Overview
Turn off the main street in Charlbury and then head down a small track which leads to a large wooden gate. As the gates open, you’ll be greeted with a breath-taking setting, with Long Meadow ahead and Apple Store Cottage to the right-hand side, with its beautiful wisteria rambling over the entrance and a pretty courtyard terrace to the front.
This secluded cottage is a stunningly stylish bolthole for two in an amazing location. On the ground floor is an open-plan kitchen-dining-living area, oozing style and comfort of the sort that could easily feature in any interior’s magazine. Sitting between the kitchen-dining room and living room is a fabulous wood burner creating the cosiest of ambiances during the cooler months, while French doors open to the courtyard garden and bring the outside in. Upstairs is a unique and romantic bedroom, with a super king-size bed and an adjoining shower room with a double-width, walk-in shower.
To the front of Apple Store Cottage, which is draped in roses and wisteria, is a gravel drive and a charming courtyard garden, which is accessed through the living room’s French doors. The courtyard has a table, two chairs, a garden bench and parasol and is an idyllic spot to sit outside and enjoy a drink or meal at any time of day. The cottage is in the heart of Charlbury, within five minutes’ walk of great pubs and eateries, and on the doorstep of some superb walking, yet it is so tucked away you could easily be in a rural setting enjoying the pretty courtyard garden on sunny days and summer evenings.
Ground Floor
Step in through the front door into the spacious open-plan kitchen-dining-living area, with its stunning rustic-chic styling. A rush mat and freestanding coat stand are provided for guests to hang coats and remove boots and shoes, ready to start their getaway. At every turn there are unique touches that set this romantic bolthole apart from the crowd.
Kitchen/Dining Area:
This delightful space features a dining table with four chairs placed centrally on the flagstone floor, to one side of a double-sided wood burning stove that’s shared with the living room. The fully equipped kitchen has every amenity needed for a self-catering stay, including a dishwasher, oven/hob, microwave, fridge-freezer - all set into shaker-style units with striking slate-grey worktops, plus a washer-dryer that’s been cleverly hidden away under the stairs.
Living Area:
The perfect combination of classic and contemporary Cotswold furniture and accessories, all beautifully styled by the owner, have created this wonderfully rejuvenating space. Here you can sit and relax on the three-seater sofa or armchair in front of the wood burning stove, read a book or watch a film on the smart TV, or open the French doors and let the sounds and fragrances of the garden drift in. A large sisal rug covers the flagstone floor, adding an extra cosy feel, with reading lamps and occasional tables providing the finishing touch.
First Floor
Bedroom:
The super-spacious bedroom has an intriguing interior, combining architectural-chic styling alongside a warm and inviting, romantic ambiance. It features a super-king size bed with a sleigh back headboard that rests against a three-quarter height wall with shaker-style panelling, which cleverly conceals a dressing area with a hanging rail and an antique chest of drawers. Original touches include two wrought iron benches with cushions and the wood burner stack, which emerges through the original wooden floorboards from the living area below and is surrounded by a custom-built ‘cage’. A captain’s chair and table with a lamp provides a lovely spot to sit and read, write or relax. The bedroom overlooks the courtyard garden below and the mature trees and lawn between the cottage and the owners’ home.
Shower Room:
The beautifully light and spacious shower room features Shaker-style panelling, the original stone wall, stripped oak floorboards and a double-width, walk-in shower with a rainfall and handheld shower head. The wash basin is set in a custom-built vanity unit made from a cleverly upcycled chest of drawers, with two mirrors above and a heated handrail to one side. The wide windowsill provides plenty of space to store personal items.
Outside
Immediately in front of the cottage is a small but delightful, English cottage garden, with a pebble and paving stone terrace surrounded by planted borders and overlooking the owners’ front lawn, apple tree and flower beds. The cottage garden is separated from the owners’ lawn by an original, antique railing. Relax outside at the dining table, or sit under the parasol, with just the sound of bees and birds to accompany you – all so surprising with it being in the centre of Charlbury. The terrace is accessed through the living area’s French doors. To the side of the terrace is a parking space for two cars.

