Overview
Following the tree-lined country lanes into the peaceful village of Temple Guiting sets the scene perfectly for your stay in the Cotswolds. As you turn into the large driveway, Temple Guiting Cottage sits tucked behind an ivy-clad stone wall. The pleasing symmetry of the double-fronted house and honey yellow tones of the Cotswold stone that has mellowed to a gentler hue over the years revealed before you.
The front door opens to a hallway, which runs the length of the house, at the end there is a glimpse of the garden beyond, and beneath your feet, the original flooring of quarry tiles and flagstones remain. To your right, there is a long kitchen/diner with a fabulous refectory-style table perfect for sociable gatherings, on your left a handy utility room and then at the far end, the living room, stylish in its simplicity, and complete with an open fire.
On the first floor, you’ll find three spacious double bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite shower room, along with a family bathroom. The large landing is flooded with light and there’s a desk set by the window for anyone who needs to bring their work away with them. The second set of stairs rise to the top of the house and two further delightful bedrooms, a generously sized double and the prettiest of twin rooms. There is also a further family bathroom. Throughout you’ll find original wooden floors, feature windows and exposed beams.
To the rear of Temple Guiting Cottage is a wonderful, enclosed garden. A drystone wall surrounds the space along with lofty, mature trees. The flat lawn is perfect for garden games, whilst the spacious 8-seater solid wood dining table lends itself to lazy lunches in the sun. Or maybe just have a little afternoon snooze in one of the basket chairs.
Ground Floor
Entrance Hall:
As you step through the front door into the entrance hall you get a real sense of the style of this Cotswold cottage. Underfoot are quarry tiles and original flagstones, there’s also a boot rack for storing muddy boots and coat hooks.
Utility Room:
Immediately leading from the entrance hall is a handy utility room with a ground floor WC. This is a good spot for drying off muddy dogs from their countryside walks. There's also a washing machine and a tumble dryer in here too.
Kitchen/Dining Room:
Running the length of the house the open plan kitchen/dining room has plenty of light from the windows at each end of the room. The well-equipped kitchen has pretty sage green units, solid wooden worktops and everything you need to whip up culinary masterpieces. The ceramic butlers sink sits beneath the front window and there’s a dishwasher too, so no need for any washing up duty arguments. There is an electric oven and hob whilst the SMEG fridge freezer ensures there’s plenty of food storage space for feeding ten guests, and if more space is needed there’s an additional under counter fridge. Plenty of crockery and glasses sit within shelved alcoves ready for laying the fabulous wooden refectory table, which seats ten comfortably. With a stylish multi-bulb light fixture hanging overhead this is the place for leisurely lazy breakfasts and sociable evening meals with everyone gathered together. At the far end, there’s a deep-set window with a windowsill wide enough to perch on, where you can linger and watch the birds flitting around the garden.
Living Room:
The cosy living room is finished in a neutral palette of colours and is charming in its simplicity. The original wooden floorboards add warmth as does the open fire, which sits in a beautiful stone fireplace. A large, low comfy sofa fills one wall and there are three additional armchairs, a large smart TV, and a coffee table. The deep-set window looks over the garden, and as with the dining area, the windowsill is wide enough for you to rest awhile with a good book.
First Floor
Wooden stairs rise from the hall to the first floor and a spacious landing area with a desk at one end. This space is perfect as a workstation and the cottage benefits from Giga Clear Wi-Fi.
Bedroom One:
A beautiful king-size wooden sleigh bed takes centre stage in this spacious room. Colefax and Fowler linens hang at the window and the polished wooden floorboards are covered with a grey and cream patterned rug. On one side of the bed is a chest of drawers and on the other a small occasional table, both with reading lamps. There’s a wall mirror and a large window overlooking the back garden.
Ensuite Shower Room:
The generously sized ensuite has a walk-in shower with an open glass screen and rainfall showerhead, there’s also a hand basin, WC and heated towel rail. The screened window lets natural light into the room.
Bedroom Two:
This lovely, light bedroom also overlooks the rear garden. The king-size bed has a beautifully upholstered headboard, a single wardrobe with hanging space and bedside tables with reading lamps on either side of the bed.
Bedroom Three:
Although slightly smaller than the other two bedrooms this is still a lovely room with an upholstered double bed and built-in storage. The deep-set window has a wide sill and overlooks the front of the house.
Family Bathroom:
The family bathroom has a bath with a shower over, handbasin and WC.
Second Floor
Carpeted stairs lead to the second floor and two further bedrooms. There is a low ceiling beam at the turn of the stairs, so you please be aware of the ceiling height if you are tall.
Bedroom Four:
This enchanting, light-filled bedroom is a real haven at the top of the house, it features an apex ceiling with exposed beams, an original arched window, and a king-size bed. There’s a hanging rail for clothes, a chest of drawers and an antique Grandfather chair.
Bedroom Five:
Opposite bedroom four is a pretty room also boasting an apex ceiling and exposed beams. Beautiful antique twin beds sit on either side of the original arched window and make this a fun hideaway at the top of the house for children or teenagers, but it is equally suitable for adults. A chest of drawers acts as a bedside table for both beds, positioned between them.
Family Bathroom:
Directly between the two top floor bedrooms is a family bathroom. There is a shower over the bath, hand basin, WC, wooden floorboards and exposed beams.
Outside
The rear garden is perfect for summer days. Surrounded by a Cotswold drystone wall and mature trees you can while away the hours in the sunshine. There’s a solid wooden garden table with 8 chairs and a couple of basket chairs for lazy days. The sound of birdsong fills the air, and you really are a million miles away from suburbia, there is also ample parking for five cars.Facilities

