to the gate which takes you straight out to the parking area. There is space for three cars parked end to end, a privilege hard to come by when staying in Bourton-on-the-Water.
Ground Floor
Kitchen:The bright kitchen looks across the garden and is well-equipped for your stay with an oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Prepare meals that can be taken out onto the patio to be enjoyed on sunny days or through to the dining area. The washing machine and tumble dryer are cleverly hidden away to one side.
Bathroom:
The bathroom is tucked away at the back of the cottage and has a bath with a shower over, WC and sink.
Living/Dining Room:
This stylish room makes a feature of the original exposed stone wall which houses an inglenook fireplace and an electric wood burner effect fire. With a choice of seating, you can curl up on an armchair with a good book or sink into the sofa to enjoy a film on the Smart TV.
Tucked under the stairs is a dining area seating four. Making the most of the space you can have a quick breakfast or pull the table out for an evening meal together.
First Floor
Bedroom One:
The master bedroom has a touch of luxury with a king-size bed and soft button-back headboard. The room has been finished with sumptuous bedding and neutral décor inviting you to spend lazy mornings here. Storage is provided with bedside tables and a double built-in wardrobe and there is a fabulous ornate mirror.
En-suite:
The en-suite has a shower cubicle, WC and sink giving guests staying in this room some added privacy.
Bedroom Two:
The second double bedroom overlooks the front garden and is furnished with a king-size bed with soft Egyptian cotton linen, a tall button-back headboard, a large mirror and beautiful mirrored bedside tables and reading lamps. The room has a double built-in wardrobe with plenty of hanging space and a single corner cupboard with shelving.
Bedroom Three:
The final bedroom is an invitingly cosy room with a single bed. Exuding the same style as the double bedrooms there is a feature mirror, button-back headboard, bedside table and lamp. Despite being the smallest room there is also built-in storage so you can unpack and feel at home.
Outside
The main garden at Appletree Cottage is the Mediterranean style hideaway at the rear. With potted plants and seating, you can enjoy a morning coffee or dine with your group at the table and chairs provided. The garden is fully enclosed, and it is a lovely spot to spend time together. At the front of the cottage is a picturesque lawn leading to the rose and ivy enshrined entrance which is no longer in use.

Cosy cottage a stone's throw from beautiful Bourton's centre

We booked Appletree cottage for a birthday weekend away for 5 friends. The local is perfect - a 2 minute walk from the centre of Bourton-on-the-Water but down a side street so blissfully quiet. For such a great location, it was even better to have off street parking at the back of the property. The cottage has a cosy lounge with a dining table, well equipped kitchen (although the dishwasher wasn't working properly), downstairs bathroom, and three bedrooms upstairs (one with an en suite). The house was spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. There were some nice touches like a box of local farm eggs, some delicious shortbread and ground coffee (although sadly no cafetière to use it!) on our arrival. Bourton has many great restaurants and cafes, plus small independent shops, the motor museum and the miniature village. Definitely worth a visit!

What an amazing stay we had at this cottage in Bourton-on-the-Water! This was one of our favourite stays. This cottage was so comfortable and cosy. The linens were luxurious. The garden and its neighbouring gardens were a sweet view from the front window. The entire town was unreal - something out of a fairy tale. We highly recommend and hope to return!
Andrea
Excellent location for seeing Bourton on the Water and with onsite parking which was a bonus for travelling with a car- just a great all rounder! And so close to restaurants and the town! This was one of our favourite places to stay during our travels in the UK.

Perfect Stay in The Cotswolds

Loved our stay at Appletree Cottage, it was in a handy location but very quiet. The welcome pack was a nice surprise and very much appreciated.

Excellent location, 5 minutes walk from the town centre. Spacious. Large living room and bedrooms. There is outdoor seating too, great for drinks or dinner on warm nights! Very clean and well maintained. Super charming cottage vibe and decor. Board games, books, jigsaw puzzles if you run out of things to do at night.

A very small but lovely appointed cottage. Not really suitable for more than 4 people.
Wifi not good upstairs. I would stay here again

Perfection

This sweet place was truly a retreat, in every sense of the word. Its conveniently located and was just the peaceful haven we needed on our Cotswolds trip. Beds were comfortable, little extras provided and it was ideal. Every amenity we needed was right there. A home away from home, but far lovelier. The front garden was beautiful and was nice to look out on from the window seat with a soft blanket and a steaming cup of coffee. It was alsoenjoyable to be in the neighborhood in the evenings and appreciate the quietness, like a local.

