Beautiful countryside and walking routes etc , a fantastically beautiful village church as you enter the village , there is lots to find and see, special memories Spotting a Fawn and Deer in the surrounding woodlands just outside the village and seeing beautiful wildlife The hosts were Lovely and they came to greet me, they had supplied milk coffee tea and various other items to help us settle in and feel welcome. Buff Lodge was perfect! Beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and with everything you need to make you feel at home. A lovely village location with wonderful views of horses in the field and just a short walk away from the station plus the bus stop was just steps away. Our host was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. Thoughtful little touches like fresh milk in the fridge and teabags/ coffee were so appreciated after a late night check in. Would highly recommend and hope to come back again for a longer stay next time!

Another fabulous stay at Buffs Lodge

We first stated at Buffs Lodge during Christmas 2019. Now under new management, the property has been beautifully refurbished and tastefully decorated with the addition of two new and very comfortable sofas. It was just lovely to be back !
Very much looking forward to our next stay at Buffs Lodge in the not too distant future.

We had a wonderful week at the cottage. First time in the Cotswolds. I must have looked at 100 different options before deciding, and this one had everything I wanted out of our stay and a break from London's hustle and bustle. This was a lovely, picturesque village with beige stone houses and plants. In the countryside, without being too remote. Great links to places we wanted to visit. I love that I could see and hear horses from the bedroom and sheep a bit further on. We also wanted to be able to sit outside and there was lovely garden space. Cottage was spacious with lots of light and the kitchen had so much provided. All rooms were spotless and beautifully decorated. I also like that, as soon as I booked it, all relevant information was provided immediately and clearly. Parking is outside, in the yard and away from the street. Highly recommended.

Great location to explore Oxford and Cotswold

A great cottage at very affordable price to explore Oxford and Cotswold. We stayed 5 days as a family and everything was perfect. Super clean, spacious, all needed amenities are there. We didn't have a car but it was easy to get to Oxford nevertheless as the cottage is only one train stop away and the trains are quite frequent.
Would love to stay again in the future.

Good central location

Stayed for two nights in the cottage to tour the Cotswolds. We arrived a couple of hours early and Lisa was ready for us. The cottage was lovely, clean tidy and comfortable with all mod cons. Milk tea and coffee was a nice added touch. All the villages we visited were within a half hour drive and buses or train to the centre of Oxford are right on the doorstep. All in all a great place to stay.

A pleasant break in the Oxfordshire countryside

Buff Lodge was easy to find and with off road parking. The cottage was very clean and tidy, with a well equipped kitchen and was in a quiet location. It was also close to the railway station and not far from the Oxford Canal Path. Lisa the owner was very helpful.

A Convenient, Comfortable and Cosy Cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights at Buff Lodge.
The building retains much of the ambience of its former use, Im guessing to buff the barley for the production of ale. It stands in the grounds on a former pub after all.
We found the conversion to be sympathetic and attractive.
The sitting room was delightful, furnished with two squishy sofas ,coffee tables, and attractive table lamps.
Beds were very comfortable and both the bathroom and en-suite were immaculately clean with lots of hot water and a plentiful supply of towels including the traditional but hard to find bath sheets.
The kitchen was well equipped for preparing an evening meal after our days out in Oxford.
(The addition of a coffee machine would be a great addition ahead of my next visit !)
We visited the city by bus which has a convenient stop just a two minute walk from The Lodge. They run about every hour, terminating just opposite The former Randolph Hotel a 2 minute walk to the Ashmolean. Scheduled journey time is 40 minutes but there are inevitable traffic jams of course.
We had made an appointment in the print room to view some Pre Raphaelite prints, cartoons and sketches one morning which was pure joy ! Museum staff were wonderfully generous with their time and knowledge.
We had glorious weather during our stay and the beautiful courtyard garden was a delightful place to sit with coffee or your favourite tipple and listen to the birds,
As much thought has gone into designing this little space as it has to the interior. Both had been prepared to the highest standards for our arrival.
We enjoyed a sunny afternoon lunch at The Trout Inn Wolvercote, famous for its riverside shots of Morse & Lewis of course. Its a very beautiful spot.
Tackley is lovely and the locals are friendly.
Everything is very easy at The Lodge, parking included and you will be sure of a warm welcome from Lisa.
The agency was easy to work with and their description of the accommodation was accurate and well represented on their website.
We hope to return.

Woodstock Wedding

Short 2-night stay in the beautiful Cotswold village of Tackley. Very convenient for a family wedding in Woodstock, visit to Clarkson's pub, The Farmer's Dog, walk around Oxford and a punt on the river.
The accommodation is spotlessly clean, nicely furnished, comfortable and tranquil and quiet.
We stayed with our daughter and her fiancé perfect for four people.

A little haven of luxury in the centre of things to do and places to see

Buff Lodge provides everything you need for a comfortable stay away from home. We were lucky to be able to use the patio, in the Autumnal sunshine. Everything was as expected, and the kitchen had all utensils needed to make some special meals after a busy day touring in the area. The beds and bathrooms provided comfort for a good nights' sleep, and the surroundings were lovely and peaceful. Lisa was so friendly, and gave us details of the local bakery / shop, and we found some lovely bread and cake there. Sadly, the church on the hill was closed for renovation, so we'll have to return to view inside. The local pub was also shut and up for sale, but hopefully will find some new owners who will make something of it for when we revisit - hopefully. The village is great for walking around, and the Station is such a bonus.

Warm and welcoming

Having visited the property once before, it felt like coming home. Lisa the owner is very welcoming and friendly. Although we use it primarily as a base to visit relatives it is well placed For Blenheim Palace, Oxford and the Cotswolds.

Overall good

Both the bath and shower were very slippery. Safety mat necessary.
Instructions book could have been better.

Effortless stay in Tackley

Buff Lodge was welcoming, impeccably clean, well-equipped and well-located. Effortless place to stay for a long weekend, although given the size, parking and facilities if you're up to 4 people, would be easy to stay longer. Lisa was welcoming and keeps the place SPOTLESS. Couldn't recommend more.

Lovely Little Hideaway

Buff Lodge is a lovely two bed cottage perfectly situated for visiting Oxford and the Cotswolds. The property was clean and well-appointed. We were having a short break and planned to spend all our time in Oxford so did not really 'use' the kitchen that much but it was obvious that everything was supplied that you might need.
We chose to use the Park & Ride to get into Oxford but you are also 0.3 miles along the lane to the railway station which would be a great option not to take a car into the city.
The beds were extremely comfortable and proper sized bath sheets were provided.
We felt that a few lamps in the sitting are would have made the ambience better as there are only ceiling lights currently. And lights in general need checking on changeover as the light above the en suite bathroom mirror was not working. There is also a prize for anyone who works out how to turn on the under cupboard lights in the kitchen! It defeated us.
Overall we were very happy with our stay and would happily have stayed longer. We were there in the run up to Storm Babet so a wet stay but the little courtyard garden would have been a perfect spot for a glass of wine in good weather. Thankfully the cottage has a very responsive heating system which made the cottage very cosy within minutes of us returning each evening.
Seriously recommend the Indian Delivery from Ovisher, Kidlington. Perfect for first night supper.