Exceptional cottage - one of the Cotswolds’ best! We received a very warm welcome from the owners, and loved the location / accessibility and gorgeous decor - a perfect long weekend. Would highly recommend and return!

We had a wonderful time in Charlbury at this gorgeous cottage! Everything was perfectly decorated and outfitted. Charlbury was a great location for hikes and exploring the Cotswolds. The Bell and The Bull both served delicious dinners!

Beautiful cottage

Apple Store Cottage was simply one of the best places we have stayed. Every comfort was considered and provided and the place is a work of art. The bed was really comfortable and the bedding like a cloud.
Little touches provided made it extra special. We will be back.

Wonderful Apple Store Cottage

My husband are I are just home from a stay in the Cotswolds that included a three-night stay at Apple Store Cottage. This property is beautifully finished and furnished, with the hosts taking great care to think of all the small details for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is excellently stocked and a pleasure to cook in; the bed and bedding are perfect. Sue and Chris are very warm and hospitable hosts. A wonderful retreat that I can recommend without hesitation.

We recently had a (much needed) 4 night stay at Apple Store Cottage. The cottage is set in a lovely Cotswolds village close to a number of top Cotswolds “things to do”. The cottage has a comfortable spacious lounge to relax in at the end of day, with a fully equipped kitchen and some lovely added extras courtesy of the owner (thank you,). Upstairs is a large room with an even larger very comfortable bed and bedding… which was a welcome addition in a holiday rental. The bathroom has a lovely large walk-in shower. There are 3 pubs within a minute’s walk from the cottage - one so good (The Bull), we had 2 meals in the during our stay. The cottage was a home away from home for us and we loved staying there so much so that we rebooked for our next visit. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your lovely cottage. We can’t wait to be back.

Fantastic place to stay

The Apple Store Cottage is great. It was clean, well furnished, and very private. Sue is a great host. We liked that the cottage was behind a gate and especially liked that we did not need to worry about parking. The pub next door with an excellent Sunday roast and an outdoor area serving pizza were very convenient. We will certainly stay there again when we come back to the Cotswolds.

Charming Cottage in a beautiful location was everything we had hoped for and more

The Apple Store Cottage was the perfect place to stay in the Cotswold's. It was a great location with a pub and store you could walk to with a lovely garden for morning coffee or an afternoon glass of champagne. The hosts were fabulous. Arriving to a bottle of cold champagne, a loaf of fresh bread and butter, carrot cake and coffee with of course real cream for the morning was beyond expectation. It was a great location to explore from and also just a lovely place to be. Easy access to much of the area and lovely walks right out the door. The cottage was beautifully decorated and the bed so very comfy. We can't wait to return and want to send our son and his girlfriend here on a trip.

The Perfect Cotswolds Cottage

Apple Store Cottage is picture perfect in every way. Completely private and secure, yet just off the main street, we enjoyed the outdoor terrace, garden and daily birdsong while tasting the welcome goodies provided by Sue, the owner. Comfortable and cozy for two, every color and detail is designed to relax and renew. The beautiful kitchen is completely equipped, and with great local shopping footsteps away, it's easy to fill the fridge! Charlbury is a charming town, with great pubs, restaurants, all means of transportation, and lovely hiking trails nearby. Thank you Sue for the comfortable decor, the nibbles, and your hospitality. We'll be back!

A wonderful 5-night stay at Apple Store Cottage

Apple Store cottage was a delightful location for our 5-night stay in Charlbury. The cottage was beautifully equipped and spotlessly clean. We were welcomed with a delightful welcome pack that included wine, a lovely carrot cake and fresh bread. The lounge was perfect to kick-back on after a hard day of sightseeing, and the huge bed was lovely and comfortable. The wood burner was set and ready to go, with a healthy supply of logs and kindling. Sue was an unobtrusive host, who was readily available if needed. The location of the cottage is very private and convenient to Charlbury and surrounding attractions. The local railway station is only a 10-minute walk away, and provides a great link to Oxford. We enjoyed a lovely walk to Finstock and back, which took us through some beautiful countryside. I would thoroughly recommend Apple Store cottage to any couples who are looking to treat themselves in a special destination that will not disappoint.