Nice house, good location

A nice large property in a good location. The location does create a problem as there is no phone signal so you are reliant on the WiFi/internet. Unfortunately the internet failed throughout our visit so we felt cut off.
The cost reflects the size of the property but the provision is a bit basic. Lovely comfy beds but no cupboards to store food in the kitchen. Cottage accommodates up to 10 but seating for 5-6 at most. Very clean and warm.

Just enjoyed a fabulous 3 night stay at the cottage. It was perfect for a group of friends, meeting up and enjoying walking the Cotswold Way nearby. The cottage was well laid out, easy to find, beautifully clean and had all of the essentials for us to enjoy our stay. The housekeeper was fantastic, able to provide more logs for the cosy living room fire which really helped when the weather wasn’t the best. Highly recommended.

Family weekend in the cotswolds

We had a lovely stay at the cottage and would highly recommend it. It was the perfect location to explore the Cotswolds. The garden was the focal point and we were lucky enough to have great weather to be able to enjoy it. Our kids loved playing in it. We hired a private chef one evening and the kitchen space was great for that.

Beautiful property and garden. Ample parking. Comfortable bed. Clean and modern bathrooms. Well stocked kitchen. Helpful staff returning lost items!

It’s a beautiful house in a lovely location. The house is stylish, spacious and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and a big garden, perfectly set up for a family group. We really appreciated being in a quiet village - walking distance to several great pubs - while very close to lots of places to visit locally. The housekeeper was really friendly and helpful. Overall a great place to stay and would come back!

We booked this property for a 30th birthday celebration and it was perfect! The house easily accommodated our group of nine, with comfortable beds and plenty of space for everyone. Everything was spotless on arrival, and the host had stocked the place with all the amenities we could need. The garden was absolutely beautiful, and we enjoyed plenty of scenic walks nearby. Check-in was smooth and flexible, which made our trip stress-free. Would highly recommend for groups looking for a clean, well-equipped, and welcoming place to stay!

we had a really enjoyable family stay at the cottage. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedrooms lovely with very good quality bedding. The information provided was excellent and it was an ideal location to visit the Cotswolds. We would definitely recommend this place for a peaceful family retreat.

Lovely cottage

Stayed here for 2 nights as 5 couples because we had a wedding in the area to go to. The house was plenty big enough for the 10 of us. We were made to feel very welcome with a great welcome pack of essentials. The cottage is very homely and the beds are super comfortable. Shame we werent staying longer to spend more time exploring.

The Long Wedding Weekend

One of my nieces was getting married at Sudeley Castle on the Saturday and I needed a large cottage to accommodate 3 family groups travelling from Manchester, London and Plymouth.
Temple Guiting Cottage provided us 5 bedrooms and plenty of living space and ample parking. Unfortunately, we were not able to make use of all the facilities provided at the cottage, such as the lovely garden, since we arrived late on the Friday night and had to leave on the Sunday afternoon some people had to go work on Monday!
I would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone planning to stay for a while and explore that area of the Cotswolds.

Excellent stay - we will be back!

The five of us stayed at the cottage for a Work Retreat. We are self employed and loved the cottage. It was very hot! Great space to work and relax in our own space too. The bedrooms were comfortable. Everything we needed! Great location for walks, pubs and remote to relax.

a birthday party to remember.

stunning and charming house in a wonderful cotswolds location. Perfect for 5 couples and a baby as each couple has a comfortable bedroom. Ideal for a dog as enclosed.
Garden is lovely but shaded at this time of year (mid October) making the lawn difficult to use as on the muddy side.Could do with a new bbq as the current one is antiquated at best.
Could do with a easy to use vacuum cleaner to for us to use to keep it clean over a 4 day stay.
Housekeeper very helpful who lives next door but allows full privacy.
Would thoroughly recommend and my wife had the best birthday of her life when her family arrived for a surprise bbq.

Lovely cottage

We had a great short break with multi-generational family members. Temple Guiting Cottage is deceptively large - roomy bedrooms, pretty decor and a small but sunny garden surrounded by trees. The silence was punctuated by birds in the day and owls at night - a great escape. Loved the Bramley bath products and the thoughtful welcome basket.
Location wise you need a car to get supplies - there is the lovely working town of Winchcombe which is close by and more touristy Stow and Broadway.