A great stay!

Very well placed, equipped and beautifully designed cottage and holiday home. The kitchen is superbly equipped inc a dishwasher and a washing machine. Close by a bakery for fresh bread and a beautiful walk. Host left us fresh brew coffee, tea and biscuits, which was lovely after a long drive. Excellent guides to show you the way along the house. The host is so thoughtful that there was even torches in bedside table drawers!

Cotswold break for 2

Cottage was very well prepared for our stay and well equipped. Having dedicated parking was a real bonus as on-street parking in Bourton is limited. The location is great - just a few minutes walk to the river and main street but far enough away for peace and quiet. All the attractions are within walking distance as our pubs, cafe's, restaurants, shops and grocery stores including an excellent Coop. Would definitely stay again. Bourton is very well located for visiting many of the nearby villages and towns.

We have returned 4 times to this property. Very convenient position, nice walks, plenty of nice places to eat within walking distance.
The property has everything you would need very comfortable.

Charming but challenging

Had a relaxing week in this lovely cottage. Everything was fine with the exception of the dishwasher. My husband who is a retired kitchen fitter confirmed it had been badly fitted, and as such proved a bit of a challenge. Took an hr first time of using.Contacted the housekeeper who gave us instructions on the usage. Made no difference still took several attempts. Someone came to inspect the dishwasher on Friday morning and agreed with Martin's assessment.

Great, well appointed cottage

Our family of 4 had a great time at Apple Tree. The cottage is well thought out and easy to settle into. Our kids loved the window seat in the living room and the front yard. The fireplace was great for chilly mornings. Parking is easy and you can walk to a ton of shops, restaurants, and kids activities. Try the local hedge maze.

A great place to stay in Bourton-on-the-Water

Appletree Cottage was the perfect base for we three friends having a bit of a reunion and getaway. We loved relaxing in the lounge, with its view into the beautiful little garden; we made the most of the tables & chairs in the back garden; everything in the cottage is comfortable, practical and in perfect condition. The cottage is perfectly located -- on a quiet little street, with off-street parking, but only a few steps from all the action and easy access by car out to the wider world. Try the bakery just down the street and visit the Model Village -- great fun.
The cottage may be best suited to a family, as one of the three bedrooms is quite small, but that didn't really detract from our experience. Two of the bedrooms are served by a bathroom downstairs, but motion-sensitive lights make any middle-of-the-night journeys safe and easy. Bourton-on-the-Water is a very busy place, so not for those who don't like to share with their fellow tourists.
Arrival directions can be a bit confusing, but the cottage is on a very short street -- just look for the garage that says "Appletree Cottage."

Overall lovely family hangout.

Great location and lovely property. A bit smaller downstairs than expected but charming.
Note: Cafetière was broken and needed replacing before we arrived. A couple of bits of crockery had chips and should be discarded.

A lovely stay

The cottage is in a fabulous location with lovely neighbours too!
All requirements & more in kitchen

A lovely 3 nights.

Awesome Apple Tree

Perfectly located, beautifully appointed, extremely comfortable. Less than 5 minutes from the heart of Bourton. You could not be in a better location. Master bedroom with ensuite and family bathroom downstairs. Lovely rear garden to relax in, weather permitting!! Only comment would be kitchen items were tired. (Pots, fry pan, crockery chipped)
We would highly recommend the property as we had a wonderful two weeks in Bourton on the Water.

Cosy cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend stay. The cottage was so lovely, warm and cosy, and had everything we needed. The location was perfect, peaceful and quiet, yet within close walking distance of the restaurants and shops, which was ideal as we had my husbands older parents with us. We would definitely recommend and wouldnt hesitate to book again!

Nice Cotswold cottage

We have stayed at the cottage 3 times. It is clean and comfortable, with everything you could possibly need and very near to all ammenities. I had to go into hospital for an operation on the date we had booked to go to the cottage. I contacted Bolthole and they very kindly allowd me to rebook at a later date and at no extra cost, we were very grateful for their help.

An extremely well located cosy cottage.

