This peaceful retreat has a bright and spacious open-plan kitchen-dining-living area, a spa-like shower room and a beautiful mezzanine bedroom. It has every comfort and amenity guests need for a pampered, self-catering stay from the air-conditioning to the cosy robes. Hillview Hideaway is in the quiet Cotswold village of Gotherington, independent of and tucked away behind its parent property. It is an excellent base for visits to Cheltenham Racecourse, Prescott Hill Climb and Sudeley Castle, with fantastic walking from the doorstep and the village pub less than a mile away.

Overview

Sitting behind the owner’s thatched cottage, off Gretton Road in the sleepy village of Gotherington, is Hillview Hideaway - a luxury retreat, ingeniously designed into a double garage. If at first you feel this is just a garage, just wait until you open the garden gate, where you will begin your adventure and discover it is so much more.

Step through the side door into a contemporary light and bright, open-plan living space with a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area - with a circular table and seating for two - a living area - with a large smart TV - and a luxurious shower room with a double-width walk-in shower. On the mezzanine floor, in the eaves of this delightful holiday retreat, is a beautifully appointed, double bedroom, with air conditioning for warm summer nights and five windows all with custom blinds, allowing light to shine in while ensuring a good night’s sleep.

Once you’re through the tall, wooden side gate, you’ll immediately notice the attention to detail that the owners have lavished on their holiday home, from the adorable wellie boot rack through to the manicured patio with its hot tub, seating area and BBQ. To the front is a dedicated parking space and a charging point for electric cars. It’s the perfect space to relax in after a long day exploring the Cotswold countryside and sights.

Ground Floor

Step through the side entrance into the stylish and immaculately presented open-plan living space where you’ll at once appreciate the attention to detail and the calming ambience created by the soft white, natural colours and wood-effect flooring. To one side are hooks to hang your coats on the newel post and an umbrella stand with space for shoes. Look above and you’ll see a large, circular light tube bringing a lovely wash of natural light inside.

Living Area:
To the left of the entrance way is a cosy living area, with a two-seater chaise sofa, coffee table, reading light and foot stool positioned to snuggle up and comfortably watch the Smart TV.

Kitchen:
The fully and very well-equipped kitchen has every appliance needed for a completely self-catered stay, including an oven, microwave, gas hob and extractor fan, a dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and dryer. Plenty of white Corian worktops provide all the space needed to prepare your meals and drinks.
Under the stairs is a drinks fridge and cupboards for your own kitchen supplies, as well as a handy hanging wardrobe for your coats and jackets.

Dining Area:
At the centre of the open-plan living space is the dining area, with a circular table and two comfy chairs.

Shower Room:
The stylish shower room features a double width, walk-in shower, with an overhead rainfall shower head and hand-held shower. The wash basin has a custom-built vanity unit with a make-up mirror and a large over-sink mirror. Motion-sensor lights in the shower room, mean the main light and fan don’t have to be turned on during night-time visits to the toilet, ensuring the sleeping partner isn’t disturbed!

First Floor

A standard-width, carpeted staircase with a handrail and eye-catching glass panels leads up to:

Bedroom:
This delightful bedroom has light pouring in through three Velux windows and two apex windows each with custom-made blinds, ensuring a good night’s sleep. The bedroom is furnished with a standard double bed with bedside tables, dimmer reading lights and a long, cushioned bench at the foot of the bed. The bedroom also has a dressing table with a mirror, lamp and stool, a luggage rack and a set of basket drawers on which guests will find the bathrobes. At the top of the stairs is an air-conditioning unit to ensure guests are super comfortable even on the occasional hot summer night.

Outside

A tall, wooden gate opens from the dedicated parking area at the front of the property to a path that passes the entrance door to the side and leads to the patio. Here you will find the pristine hot tub and a seating area with two rattan-style armchairs, a drinks table and a large gas BBQ (tools and fuel provided). To the front of the property is a parking spot with an electric vehicle (EV) charging point.

Lovely relaxing break

Verified Up Front Reviews
Enjoyed a fantastic long weekend at Hillview Hideaway recently. The accommodation is beautifully presented and provides a real home away from home feel. Everything has been thought out to create a wonderful space that's as comfortable as it is practical. All of the furnishings and equipment provided is top quality and in great condition, lighting is all labelled up to avoid confusion, heating system is a simple as you could make it, minor things but they really help you make the most of relaxing and enjoying your well earned break. Not to mention getting to enjoy a soak in the hot tub each night, even in the chilly weather we had it was lovely to dip in there each evening with the robes and sliders provided making for an easy escape back to the warmth of the indoors! Would definitely rebook if returning to the area, great little spot!

High spec beautiful hideaway

Verified Up Front Reviews
The Hillview hideaway has been well thought out and completed to a high spec. The hot tub was a lovely addition and the cleanliness was second to none. Great location for exploring local villages and a lovely walk around Cleeve Hill. The WiFi did keep dropping out whilst watching a movie and was a little expensive for the time of year we visited (January). But as a luxury getaway it was perfect.