Fantastic property

We loved our stay at this beautiful cottage. Easy check in, large parking area and beautiful gardens. The house was very clean and has everything you could need for a pleasant stay. All bedrooms are large and comfortable. My only point of note is that some child safety aspects could be improved. There are numerous windows without child locks on so they swing right out. Also there are open shelves in the kitchen storing crockery - we swiftly moved these so not a problem but just to note to future guests that you may need to baby proof a little on arrival. The window locks should definitely be addressed though.

Long weekend stay.

Lovely cottage. Very helpful housekeeper. Very well stocked; over and above what was expected. Only slight niggle was lack of hanging place for clothes in the main bedroom. Other bedrooms had hooks/clothes rails or even wardrobes. I appreciate there is not much room for a wardrobe but perhaps a row of hooks or pegs along the wall would work. Even a chair would be handy. Otherwise it was perfect.

A lovely cottage stay

We had a lovely stay here as a group of old Uni friends who havent got together for a long time.
Great: lots of parking, big table in the kitchen (we spent most of our time here) lots of fridge space, very pretty, clean, 3 bathrooms and lovely comfy beds. Good walking. Lovely housekeeper
Not perfect: lounge is a bit small vs number of bedrooms. The Pantry is closed so details could do with updating
We would highly recommend and had a lovely stay here, enjoying time together both in the house and walking in the lovely countryside.

Very comfortable

Very clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend. Not far from places in Cotswold if you wish to explore.

Picturesque village with lots of lovely walks on the doorstep

Period property in beautiful village. Well appointed accommodation upstairs but, unfortunately, downstairs was not conducive to hosting large parties, being only two smallish rooms. Not quite as expected. Housekeeper was responsive and very helpful.

A home from home

Beautiful home with everything you could need. Clean, comfortable beds and peaceful location. We arrived quite late on our first day, so the key box was really handy. Looks as good as the photos! We did struggle to find it initially - could do with a bigger sign.

Well presented cottage - but some misleading things in the description and photos

The cottage has been well modernised - and is overall high quality. Beds very comfortable. Kitchen design modern and spacious. Heating works well (we went in February)
Here are some things you should know:
1) the photo of the house is misleading. Only one side of the building (the 3 story house spanning between the two chimneys) is the cottage. It is semi attached to the single story accommodation next door which is lived in by the housekeeper. Whilst the housekeeper is discrete (and lovely), this is not as private as we thought it was when we booked. The description does not explicitly say the cottage is detached, but we were certainly led to believe this, and it cleary does not make clear it is a semi-detached dwelling.
2) there are no photos showing what is in front of the house: this is a largegravel parking area shared by this cottage, the housekeeper's cottage next door, and a new house being renovated across the parking area. Again, this location is not as private as we believed it to be, and the lack of photos of this is clearly hiding the reality
3) Whilst the cottage can without doubt sleep 10 in comfortable bedrooms, there is only room for maximum 5 people to sit in the lounge where the fire and TV are. This is not made clear in the description and would be a big problem if your group is bigger than 5 and you wanted to sit together in the evening by the fire watching TV. When we went, the description said a sofa and three armchairs. On our visit there was a sofa (sits three max) and only two armchairs. The room is so snug that it would be difficult to fit a third armchair in, but even if they did, it would only seat 6 in total.
If these things are made clear in the description then guests can rent with eyes open in knowledge of the facts. We enjoyed our stay are were not negatively impacted by these facts - but others may be more than we were. And we prefer renters to just be honest about their properties and allow guests to come and enjoy for what it is, rather than feel a little hoodwinked when we arrive.
Hope that helps

Lovely accommodation in good location. Would recommend for a family holiday.

Lovely cottage, more spacious than images show. 8 abc a baby had a family 3night February break. Bad storms each day, so we were thankful for a cottage that was warm & cosy. Comfy beds and lovely bed linen & towels. Cot & high chair in very good condition.
Could do with more mugs & small plates as not enough for 8 people, if 1 lot in dishwasher.

Excellent Property

The house suited our party very well. Everything was to a very high standard. There were a couple of things we thought would enhance the kitchen which we have told the housekeeper. We would very much like to stay again .

Wonderful Cotswold Cottage

Temple Guiting Cottage provided the absolute perfect setting for our Cotswold Christmas holiday. Very spacious and comfortable, it had everything we needed for our family of seven. Everything was very tastefully decorated and it had a lovely cosy feel. The location itself is in the quiet village of Temple Guiting but all the top attractions are relatively close by (Bourton, Stow, Broadway, Sudeley Castle, the Slaughters etc.) We spent most of our time exploring the many beautiful walks in the vicinity. Thoroughly recommend this property and would love to stay here again.

Wonderful Cottage

What a wonderful find, we have had a brilliant time, very relaxing, plenty of space for all the family.

Tranquil Getaway in Temple Guiting

Peaceful, but conveniently located. Our only very minor issues were that the en suite shower and the TV required a certain knack to operate, but we figured these out early enough. Otherwise the house had everything we needed. Excellent breakfast at Guiting Pantry!