We really enjoyed our stay at Apple Tree cottage. There were 5 of us for a weekend celebrating a special birthday. The cottage is in the best location in Bourton - easy to walk to every attraction and restaurant. The cottage is very well appointed in the kitchen and the living room is warm and cosy with the gas fireplace. There were only a couple of small drawbacks which brought the rating down a little. The shower in the upstairs bathroom is just a trickle. It is supposed to be a so called power shower but unfortunately, there is no power! All five of us were forced to shower in the downstairs shower in order to obtain any water pressure at all. Another small niggle was that there was only a quarter of a loo roll in the downstairs bathroom when we arrived which necessitated an immediate trip to the supermarket. Also, the heating did not come on twice a day as mentioned in the house information book. The towel rails never heated up at all, which meant we had to use damp towels. Again, these are small inconveniences that I hope the owner could address and would not stop us recommending Apple Tree cottage to others.
Michelle Roberts
Lovely cottage, brilliant location

Very nice cottage, clean, warm, good parking, Wi-Fi, tv and everything right on the doorstep. Comfortable living room and good sized bedrooms.
Nice kitchen but one minor negative comment in that it might be time to update the pans and some of the sharp knives but other than that it has everything you need.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
Terry Tippell
Still a lovely cottage although could be better. Better on previous stay.

We have stayed in this cottage before, about 4 years ago and that stay was superior for a few reasons.
There was no real welcome pack, on our previous stay we were greeted with cake, butter, milk, and a number of other items that made the first impression very strong. This is no longer offered.
Some of the furniture is becoming dated and tired (sofa's, bed etc).
That said, the cottage is in an excellent location and only a 2-minute walk from the main high street. It's very clean and tidy and comfortable. There is sky TV, wireless and a gas log burner which all make the stay very pleasant.
Parking is tight, so be warned if you have a 4x4 or similar sized vehicle as the drive is shared by 3 garages and narrows at the front.
Emma Chignell
Stunning cottage in a great location

I cant fault this cottage, it was absolutely gorgeous. The location is central and is 50 feet from the main area of shops and pubs. The beds were comfortable, and the whole cottage was spotless. It was also great to have parking for 3 cars, so no having to stress about that. An excellent stay!

Lovely cottage

Just had a wonderful weeks stay at Appletree Cottage, the back garden was amazing and caught the evening sun. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated and we felt very at home. Although it was only a few roads away from hustle and bustle of Bourton we couldnt believe how peaceful it was. Highlights of the week was the riding at Bourton vale equestrian centre and the most amazing scones from the bakery called Bakery on the Water 3 minutes walk away. Overall a lovely stay.
Ruth Cox
Wonderful

This is the second time we've stayed at Appletree...such a charming and lovely cottage. The location is superb and it's decorated beautifully throughout.

A lovely cottage perfectly located in a breathtaking village.

Our third visit to Appletree Cottage which is snugly nestled in the gorgeous Bourton on the Water and we adore the warm welcome and cozy feel the cottage provides. The village and local area deliver a stunning landscape as well as having all the local amenities needed. It does what it says on the tin!!

You get what you see

From booking and deciding if Appletree was for us we should really not have thought twice, the cottage was exactly as advertised. A very comfortable and cozy cottage right beside the town center of Bourton-On-The-Water. The warmth and comfort, the cleanliness was second to none. Don't hesitate to book Appletree.

Good location. Cosy, comfortable and warm.

One of the party loved it so much, if ever the owners are thinking of selling she would be interested!

Excellent break

Excellent location and property was extremely clean. Only item that could be improved is the garden, it could do with being tidied up.

A perfect break in beautiful surroundings

The cottage was situated in a perfect position, one street back from the Main Street. The kitchen was well stocked with every utensil and cook wear you could possibly need and was immaculately clean. The living area was comfortable and relaxing, the stable door brought some admiring glances from other tourists. The bedrooms were lovely and the white company bedding made it even more homely. I would highly recommend this cottage and look forward to going back at some stage.

Perfect except...

A superb cottage in an dream loctrion in a heavenly town. Only problem was the uncountable cobwebs and spiderwebs all around the exteriors of the cottages at all levels.
Am sure something can be done about it. But having said that a definite must visit and must stay.
Had a memorable time with my family.
Cheers