Delightful stay in a beautiful cottage

My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It was well situated and easy to get to. Everything was today, clean and well stocked. It was a lovely stay - definitely recommend for anyone looking for a calm, relaxing, quiet getaway.

A delightful cottage and so comfortable, situated in a lovely area of the Cotswolds

A beautiful surprise when entering the driveway to the cottage

When we drove over the driveway to the cottage, we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful cottage. It is situated in a quiet town, from which we could see so many wonderful places in the Cotswolds. At the cottage there were some lovely goodies for us which was such a lovely surprise! And then every morning we could have breakfast on the terrace in the sunshine. Also ideal was the train station only a 10 minute walk away, to be able to trafel to London or Oxford. We really had such a wonderful time there, and will certainly remember this cottage if we will visit the Cotswolds again.

Apple Store Cottage

We have stayed at the cottage before and loved it. On returning it was like coming back to a calm oasis and everything you need in there. Sue the owner and her husband are very helpful but not intrusive. We love the location, the little Deli in the village and wonderful food at the Bull. There are many other places to stop for coffee and cake and sites and villages to enjoy. It is all so relaxing. We hope to return again soon.

A wonderful place to stay

We can honestly say that Apple Store Cottage was perfect in every way.
Very spacious accommodation, spotlessly clean throughout and a very comfortable bed. The location was well positioned for exploring the Cotswolds. The village pubs also offer a very good range of food and drink.
We only met the owner once, the day after we arrived. We would have liked a personal greeting on the day of our arrival, but that said, we had a mobile number in case of any problems.
There was a lovely welcome pack of bread, butter, marmalade, eggs, cake and coffee and a bottle of wine.
We enjoyed it so much, we have re booked!

Exceeded Expectations!

Probably the best vacation rental we have ever enjoyed! Perfectly comfortable with a well-stocked kitchen and adorable garden patio. Charlbury is a gem and the cottage's location could not be better. Quiet and tucked away but walkable to pubs, co-op, deli/cafe, and more within minutes. Great central location to other lovely nearby villages. Our hosts were delightful and helpful but gave us privacy. Can't wait to stay here again!
Carmen Hatcher
So lovely that we found it hard to leave!

Our stay at the Apple Store Cottage was nothing short of flawless. I highly recommend staying here to anyone considering a trip to Charlbury/West Oxfordshire.
The location of the cottage was great. Youre right in the centre of Charlbury town, with cafes and pubs practically on the doorstep. But the cottage is also away from any roads so you get that calmness when youre there.
The cottage has all the utilities/equipment/facilities you would need if you just wanted to spend your entire stay indoors. Id say the WiFi was also strong enough to work from there, if youre a remote worker. Its also only a 10 minute walk from Charlbury station, so could work as a base if you wanted to visit the surrounding villages.
The way the cottage had been styled is incredibly welcoming and makes you feel like youre in a home, as opposed to the coldness you can sometimes get in other spaces.
Sue and Chris were incredibly welcoming and accommodating to all our requests. I felt able to contact them with any questions and always got a quick response.
We spent our last night there thinking about the next time we would be able to come! Highly recommend this cottage to anyone and everyone.

Absolutely lovely cottage

The cottage was exactly what we wanted as a place to relax and de-stress. Everything we needed was provided and more; lots of extras such as ground coffee, croissants, cake etc.
We could walk to eating places and deli and small supermarket.
I wish we could have stayed longer!
Thank you very much to the owners for providing a wonderful retreat.

The Perfect Base for a Stay in the Cotswolds!