Fabulous Stay at Hillview Hideaway

Verified Up Front Reviews
The cottage was gorgeous. Everything you needed and more was provided. Really loved the aircon in the bedroom. A quick start guide would have been useful. The village is easy to get to with a really handy local shop and the local pub (Shutters Inn) has great service and amazing food with the added bonus it's only a short walk straight down the road - no designated driver required. Every morning we had a cooked breakfast together before venturing out for the day. Friday dinner was at the Shutters Inn, Sunday lunch was at the Shutters Inn, Thursday and saturday we had a light meal at the cottage. Having the hot tub onsite was a big reason for booking and this was used daily. Places we visited included: Bourton on the water (a firm favourite), Sudeley Castle (worth it and do park on site), Winchcombe (really love Just Gems, the Deli with amazing coffee and the aweasome Butcher), Hailes Abbey and the church next door. So many more places to visit that aren't too far at all.

Only thing that could have impr comfort would be a slightly larger sofa

Great find

Verified Up Front Reviews
We had a great weekend here. The place was spotless. The hot tub was ready to go for our arrival and made for an extra special weekend get away celebrating a birthday. The location was excellent- short drive to the local Parkrun and able to do a long walk from the house. The local pub which is in walking distance served fabulous food at a reasonable price and was lovely to not have to drive. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

Good location for sightseeing

Verified Up Front Reviews
A well decorated, modern property, some lovely touches and very well looked after. Very pretty courtyard garden. Loved the bbq.The hot tub was clean, warm and fabulous (would recommend a handrail for additional safety). Village was central for sightseeing by car and there is a regular bus service in both directions, Gotherington railway station wasn't that close and not sign posted but an amazing view from the bedroom window when the steam trains passed. Overall well equipped but missing some kitchen utensils (potato masher, wooden spoons, oven gloves). Unless they were in a cupboard and we just didn't see them! There weren't any separate towels for the hot tub but we used the ones in the bathroom and washed them mid way through the stay as products were kindly supplied. The bedroom was tricky being in the eaves, as mentioned in the property description, I am 5ft 3 and I found the head room challenging. A small welcome pack would have been a nice touch (bread, eggs for example) although I appreciate that to cater for people with dietary requirements this could be difficult! We thoroughly enjoyed our break at Hillview Hideaway and could easily have stayed a few more days.

Excellent base for exploring the cotswolds and surrounding area.

Amazing facilities. Lovely hosts, very friendly and helpful. Everything you could possibly need for a restful, luxurious stay.extra little touches, like robes, welcome coffees and chocolates. The A/C was a godsend in the mini heatwave. Cannot fault the stay, in fact we didn't want to leave.

A peaceful weekend retreat

Verified Up Front Reviews
A delightful and high spec small retreat. Ideal for a long weekend to explore the local attractions. The jacuzzi is an added bonus. The property has a lot of modern fittings which add to its appeal. WiFi could be improved and the cleaning fee I think is high for a weekend booking which are the only downsides. Owners live next door and are happy to help with any issues that arise.

Perfect base for a Cotswold escape

Verified Up Front Reviews
Fantastic property, really well appointed with all the comforts of home and more to suit a Cotswold break. Great pub 10th a walk away, Cleeve hill, Bourton on the Water and Broadway all within easy reach with Cheltenham’s shops and bars only ‘down the road.’ Simon was a great host, had thought of everything and even took the time to post some clothes we left at the propriety - thank you

Lovely place

Verified Up Front Reviews
We stayed for a week in September and we had the best time ever, plenty of high quality facilities, well stocked and a dishwasher. The accommodation was perfect and very Cosy. The hot tub is definitely a nice touch and is fun to use in the rain and cold mornings. Ideal if you have an electric vehicle as you can explore and also not need to worry about power. Would visit again.

Well worth a stay

A beautifully decorated and furnished property containing everything you need. Hot tub was clean and warm on our arrival and an added luxury to our short break. Slope of the bedroom ceiling was greater than we thought, care needed when coming downstairs until down 2 stairs

Lisa Pope

Perfect in every way

Verified Up Front Reviews
Modern, well equipped, very clean and comfortable. The hot tub was a real bonus, as was the air con in the bedroom, which was very much appreciated in the extreme heat. The location was peaceful and there were walks from the cottage. Loved the steam train from Gotherington to Cheltenham - the station is beautiful, well worth the 10 min walk. There is a corner shop and local pub 5/10 min walk, which was perfect. Excellent in every respect.

Beautiful Stay

Verified Up Front Reviews
We have just returned from our stay at hill view. It is a beautiful renovated property that appears to be a double garage from the outside. It is decorated to a high standard with everything you would need for your stay. It is in a great location in the welcoming village of Gotherington with amenities close by and driving distance to many of the beautiful villages in the Cotswolds. We would definitely recommend this property to others and I’m sure we will return in the future.