Spacious and tastefully decorated, Applestore Cottage is the perfect bolthole for a stay in the The Cotswolds. Sue and her husband are very gracious hosts; friendly and willing to help with anything, without imposing on our privacy. We loved all the special little touches that greeted us upon our arrival, Sue's attention-to-detail is superb. The location is tucked away enough to enable you to escape the crowds of tourists, but convenient enough that you can easily visit the busy spots whenever you wish. My only suggestion, which may assist future guests' level of comfort, is perhaps a firmer mattress - although some guests may prefer a super soft bed! We loved the size of it and the luxury linen.. everything was so wonderful and we would like to sincerely thank you for helping us create wonderful memories to treasure for many years to come.

Perfect stage

Our stage in apple cottage was simply perfect. The owners who lives in front of the cottage were so kind with us. We feel really comfortable and we enjoy our 4 days there. The location was perfect for visit all the Cotswolds. We were travelling with a 2 years old baby and he told us all the time that it was a story house like the ones in the books.

A perfect place for a romantic holiday in the countryside

We stayed at the Apple Store Cottage for a week and it was lovely. We were welcomed by the host with all goods you need for an easy start, like fresh milk, bread and homemade marmalade. The cottage is modern and furnished with love, a perfect place to recover from your eyerydaylife.

Always worth a trip

The Apple Store Cottage is a very nice and comfortably furnished Cottage that you can only recommend. The Owners are very friendly and helpful. We would love to come back because we love the Cotswolds. The Journey from Germany was really worth it.

Excellent stay in a wonderful cottage

Lovely cottage, beautifully restored with tasteful and comfy furniture. Spacious kitchen has everything you need to cook a full meal, if you wanted to. Bedroom and bathroom are upstairs, everything is well kept, very clean and beautifully appointed, we felt like home right away.
There is a little private garden which overlooks part of the immaculately property and the beautiful home of the friendly and discreet owner, who made us feel very welcome. On arrival, there were some very much appreciated welcome goodies such as a coffee, milk, butter and jam, a yummy freshly baked bread, wine and even a cake.
Good location from where you can make day trips exploring all of the Cotswolds - we were sad to leave after 3 nights and plan to come back and make this our home-base for a week.
Patrick Intelmann
Quite simply absolutely outstanding. Probably the best cottage I have ever stayed in. Faultless.

Outstanding and cannot rate the cottage any higher than 10/10. If allowed I would! Superb and the local pubs are brilliant. Also only a 20 minute train into Oxford. Will be returning as soon as I can. Mark

A Cotswold Gem

We stayed for three nights at this tastefully restored cottage in what I would describe as an authentic Cotswold village and would highly recommend for quality, comfort and location.
You can easily walk to a choice of great pubs offering outstanding food.
And although the owners live in the grounds in the main property they were welcoming yet discreet and respectful. The welcome goodies and guide book with recommendations were both much appreciated.
Perfect for a couples get away base to explore this charming part of England.

Apple Store Ciottage in Charlbury

The cottage is delightful. Sue the owner had thoughtfully left us a welcome 'goody' pack which was very well received especially a really yummy carrot cake. Set in a wonderful setting, peaceful and with everything we needed the cottage was just what was needed. Most importantly there is a super king sized bed that is really comfortable. We have just returned after a week and have booked for a return visit in September. Charlbury is a lovely base for getting to explore and is not beset by masses of tourists which makes it a very friendly place - the deli and its staff are a delight and the coffee and cake is good We would recommend the cottage for a peaceful retreat. Just one thing, iIt would be nice to have garden chairs to 'relax' in when the sun shines. I am now looking forward to our return in September. Sunshine would be the icing on the cake. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Excellent cottage!

We had a fantastic stay in this cottage. The welcome pack was lovely surprise, with plenty of nice goodies! The cottage was idyllic and peaceful with everything we needed. Charlbury was perfectly situated and we walked everyday through the beautiful countryside, which was right on the doorstep. We had some lovely meals out and used the deli in the town for our picnic food. We would definitely recommend this cottage and we will be sure to book a return visit!
